Why is it that, despite being the same technical quality, GameBoy games seem far superior to NES games?

The NES version was ported to the game boy advance, but everything is too tiny to see. It isn't designed for a small screen. You can also get Dr. Mario as a bonus game in Brain Age. Which you can buy in store or download as DSi Ware.

I love dr mario but i always tought the game was broken, dont get me wrong, but its because mark said "stack pills on top"; not exactly, we can kill them horizontally too, but this will work if we put 4 blocks of the same color. I mean, if we get 3 virus and put one pill from their color this will eliminate them; the same for virus-pill-virus-pill, virus-pill-pill-virus, and so goes on

Weird you would review this--I've gotten into old Gameboy games recently and I just happened to find this game at a thrift shop early this month. I've been playing it a lot, and then you post a review! Likewise with Super Mario Land. Perhaps you can do a review of Pyramids of Ra, another addictive Gameboy puzzle game.

Man, we were so hardcore that we bought this on Game Boy AND NES and most recently on Wiiware. Definitely a timeless classic and I wouldn't be ashamed to play it again. It needs another release though. Tetris has enough ports and Columns has enough clones, but nobody messes with the Doctor!

@Myself We also got Tetris & Dr Mario for the SNES. Even more hardcore fans we were. Such a great multiplayer mode "Mixed Match", like the Nintendo World Championships, in which you go through Tetris Type B, then a round of Dr Mario, then finally, an infinite round of Tetris Type A for highest score until you die. Makes me kinda wish they would bring a port of those two on some current Nintendo system because that was a great version too.

Just a side note, Dr Mario Express is on the 3DS and DSi shops for 500 points/$4.99 but you can't play two player, only single player and vs. CPU.

I never played the Game Boy version of this, but I had a lot of fun playing the NES version with my sister back in the mid-90s when I got a sealed copy of the game from one of KB Toys' clearance bins. Ah, for the days when NES carts were considered "obsolete software" rather than "retro classics." The difference? About $60, give or take.
