  • Yes, I think the tension this piece is supposed to create has been mostly lost this time due to the very slow tempo.

  • Little bit wooden... That's just my opinion though.

  • tooooo slow!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the slowest tempos I've ever seen used for this piece. I suppose it's fine for interpretation, but you should try to create more tension in the Agitato section, it was like something from Debussy, not Rachmaninoff.

  • I really like this interpretation :) very meaningful. I love how your right hand flicks off the keys during the big chords!

  • oyes gracias por responder no pense que supieras español ami tambien me gusta tocar el piano toco muchas de las que tu tocas la de rachmaninoff este enproceso estoy batallando al leer las notas pero me gusta y hago lo posible gracias

  • Related videos says it all, most other versions of this song seem to be around 4 minutes.

    just sayin'

  • mlal95 lo primero pareces un jarron:no paras de echarte flores;lo siguiente, no creo k suba todas las que toque

  • lo que hace grande a una persona es la humildad.

  • wow this is much too slow. work on your speed.

  • it says lento. Let him interperet it his own way.

  • it makes the song sound dragged out and tired. listen to Rachmaninoff's actual recording, it is slow but with life and passion.

  • im ana amature myself ,but i think u need to listen to urself more, and put more emotion into the music u play,MAKE MUSIC,there are so many posibilities and different touch u can use,ur performance sounded a bit flatt and non legato.

  • you make it look so easy to play! you are very good :)

  • A little faster and it would sound even better!!

  • Still one of my favorite pieces, and so beautifully played!

  • i prefer a little quick..

  • Fantasic really, the slower tempo is much better

  • very underrated. thanks for slowing it down a bit, it is better not rushed. still passionate and moving.

slightly slower makes the forte more commanding and powerful. once again very spectacular performance.

  • I´ve seen some of your videos, and i have to say....you are really great!!!! I´m learning to play piano, and I hope some day I can play like you...at least worse than you! ....congratulations...

  • Dude, youre a beast.

I bow down. Perfect pitch havin sobs!!!

  • very good

  • I think it should be played a bit faster and with more passion.

  • I agree and disagree. It is more showy at a brisker tempo but hearing at this tempo does not mean there is less passion. you can wail the keyboard passionately at a largo. I think that the fast has it's characteristics and the more introspective tempo here has in turn it's own as well. I think it is fast where it counts and for me, redefines the slower parts. I like it fast, but it is still just as emotional..though differently emotional..at this tempo.

  • To anybody that accuses someone of tempo. , Chopin himself stated that "The way I interpret a piece is unique, I do not wish my students or anyone else interprets the piece the same as me, they should ifn their own way of doing it" something like that anyway, but what he was trying to say is, in this case unless it's drastically slow or fast, then this interpretation is great!

  • Wow, you're very good. I'm learning this piece but haven't finished it yet.

    5 stars !

  • i LOVE this song, and you did it GREAT

Mes respects =)

  • uoi daccord.

  • this is my piece...but damn how the hell do you memorize them...i can barely memorize it...i usally forget it in a day or 2....:'(

  • mostly muscle memory i guess. Thats how i memorize my pieces.

  • hahha,,,u gez ur ryt,,,ive stopped with this piece but i still love listening,,,my pieces ryt now are Chopins Etude in E Opus 10 no 3, Mozarts Turkish March and Chopins Waltz in A flat "L'adieu",,,hahha,,im still practicing,,,

  • i like it much more violent, especially the reprise...but nicely played nevertheless

  • Hot damn, I have spent the past half an hour watching your videos. You are amazing!

  • I think you played very good , BUT the part from 2:06 to 2:41 was much too chaotic and you coulnd't hear the melody properly because the other voices were played too loud (that's what I think)

Nevertheless the rest was great ! =)

  • Yer, I have the same problem with this piece.

  • awesome. I hate when people say "too slow" or "too fast". The piece doesn't have a metronome marking, it just says "lento", if I'm not mistaken. So unless it's drastic (which yours isn't by any means), those people have no right to talk about their tempo opinion.

  • Absolutely breath-taking. The emotional dynamics are wonderful. Thank you for posting.

  • 2 stars: Rachmaninov isn't it!!! Rachmaninov is more violence, more romanticism, more open sounds!!!!

This interpretation would be good only for Chopin. Not for Rachmaninov.

  • Strange nick you picked, Rachmaninov. Wait a sec, you're not him!

  • I always forget it. My comment was for ilmira93

  • watch?v=0Wddtne7KSs look, please!

    isn't it like I say?

  • He's right though, this needs more emotion.

And we know this because we've heard Rachmaninov play -- as ilmira93 says, this isn't it.

  • yeah i agree with you, i miss the dynamic and rythmical balance

  • OK for the average level?!

You certainly meant for the average level of a professionally trained pianist, didn't you?

Poor jealous man, shut up and try to appreciate the music that is generously delivered by a "one of a kind" musician!

  • I'm sorry man, but you have no idea what you are talking about. If you don't play piano, then a monkey would be genious for you. It has nothing to do with jealous. You guys always say only positive things, but if you see something to improve you just turn it off, what you don't get is that nobody learns nothing from that. Reading comments here, this pianist might be considered as Kissin or Horowitz. I'm sorry, but he is way too far from the professional level, which doesn't mean that he is bad

  • First of all, English is not my mother tongue and I did not know that "shut up" was such an offending phrase...my english teacher used it commonly hence, I apologize if you felt irritated.

Secondly, YOU are the one who has NO idea of what he says because : DAVID BERUBE IS A PROFESSIONAL PIANIST WHO CURRENTLY PERFORMS IN CANADA!!!

  • And I forgot something very important: Offending people that you don't even know is extremely impolite. So don't tell tell me to shut up. You like it - you write it. I wrote what I think, this is what comments are used for.

  • So go and check on the Internet, which, even if it has some flaws, could have spared you the humiliation caused by someone whose first language is not even english!

I feel sorry for you since I, myself, couldn't stand beeing told in French to close my mouth by someone who's utterly right and who happens to be from an other language!!

So in an indisputably polite way : Please try and think twice before you expose yourself to public execution.

Precious piece of advice for you ;)

  • superb!

  • really nice to see your vedio.better than any other music cd.all th best for you.

  • the "info" section doesn't have enough info. It's a great composer, but you forgot something. It's a great pianist too.

  • Really nice nice song, it makes me feel all the sadness of a war...you have a beautiful expression when u play. Good work.

  • too slow

  • Such a gentle thoughtful version of that famous concerto.

  • 5 étoiles

  • It sounds better in my opinion to use chords like that and let them clash just a bit by playing at a more steady pace with light pedaling. I respect you interpretation though. Hopefully my opinion helped instead of just being an annoying remark. Thank you for the video...

  • You play too well for your recording devices! I like the poise you have very much; full of balance and control, with accents occasionally. Good choice of composition also. A very meaningful piece. I think maybe you played it played a BIT too slow for a while there as it lost it's natural flow. The notes had great significance, but they seemed few and far between in that way.

  • Vraiment bon! Keep it up man :)

  • great composers need good interpretators !! you are one of them.

  • beautiul

  • Wow!!! Your amazing!
