yay larger cupholders... who really uses the larger cup holders i mean driving is driving dont need to drink anything when im driving, just focus on what you're doing and maybe you can reduce the risk of collisions. good video though thanks for posting
@WizenedWarrior and what about your passengers? do they not need bigger drinks holders? this isn't a problem for the EU market as our drinks aren't as large as they are in America but im guessing they did the research and this was one thing they believed they needed to change
I think FIAT was the last manufacturer in Europe that invented cupholders. My 15 year old FIAT has no cupholders, because i think it is build for the European way of driving, which is in my opinion a seperation of driving and eating. Especially in Italy you can have so nice breaks with cheap real coffee at the bar at any Autogrill on the autostrada...
So to sum it up they made it heavier, took away the ability to feel what the engine is doing, and fixed the suspension with bigger springs and pillow soft dampers. Finally a Fiat the American consumer can handle.
@blakshadow5 Have you any data on these "higher safety standards"? Safercar.gov looks a lot like the long established euroncap.com except the American test still uses the full width semi deformable structure for head-on crashes rather than the more destructive half width barrier.
Excellent explanation done in simple mans language. Every internet ricehead forum hero should start by listening to "engineering" explanations like nvh and suspension changes...instead of making mods and then plucking things from their a#%es to justify it and how they have "improved" standard exhausts, suspension etc.
May God bless Fiat :p

@racrdave They also strengthened the car overall to meet our higher safety standards. So in some ways it's actually better than the European model.

Substance over nonsence always.
