Weird I didn't mind the names at all. especially when I was a kid and when I played the game, I remember seeing the names some where before. I then it came to me and I was like LOL.

Megaman X5 is my favorite video game of all time. and its not just because its the 3rd video game i ever played and the first i ever beat. the level design, the music, the bosses, the epic throwbacks to older games, the BLACK DEVIL!!! (that boss was my childhood nightmare), I love X5 :)

No apology was neccesary Alyson people are going to complain about anything nowadays in my opinion it seems like people search and really look for anything at all to cry about. Another example would be people complaining about sonic having green eyes in one of the more recent Sonic the Hedgehog titles. Trolls are gonna be trolls and that's all there is to it.

I honestly think that she has nothing to apologize for. Sure, I know some people who prefer the Japanese names, but who really cares? Those names gave the Mavericks more personality in my opinion. Besides, it's already well established that Capcom liked Guns N' Roses anyway. Neon Tigers theme from X3 was basically just a 16 bit version of their song "My Michelle" (Thank you @Clement64J2 for that tid-bit of info). Localization has done, much, much worse things to games/anime. This is nothing.

I personally could have cared less, both then and now; in fact i thought at the time that i played, around 13 years old, that it was a funny little touch, made them memorable to me.

Sorry she had to take the heat from purists over such a stupid event.

From what I know, those characters where not even preestablished, they just originally followed the "Maverick naming conventions" with "Element" "Animal" (eg Sting Chameleon or Launch Octupus). I can see why someone could wonder why they don't do in MMX5 but if people actually raged about it, that would be a sad thing. The Voice Acting on the other hand... I love it. It's so bad. But then again, it was still an early time for voice acting in videogames.

People that play the Japanese version of the game in America are stupid. It's not better, its just impossible to understand. Purists need to stop crying. This is the first I have heard of people complaining about the awesomeness that is X5. Usualy its just X6. Weeaboos need to get he heck out. Duff McWhalen FTW.

I remember those days the game was called "Guns n Roses Megaman" and had no idea why because I get the japanese version first and never touch US version until last year. What a surprise of see they changed the maverick names.

Am I the only person who LIKED the name changes? I thought it was pretty awesome and gave the Mavericks way more personality than the "Specialty Animal" naming conventions. I'm a huge fan of the X series and really dug how it seemed to me like they were expanding on generic bosses and painting a more colourful pallet.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the shoddy translation work done on X6 was FAR MORE worth crying over than this. :P
