This kid is a JOKE!!!!. When I was 9 I played on an U-12 CYSA regional all star team, at 12 I was playing for a CYSA U-14 Olympic development team. These are basic skills that any remotely talented kids can master. This kid is just as good as any of the Kids I played with back when I wore the reversable jerseys at 6....lol... get back to me in a few years I want to see whats become of the 9 year old who can handle a ball. I guess anyone can post anything on youtube.
WAIT WAIT WAIT, people are saying hes average? seriously? look hes 9 - even 10 now maybe, hes young, hes physical body and brain hasnt developed to that of a 12 year old yet... for hes age hes good, - no better then good hes brilliant, i know a few kids who are better then him, but this is england, were known for drinking tea and playing football. This kid is in the USA, not the best place for football ( soccer ) so what do you expect. Im not a coach but i know this much - this kid is good.
dude, he's not bad, but he's no different than a lot of other 9 year olds. I'm an U-8 coach from London and one of my players is being looked at by AC Milan.
your little boy is decent, but he's a lot to work on: work primarily on his speed, agility and develop his strength on the ball, cos he's easily pushed off on the vid. work on his running with the ball and understanding principles of passing into space and movement off the ball. he's promising, but still has a whole lot to work on.Regards
I wasn't aware that any PDP changed their age requirements. Especially Milan! Isn't it a FIFA law that no one under the age of 10 can be in a Pro development program? The only exception I ever heard of was Wayne Rooney @ 8 with Everton, but that was before the law. Well, if that is true best of luck to that kid!
as for your comments on THIS vid I can tell you only watched the first 40 seconds, because if you would have watched the whole thing you would see your suggestions are contradicted.
He needs to work on strength??? I saw him get shoved off the ball once @ :37 and he still recovered! He has great strength against kids twice his size @ 2:012:222:35.
You stated he needs to work on running with the ball,There is a whole section of the video marked as "Dribbling" 1:28 You said he needs to put the ball in space. He put a great ball accross the feild into space for the forwards. @ :30
If you just want to be a jerk and mock a 9 year old please keep your comments to yourself!!!
anyways, i've noticed that all you base your 'smart' remarks on with regards to my comment, in which I de facto praised the boy, is your measly experience with youth coaching. i should take an E course? whatever that is son, i've done all levels up to UEFA B inclusive, something u probably haven't even heard of with the american system. do u know that the way they educate coaches in america, their qualifications dont even count in europe and they have to redo them if they wanna work here?
Why haven't you re-commented on the contradictions I pointed out? maybe your UEFA B made you too head strong. Perhaps you should retake the FA level 1. (Equivalent to the E course)
... and you would have to take all of our courses if you wanted to coach here. That fact would apply in any region change....
this just shows how u Yanks know f**k all about football in europe and academy level development. no one under age of what? my fellow coach's little son is 4 and his parents signed him up to Chelsea academy, cos he's already better than some 6 year olds.
you should talk to some people actually involved with football before you talk rubbish just for the sake of replying to a comment..
Wow! Calm down Hugh Grant! Read what I wrote again... "I wasn't aware" "Well, if that's true I wish him luck"
Let me get this strait. you accuse me about being a know f**k all about footy in Europe and your arrogant, pompous behavior permits you to critique a child based on a 4 minute video???"he's not bad, but he's no different than a lot of other 9 year olds" NOT A COMPLIMENT! No, us yanks don't have a lot of stars, so why would you want to hurt a child's dreams by telling him he's average?
Oh, if you are a U-8 coach I hope you aren't trying to force speed and agility on them.... You realize every kid is different when it comes to growth right??? Speed and agility isn't even a factor until right before puberty. Development for U8 children is for ball control and nothing else. all the other stuff comes in time.... That's not my opinion, that is straight from the FIFA development guide. If you are a coach I suggest you take the E course.
and u're teaching me about speed and agility development in young players? ''Development for U8 children is for ball control and nothing else.'' ??? what r u on about? what about passing, movement, running off the ball, speed with and without the ball, agility? age 5-9 is crucial for developing agility and quickness in young children, not only with regards to football.. if you're just looking to argue with someone after a hard day at the office, go to a nearby pub.
FIFA development guidelines (World wide) states that the main focus for children under 10 is ball control. What that means is that if they are NOT good at all of the above critiques you made about my son it's NO BIG DEAL. I never said you don't drill the other stuff. I just said you don't get down on a child at that age who isn't good at it yet!!!!!!
But, the fact remains My son is very good at all the comments you suggested he wasn't. There is no possible way for you to decide that for him from one video! Not even if you're Alex Ferguson.
How is strength on the ball or speed relevant at 5-9???? You do realize kids grow physically don't you? So strength, speed and agility come in time.
Also, please reread all of my retorts imagining me calm. I think you believe I'm yelling through the computer when I'm not. I can see you are blatantly angry.
im sorry hes a good 9 year old but a lot of players can do all that they just prefer to keep it simple he needs to look up when he does tricks also cause it opens up space for a pass and his competition is terrible if u want him to get better put him on elite or premier teams
Keep doing what your doing. You only can work and train with the people around you. If you see the drive then make sure you support him all the way. Him and my kid may be on the US eam together someday. Good luck!
well i've seen better I have a 9 year old on my U-12 team and he is wayyyy better than this kid sure he is pretty crafty but not as crafty as the kid I know so ya
This kid is American? He's very good. I'd like to know what's being done to avoid the "Freddy Adu Syndrome." Also, how young do kids in this country start going to places like Bradenton or whatever Brad Friedel's camp is called?
tons of kids in Florida he age can do that too, nothing special really, many kids his age are that skilled also I dont know if he has the size to be able to go to a football trial
He is playing up. He's aged for U10, but he's playing U12. He's a little tall for his age, but not much and there are other 9 and 10 year olds out there too.
It's 8v8. There's a long explanation why I'm pro small groups on small fields at a young age, but I won't get in to it right now. As for the space it's mostly because either the defense isn't pushed up or the forwards are to far back. Most of the time the kids are constantly under pressure, which is a good thing. It helps them learn.
show me some goals from a dead ball and then i'll commend this kid. his long distance shooting needs work. also his long passes are lacking in height and accuracy. i would dominate him.
Anyone who works with kids knows that that basics come first. Accuracy before power. If you see a 9 year old that can blast the ball far or high it just means he physical developed faster. If you were to rate a child on how good he is at soccer by how hard he can kick the ball you are stifling that child. Later on at a high school or college level you may be able to dominate on set pieces and dead balls, but what good are you the rest of the game??? Sorry, but I disagree. First things first.
I was making an attempt at a joke. I honestly can't find a flaw with this kid's talent given his age. He is a much better player than I was at his age. The power to strike the ball will come with growth. Don't take people's youtube comments so seriously ;)
Sorry, I don't see your original comment. I understood what you were saying though. It was a dead ball situation right? I have the email, just don't see the comment for some reason.
If I commented back to you it was just because of the ongoing argument between youth coaches. A lot of coaches look for players based on how well they can kick the ball. I look for how well they put themselves in the game and how well they can handle the ball.
The one thing he needs to improve on is his shooting. Have him take some risks and take some long range shots! The goalkeepers aren't that good anyways. Good through balls to his teammates. His shielding is average, but he will learn the proper way as he matures. But jockeying would be a good thing to teach him now, so it will be easier for him to perform in the future. He's a little rough around the edges, but I think I underestimated him a bit.
Alright, a bit better video than last time. I never said that he /needed/ to learn all of the things I mentioned right now. But by the time he hits his teen years, he /will/ need to learn how to jockey and shield the ball better. All of the kids then won't just dive in for the ball. It just seems like he does too much showing off during the games, and he'll just get trampled after doing all of that when the other players' skill levels grow. I never said there was anything wrong with his ball
wow wats up wit all the negative comments. the kids 9 years old. and why are we putting comments telling how this kid should improve. hes goin to learn with coaches not youtube
I said to take a risk and try longer ranged shooting. I never said he had to. It's called constructive criticism. It's supposed to help you. I am twelve and I take constructive criticism. I don't complain. I practice. And everything I said wasn't negative.
And why aren't we putting comments on how a future prospect should improve? Don't you think the kid should get better?
I get what you are saying, but if you are 12 years old you are 3 years more physically developed than him. Any youth soccer program will tell you power is not important at this age, but accuracy is. Yes, he does take shots from far out. Are they powerful shots? No. Does he have good form taking those shots? Yes. That's why I put them under "jumping through the ball" at the end of the video. His form is great! Power will come in time...
yeah i know... everyone is like he needs to learn to do this or that!!!! HE IS 9!!!! at that age.... he needs to learn long division!! give him a minute do develop he has great promise!
