Your story inspired me to climb a mountain. I now know what you mean by learning lessons the hard way. Getting to the top was not a problem and I was all happy for myself when I did, and I felt exhilarated. But then coming down, I got lost/stranded on a really steep face, and had to call rescue people. I felt so embarrassed. It's not your fault though, it's mine. I know the mistake I made. I thought if I go over this one ridge, it would take me back faster, but the other side became too steep
oh and I love the song............... btw I don't know how many schools u visited but I go to Berry Creek Midle School in Edwards Colorado. I was very excited when they told me u were visiting!
Wow I remember You!!!! You came to my school a couple of days ago. I thought your presentation was very inspirring. I'm the girl that was sitting next to the boy that had his hand up the whole time untill U answered his question. I still can't believe I met u in person. This is very fantastic. U already made world records I can tell my children I met a very very important person!
Well done Roz! Who wants to die with memories of the inside of an office...? People CAN make a change, with self belief, grit and determination you have proved that. I hope that many follow your lead and change themselves and influence change on others. A change for the best. One life.
After I read your comment I had that tune going round in my head for days. It's a classic.
It is indeed a spirit quest, and it's endlessly fascinating. I meet so many wonderful people along the way - it really does feel like a pilgrim's progress.
As for the name - after hating it most of my life, now I am quite proud to be a Savage. Strkes me the savages of this world know a lot more than the average "civilised" person!

I keep humming, 'When a Knight Won His Spurs.'
You are definitely taking the spirit of that old English school song to heart:
"Let faith be my shield and let joy be my steed
'Gainst the dragons of anger, the ogres of greed
And let me set free with the sword of my youth
From the Castle of Darkness the power of truth!"
You're on your spirit quest. A lovely thing to see in this day and age.
Yet your last name remains the greatest irony for me. For you are truly the Civilized Savage.
