The song Beyond The Sun was not written By ShineDown.
It was written by Christopher Rice.The Band he was in was 3AE based in Orlando.
Chris was tragically killed in a car accident not long after he signed a record deal with RCA.The record was never produced and Shinedown got the song and produced it on their record.In Memory of Christopher Rice.

Megus, this song uses an alt tuning which the guitar is tuned down 1 1/2 steps low to high: C# - F# - B - E - G# - C#
As for the singing... Eh... maybe the right tuning will help him sound better?
Always helps to sing the right lyrics too
