Trust me, places like Chicago, St. Louis and Memphis are not prepared even for a 6.0 quake.

If Chinese government are killing Tibetans then how come ethnic Tibetan population has GROWN since China took over? China has done so much to help Tibet. Only those who had power before China took over wants to Free Tibet so they can grab it for their own.
The CIA has been funding for Dalai Lama years now. No one thought it was suspicious that the first thing Dalai Lama did was to visit U.S. after the Tibet riot broke out. Oh yeah, it was just for a compassion speech in Washington... Bullshit!

An earthquake happens in China once every 30 years. Tornado alley in the US kills people every couple of months. Wildfires burns people to death in California every year too. Guess white people are evil too.

dslcobra, what planet do you live on? We do get Earthquakes. I was in SF in 1989 for one, 7.1, during the world series A's vs Giants. If it weren't for that game, quite a few more people would've died, especialaly on the Bay Bridge.
Cylones, uh, have you heard of hurricane Katrina? That's what we call cyclones here in the western hemisphere, hurricanes. Wouldn't you know I live here now. Moved here from SF a few months after the earthquake. The worst earthquake in the US hit St Louis.

the problem with china is, the population density is so high that any natural disastor will turn out to be a major one. A similar quake that, say, in the mid-west will at most cause a 10 dead, simply because nobody lives there.
don't worry though, californioa and japan both live right ontop of faults, you can bet they won't miss out on the fun in the next 30 years.

I can assure you that if a 7.9 hits in the mid-west it will be much worse than a similar magnitude quake hitting either Japan or California. I know for a fact that very few of the buildings there are up to earthquake code whereas in Japan and California they have been reinforcing the infrastructure for years. Trust me, places like Chicago, St. Louis and Memphis are not prepared even for a 6.0 quake.

I think it would be wise to cancel the olympics, the geography of the nation is unstable, the politics of the nation is oppressive, the human rights in China is right out of the dark ages and the Chinese have much to deal with concerning this current
