  • Kim Peek was born on November 11, 1951 and he was very different from other babies and he is severly mentaly retarted and he remember the very first book when he is 8 months old and kim peek was supposed to put him in the insitution is called the american forge and kim peek remembered over 10,000 books and he remembered all the subjects even the bible too and he had a missing corpus collosioum in his brain and he has died on Saturday December 19, 2009and Daniel Tammet will take Kim Peek's Place.

  • he looks kinda like michael moore the film director...RIP Kim peek now you can teach all the other angels your intelligence and humble them

  • He was wrong about game 3 of the 1926 world series. Jesse Haines won that game, Grover Cleveland Alexander won game 2.

  • @CENSOREDFORSEX jeez he needs to work on his memory. ahhah

  • This guy was amazing. I saw in another documentary how he memorized a whole book. You could ask him "What was the 26 word on page 251?" and he would know it.

  • rip kim peek!!!

  • Such a fascinating man.

  • I just discovered this man and am truely sad to hear that he has died.

Although I have only just heard of him, I am so fascinated with him. His mind is indescribable and is without doubt one of the most amazing things that nature has produced.

    R.I.P Kim Peek X

  • r.i.p kim peek

  • What a beautiful mind. RIP

  • I just found out that he died five minutes ago and I was shocked. Rip.

  • RIP Kim Peek, you are one of the most amazing human beings ever to have lived on this planet!

You have always fascinated me, and you always will.

You really are a true genius.

  • RIP Kim Peek, I think the world is lessened with your departure. The amazing brain he had, while flawed, show some of the potential that goes usually untapped. Truly an amazing human being.

  • RIP

  • It said on Wikipedia that he could only walk sideways.

  • @chailizard ??? wtf

  • lolwut

  • @ :40 No sir, Google became him.

  • @Dozzer

    Well said.

    RIP Kim Peek

  • OMG RIP

  • He can read 8 books a day, but naturally he can't REALLY absorb all the information, since information is a non-quantitative thing.

His dad says the only thing he can't do is math-problems -- relating to creativity, imagination, higher mental powers, etc.

  • I didn't know he died. I never heard anything until I read these comments.

  • He was a s p e c i a l mind, indeed special.

    R.I.P Kim Peek,

daddy Fran has lost his shadow now...

    - Greets from the Swedes

  • They should ask what he forgot.

    RIP [i]

  • his father is almost as much of a hero as he is himself

  • lol at matamuram's comment.

  • I love Dr.Rama :D

  • I've read so much about you RIP Kim Peek

  • RIP good sir.

  • A living google. A Loogle, if you will

  • I can't believe he passed away. He was such a great mind.

  • RIP Kim

  • Fascinating

  • amazing dad...

  • hi ar col i tinkh .)

  • 6:02 "shit"

  • Holy shit my good sir

  • wow showed the world....wa we capable of....r.i.p....

  • RIP Kim

  • I can do what he does too.

  • orangutan... wouldn't know the difference between a subject and a predicate if one jumped up and bit him in the place his brain resides.... you're an idiot and a heartless jerk... now go bother somone else, you ignorant creep.

  • and magicalorangutan... you're the person with a problem... honestly, what's wrong with you? think you're missing a few cells in what should be a brain, but probably resembles something more like that which lies about 2 feet below that...

  • I worked with Kim for over a decade. I knew him long before his Rainman days. He was a wonderful man and extremely funny, but he spoke in predicates, so you had to "draw out of him" what the subject was... it was interesting to speak with him on virtually any subject, and he was an amazing friend of mine. God blessed me when he brought Kim into my life.

  • it's so amazing how much we don't know yet about ourselves brains, this video is really inspiring

  • god blessed him with that type of knowledge, thats serious!

  • RIP kim, we all loved ur spirit, may u rest it peace

  • Orangutan. you're wrong, Kim didn't rely on his daddy in every way. He had physical disabilities, and I guess such people don't deserve help, right. Btw, he wasn't retarded, check Wikipedia, if you want. I suppose you are someone's boy/girl too...

  • Rip he sure left a great foot print in this world he sure was a black sheep to this world but he sure had a brain.

  • What gets me is when people downgrade people with a disability. Look at it from this angle. Peek has surpassed a world that is too slow to keep up with his mental pace. That is why some autistic people are in institutions. Not because they are slow, but because the rest of the world is beneath them in retention. So people like Kim cannot filter out the things to maintain pace with a society that is miles behind him. We can learn much here. I too have a similar condition.

  • Magicalorangutan2, people who make comments like that do not deserve to live. I bet you would never dare to say anything like that to anyone in real life. It's so easy to bash people on Internet because you don't have to worry about getting your face stomped. You are a very sad person indeed.

  • It is believed he could recall the content of at least 12,000 books from memory.

  • Sad that he's dead.

  • The People, from my experience people who say they don't wish someone to experience something that this someone is mocking of (or insulting), in reality do wish him exactly that, so he could suffer and crave for his "lost normalcy". It's not unlike wishing a killer to be tortured and killed. But both (your and Noely's) reactions are the reflections of quite human traits, one and another are hurt in some way, so go ahead all of you, and give vent to your anger and pain, hehe.

  • @mujotomi, now that's how you should bitch. lol

  • ThePeople, Hustler et alia, why don't you try to perceive Noely as another kind of miracle and maybe ignore him/her at worst. With comments like these you can't be much different than he/she is (I suppose you heard it all before, but anyway...). Hustler, if you suppose Noely is unwanted, miserable etc., then why hurting him/her some more?

  • his father is a truly great man

  • 'a living google', great quote

  • such a brain in a man!! Rest in peace!!

  • Hey noely321 - i bet you're mum is proud of you. COCK

  • @noely321 fuck you douchebag he's way cooler then you and have some respect for the dead

  • @noely321 I didn't say he was cool i just said he's cooler then you. Besides you shouldn't judge anybody because of the way they look.

  • I dont ever write obscene comments on youtube.. ever. its pointless and just narrow minded, but.. you... have given me reason to break this standing. you are the most ridiculous excuse for a human. you have no purpose to be on the earth.. bet you have a shit job and are stuck in a life you dont want. unhappy and unwanted in general! you are without doubt mentally challenged also, but not in a special way - in a pointless, meaningless worthless way.

    sorry noely321,

  • You know what i never have felt this way before against someone else i hope, and in know way wanting this to happen to anyone, that you will have a child like this and i hope you see the miracle these people really are. and at that in my rage: you can go to hell and burn there.

  • RIP Kim

  • equally fascinating and touching.

  • How brilliant it must be to retain such vast amounts of information. I don't think we'll ever see anyone like Kim Peek again. And props must go to his dad for looking after him for so long.

  • RIP what a great guy!

  • I watched the show on him the other day, wasn't aware at all that he passed away, he was an amazing guy.

  • Did they take some of his DNA? This would be a serious leap in human evolution.

  • btw what is it with paki's indians and top scientist professors, always some mohinder suresh type lol xD

  • yea he's amazing rip and all that.. but he sounds exaclty like the retarded people that you come across in assassins creed xD xD roflmao

  • RIP

  • he's amazing! Rip x

  • FUK ALL THOSE LITTLE ASSHOLES WHO THINK PEOPLE WHO ARE RETARDED ARE FUCKING DICKHEADS copy and paste if you think mentelly retarded people are normal like us

  • R.I.P.

  • At last, he will no longer be subject to these fucker scientists who can't keep their hands off him. Let the beautiful things die in peace, we don't deserve them.

  • well said.

  • RIP!

  • twss @ i have so many things in me, you cant even count XD

  • Niesamowity człowiek...

  • just amazing

  • [*] :( R.I.P :(

  • I was sad to read the paper saying that he died. I feel so sorry for his dad.

  • Yeah, me too...I can't imagine what he's going through! :'(

  • at 8:25 i thought he said shower, i was like wut ?

  • Youre dumb though

  • He's just gorgeous...I would have loved to have met him in person...and his father is just amazing...I am so intrigued by this story...the first I have ever heard of it!!

  • You can't argue over facts with this guy, that's for sure.

    R.I.P.

  • Such a touching relationship between father and son....real love.

    RIP Kim

  • I think he has aspergers a type of autism where they have extreme iintrest in things making them very vey intelligent but then again will most likely not go to any type of school because with aspergers they can't function in normal society

  • this is Savant syndrome

  • Rymicka, you should read something more about Kim. He was not considered autistic, and he didn't concentrate to only 2 things in his life. He has been said to be kind of expert in some 15 areas...

  • RIP Kim Peek

  • What a wonderful dad

  • [*]

  • there isn't in italian?? or subtitle....

  • living google hehe

  • he doesnt seem as retarded as rain man

  • he is not "retarded" he is AUTISTIC the same special type as Rain Man called SAVANT it means he is concentrated on one thing in this case time and language. And AUTISM is not a retardation but genetical mutation of how the brain "sees" the rality.

  • RIP Kim. I've always admired you. Your never be forgotten . !!!

  • While he was an amazing mind, I would still prefer my brain to his.

  • rofl@@@

u are so jelous of kim peek@@

  • @zeimarunescape

Yeah, im totally jealous of being autistic. I would totally trade my fully functioning brain to be able to remember everything.

    tool.

  • Well yeah, I still prefer my brain to ANYONE else's!

  • RIP. your a true hero

  • hes a fucking genius to bad he passed. there sould be more people like Kim peek .RIP kim i hope you are in heaven and still read books there and talk to god every day about your skils you are a godd man.

  • oh, that's too bad the guy passed. These videos about him are kinda entertaining.

  • R.I.P.

"You don't have to be handicap to be different"

    Kim Peek

  • This amazing human being and most beautiful person, Kim Peek, has passed away on this day. I am grateful for his sweet presence among us all these 58 years of his miraculous life! He has shown each person he touches something incredible about their self, in his own way. I bless his father and mother for all the love, encouragement, hard work, and belief in Ken that they have shown. May his spirit rest peacefully, and his family find comfort and healing from their loss.

  • Don't wanna think about how his life will be when his father passes..

  • Kim passed on a few weeks ago.

  • The split brain is soooo fascinating. I really cant wait to watch the rest of this. Also, Go Ramachandran!

  • RIP you Legend

  • man....if he went on "who wants to be the next millionaire" that'd be quite a show, but then again we all know he'd get all the answers right.

    RIP kim peek.

  • rest in peace <3

  • Awesome Person, touching story!

    Rest in Peace Kim =)

  • Rest in Peace buddy.

  • He's so cool. His dad aswell.

  • Rest in Peace Kim

  • may you "Rest In Peace"

  • Kim Peek lived by the gun and died by the gun.

  • Thank God, for KIm.

  • I would really like to see him becoming a man who wouldn't be called a retard by some people anymore (those people hardly understood that IQ of 87 isn't so close to retardness). Btw, I bet his IQ was higher in his last decade than it was when measured in his youth.

  • Yes MrTrueGenius,he supposedly began to connect and evaluate more what he had read, and since the Rain Man,he became more self-conscious,sociable (allegedly he didn't look people in the eyes before), and even began reading about more mundane things.

  • What an incredible life and story. Everyone has talents, no matter who they are. Some has few and some many, like Kim. I applaud Kim's father Fran for dedicating his life to Kim.

  • Holy shit, this guy is awesome!

  • The pity of his unexpected death is that, I hear, he was beginning to change and grow in a way he had not before, towards the end. He was beginning to break out of that rigidity which savants show. Shame.

    RIP Kim Peek.

  • I must say what a great father too.. Never gave up on him at all and took care of him until his death.

    RIP Kim Peek

  • RIPP

  • Kim was actually reincarnated as Wolfram Alpha, so it's all good.

  • R.I.P. Kim Peek

  • Amazing man, and a touching story.

On an obscure note, can anyone help with the musical piece that starts at 8:50? It is used in a lot of movies...

  • sound a bit like "Music for a Found Harmonium" check out the Patrick Street version

  • yes it is Music For A Found Harmonium

  • I remember watching this documentary when it first ran on tv. this man is very special and one of a kind.

    R.I.P. Kim Peek.

God has blessed you with a brilliant mind, and shall be blessed in heaven.

  • R.I.P. Kim Peek.

his story of love, possibility, and change is so moving and inspiring.

    <3

  • American Fork is the name a Utah city. There is a mental institution in American Fork called The Utah State Developmental Center where ppl with diabilities are cared for and I laughed to think of the town being designated as a mental hospital.

  • He was such a fascinating individual. RIP

  • RIP KIM

  • It's only said she divorced his father, and that she survived Kim. But I didn't search too deep and wide, so I don't know, though it would be interesting to know what her "part" in Kim's life was...

  • wat in the world happened to his mum? i've searched high and low for info on that and cant find any?

  • When I saw Rain Man, first time earlier this year, I cried. Now knowing about the inspiration behind it, Kim Peek, I am moved. May his soul rest in peace. I salute his parents and more so his father for the unconditional love and attention they gave him instead of shunting him off to an institution. May God bless them.

    Gaurang G. Vaishnav

  • R.I.P Sir Kim !! U r truly an inspiration !! Iam vry moved by this video !!

  • RIP

  • My thanks, and sincere condolences, to Kim's family.

He touched each of us that he met, and will be missed.

  • RIP, Kim.

  • After seeing his character, the relationship between him and his father and the phenomenon that he was I read the comments to find that such a wonder had passed away.

I thought to myself before I knew this that the death of a marvel such as Kim would be heartfelt , and I did feel it.

  • Nice tribute. Personally just found out about Kim's death and now discovering a litttle bit more aout him.

  • haha, I noticed something that he got wrong btw, he was 1 game off with that grover cleveland alexander answer, he pitched in games 2 and 6, some guy named haines was the pitcher in the 3rd game.. I guess no human can be as smart as google lol

  • In later parts his Dad says, he reads a page in about 8seconds, which would take any of us 3mins or more, and gets 98% of the information.

  • THANK YOU!!!! I just read a Lou Gehrig biography and I remembered that. It was Jesse Haines that won game 3. Alexander won 2 and 6, and saved game 7

  • wow.. didn't even realize he died.. I was reading all the comments on here with the "rip" and I was like wtf? RIP

  • He has a gd dad ; rip kim

  • God Bless you and your father Kim. RIP
