Went to a Chrylser dealership and asked (jokingly) if they had one of these DeSotos in stock. The "young" salesperson asked me.."what's a DeSote.?" No lineage taught to these guys.
@Rich8951 160 Horsepower was A LOT in 1952 . For comparision, in 1952, Ford's V-8 put out only 110 HP. Chevy didn't have a V-8 at all. Top HP of it's Six: only 90 HP. Oldsmobile,Desoto's closest competitor, only put out 145 HP on it's 88, and 160 hp (matching the DeSoto) on the Super 88. BUT the Super 88 's output came from 303 cubic inches.(5.0 liters). DeSoto's Hemi matched it from only 276 cubes. It even matched Cadillac's HP that year. DeSoto's Fire Dome Hemi was a real HOT ROD in 1952 !!!
DOME = HEMI.

DeSoto was an AWESOME CAR. Too bad Chrysler won't bring it back. ( and Plymouth and Imperial too).

A V-8 engine with ONLY 160 HP? You've got to be kidding!
Looks like a college professors car. Lackluster styling.
Guess that's why they went bust over 50 years ago!
