I COULD WATCH THIS OVER AND OVER /SO RELAXING/CANNOIT BELIEVE NOBODY GOT UNDERNEATH THAT PERFECT LEFT/WHAT WAS THAT RED BOX ON GUYS BOARD? WHY WAS THAT BOAT JUST TAKING A BEATING? AND CANNOT BELIEVE THAT GUY ON STAND UP PADDLE BOARD MISSED THE WAVE
@surfactor777 Hi Surfactor. The box was a camera housing... we didn't have gopro cams until about a year later. The guy on the paddleboard... was not very happy with himself. He had too much to drink the night before and wasn't able to step on the gas when he needed to. One of the regulars,he's a big powerful guy, but he was terribly hungover. You have to remember this was only about 8.30 am and damn cold!
AWESOME/THAT WAVE AT 2 MINUTE RANGE /LEFT/BY A PRO COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PERFECT BARREL/IF A GUY TOWED IN ALONG THAT BANK HE COULD MAKE IT/LOVE TO SEE SOMEBODY TAKE A GAMBLE AND HANG 10/I SAW LOTS OF PLACES U COULD WALK UP TO FRONT AND BACK AGAIN/THIS VID IS SO HOT/LOOKS LIKE MALIBU FIRST PEAK/ONLY MALIBU CROWD IS TRIPLE LOL.SORRY I MEANT AT 4 MINUTE MARK

Really sorry to say this, but I can see that if I had it to myself I'd have some fun, but that many people would suck all the fun out of it for me....Think I'll stick to the sea! thanks for the video though to save me the trip! :O)
After surfing for 22 Years I feel my opinion is valid, I didnt say anything untoward and If you cant take any comments dont post in a public domain!... Maybe try 'proper' surfing where you need to be able to paddle out etc ;O) and you wont be so aggro
I surf the coast as often as possible, but this is my nearest wave. As for paddling, the regulars here are the strongest paddlers you will find just about anywhere. We paddle in a rip which is regularly well over 10 knots, and in some areas of the river you will be around 500 metres from the bank . But my serious point is that the forces at work in this wave are so different to the sea that it counts for little until you've ridden it a few times. Give it a try
Extremely difficult to get into it. Take off on that far bank is not much more than ankle deep most of the time, and the river current is still flowing against anyone paddling for the wave. Also, the force of the wave is pushing people towards the far bank.
All in all, pretty sketchy. I have tried to bodyboard this spot about 6 or 7 times on quieter days , missed the wave mostly, got nailed big time twice.
I could answer that, but if you found this vid through an australian surfer's website, maybe I could give you a better response there, where I can show links to a couple of other vids that explain it pretty well.
nice video. just wondering if you know where he rode the wave to from that spot?!! Because if its where i think it is the wave isnt rideable for 2 miles.
i'm not sure as it was only my second time riding the bore. Phil who rode it for the longest has been riding it for over 15 years. It may be that he had to walk back for 2 miles! sorry i'm a bit vague! i'll try and find out.
I've heard SK, Trev and Seq (regular crew)all say that under exceptional circumstances you CAN connect out of this section. Looking at the video, I would say this was an exceptional tide.
This is probably the best video I've seen of the Severn bore - the footage in the wider section is the best I've seen of the bore - and the way the wave breaks at Severn Bore Inn is absolutely astonishing.

If you knew what you were talking about, maybe that might be a worthwhile view

Or for a serious answer...

Part of the answer is to do with endurance.
