  • I was born a year after their first album, and it's one of my favorites.

  • The crowd is really bugging me, they aren't moving :/

  • Superbe souvenirs !

  • the guitar tone is incredible. i wish weezer still really existed instead of being in this money-making fake-band stasis they're in right now.

  • 3:57 :0 rivers!

  • they look really happy

  • I love modern day Weezer, but damn they look so badass in this video.

  • @thetarkone

old school is so much better. everything.

  • Haha, I love this performance. So much energy. You don't see that so much these days

  • german audiences are the worst...

  • @MrPeter203 haha so true!

  • haha 96,. kik

  • I see youtube is taking advice from microsoft on how to speed up the buffer problem... if we ignore it, then it's not a problem

  • weezer is one of the greatest band ever

  • My Name is Jonas-->No One Else-->The World Has Turned and Left Me Here is quite possibly the best start to any album ever written.

  • @p0host Tired Of Sex, Getchoo, No Other One?

  • @tylag8 Yeah and i really dont like my name is jonas

  • @p0host best intro, best middle and best ending to any album ever I think.

  • I want a girl who will laugh for no else.

    fucking genius

I truly hope lil wayne and the rest of the retarded people who the young ones listen to go to hell

  • @darintaylor79

You mean to say that you want people to burn in fiery damnation for...making music ? (assuming you subscribe to the Christian faith)

  • @TallFastLoud Not sure if you can call it music.

  • @TallFastLoud thinking about john lennon burning in hell (seeing as he would be according to the bible) is all it takes for me to realize there is no hell and christianity is a joke.

  • thats what blink 182 want to be haha

  • @raulishoogallagher well blink doesnt make that good music anymore ( i assume their new record will suck) but raditude.... no.

  • One of my ultimate favorite Weez songs <3

  • i just realized...when rivers stopped using his blue strat, their music started to get worse...

  • This makes me long for the days when I didn't have to say "Weezer is my favorite band, but I only really like the first two albums."

  • haha i alway say their first two albums too.

  • everyone does...

  • @kiwieata i like all the albums a ton, blue and pink are my fav i think though but i actually really like green and maladroit and make believe and red, raditudes not bad but its not as good as blue or anything but they are still the best godam band ever.

  • @fuchalo next to the beatles of course

  • @kiwieata green was amazing too. i qualify mine by saying first three albums. but i could understand saying first two :D

  • @FatherofMan25 I will give you green, it's not bad. Best thing they've done post-90s. It's just really disapointing that Pinkerton saw Rivers evolve so much as a song writer, and then he decided to cater to ten year olds.

  • funny, on the blue album this song is in standard tuning and here it is half down step like all the set list.

  • might be cause of the recording i find a lot of old recordings from video to computer often have weird sound, usually a pitch down or something, but yeah quite odd!

  • less taxing on rivers' pipes. he does get up there sometimes

  • @joeldesmarais hilarious.

  • best weezer's song!

  • Its so weird how Pinkerton was bashed when it came out and is now considered an excellent album

  • @saodmv even Rivers hated Pinkerton at first. Now he just hates how some fans won't let the band grow and consistently demand his old personal lyrics. Anyway, Hurley is getting good reviews and apparently it's got some of their best work of the past decade.

  • @SirBenjamin88 As far as I'm concerned, a dog taking a shit could be some of their best work of the past decade.

  • first two albums are absolutely electric. green album ain't bad, but just doesn't have the same spark and from there on in it's like they've deteriorated, which is such a tragedy. maybe what's missing is all the little idiosyncracies present on tab and pinkerton, seems like he took the criticism way too hard and they're just playing it safe. think pork and beans recaptured the spirit a little but...AGH! if they could just tap back into the mood of the first two they could be fucking legendary.

  • they need to get matt back

  • Definitely, the band went to shit when he left

  • ALL their albums are good! I like The Blue Album the best, but they are all amazing! I even love Make Believe, and I saw a lot of comments on other Weezer videos where people were saying how horrible it is. I have to agree ifutureman though, because their live vocals have improved.

  • Also, I forgot to say this: I hate it when people who have never heard any of their songs besides for Beverly Hills or Pork and Beans think that they are huge fans just because they know one or two of their more recent songs. And I do not think that Beverly Hills is that great, anyway.

  • I hate Beverly Hills...

  • gotta disagree. maladroit was decent but most every other album has been pretty formulaic and boring. the b-sides were generally more interesting. green day is starting to fall into that same slump of formulaic, boring music that appeals to the masses because it's as clean and shiny as a virgin's genitals.

  • I do not agree about Weezer, but I do agree about Green Day. I think that once a band or a singer signs with a major label and get successful, that is bound to happen, though. You need to accept it, and then you will appreciate it for what it is.

  • I still can't quite place my finger on what it is about Weezer's stuff that's formulaic because they are creative enough to somewhat change it up but you can tell that they're mostly tied down by what the major wants out of them...which is Buddy Holly pt 5, El Scorcho pt 20 (pork & beans, anyone?)...they lost control after Pinkerton and haven't really ever had it back.

  • I agree with mostly everything that you are saying. The Red Album was very much made to meet popular demand for an "artsy" band, but when albums are made to cater to the masses it loses a lot of the art that it could have been. I still think Weezer is great, and there is still time for them to come into themselves again. If they do not make a CD that the label necessarily asks them to make, and really express their creative freedom, they will make a great album.

  • i agree, actually. i think they've done a good job throwing in creative elements despite the restrictions but it's still formulaic and boring for the most part and until they're allowed a much more free reign over their creative path, i doubt it'll improve. but i've heard their contract with geffen is up soon and hopefully some really good will come with that. it's just a shame that rivers took the pinkerton/songs from the black hole thing so personally.

  • Exactly. And you are right, I feel like Rivers hasn't written the same type of lyrics he once did. Maybe I am wrong, but there's been something different about Weezer in general, and I cannot quite figure out what it is, so I will point my finger at the songwriting, and the arrangements, aka his creations. "Stick to our roots" should be their mantra. It would be wonderful for their Geffen contract to be up. Honestly, if they have the means, they should think about self-producing in the future.

  • honestly...not talking lyrics, just music. i'm more of a music guy than lyrics guy...i'm not even talking stick to roots...but the music hasn't "grown" any. It's mostly stayed the same but in the worst ways. maybe it's just that matt needs to rejoin rivers in a songwriting duo.

  • To me, the songwriting has been lacking more than the music. The music has also, but I think less so than the lyrics. The music is really important, but I think the lyrics are too. I do not want to listen to songs that have mindless lyrics. You are right, they have not grown much as a group, either. When I say stick to your roots, I do not mean make the same kind of music as you did ten years ago, but, stay true to yourself (it sounds so corny, yet it is so true.) Remember your "real" fans.

  • I think its funny how you think green day is just "starting" to do this. I think anything after dookie would fall under completely selling out..

  • don't sign to the majors mayun!!! fuckin' sellout!!!

sorry...can't play the little troll dance of punk rock police i thought it was stupid when i was 16 and i still think it's stupid now. i thought they were still pretty much doing their own thing until cigarettes and valentines got rejected. may not have always liked it but at least they were doing their own thing...now it's not even that but repeating a formula and the albums are starting to sound the same...they're turning into pennywise.

  • Totally agree

  • now is that with hair or without hair? lol

  • They fucking rocked this song. Very nice.

  • To all the people who keep harping about how great Weezer "used to be," I'll tell one thing that has definitely improved over the years: their live vocals. The backups on this clip are crap - a LOT of out-of-tune, cracked voices. There's no way that Weezer 1996 could have played and sang "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" the way they can now.

  • that being said the back up vocals on the records have gotten worse and worse since pinkerton. like the harmonys on blue will never be matched

  • I don't think there's any basis to say their backing vocals have gotten worse. "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" has vocal arrangements that dwarf anything on their early albums. And the backups on tracks like Photograph or Keep Fishin' are certainly as good as the early stuff.

It's so fashionable to dismiss Weezer's later work, but I for one am not so narrow-minded. It 's not as good as the debut, but the Red Album is hardly garbage. My favorite Weezer album is Maladroit, anyway.

  • Red is garbage.

  • das ist gut!

  • awesome yeeaaaaaaah

  • i love that little head nod brian does during live performances. it's hilarious

  • damn, the audio is horrible, but the performance was so amazing, and full of energy.

    Love this song.

  • I hate these outdoor rock festivals. Sounds like crap.

  • ughh where did they go wrong?

  • Its so weird to see this stuff. Its somehow so different. Times have changed man.

  • weezer is not punk nor do they try and claim to be. i dont get people labeling bands. if you like the music what does it matter about the genre

  • they're not fake..... he just started to rock contacts because rivs was self concious during the pinkerton era

  • varz looks 2 years old!

  • rivers without glasses?? wow!

  • Actually the glasses are fake

  • Still super weird to see him not sporting them.

  • one of my favorites!

  • this is my favorite live version i've ever heard of this song. i love the way rivers sings that last chorus. and the thrown in "oh-oh"s!

  • yes 1992-1997 was the golden era of weezer

  • It was!

  • at 1:31 is says "pink triangle" at the bottom. wonder why that is.

  • hahahaha 00:49 is so funny! matt's scream.

  • I'm not a "true" fan, but I like some of their stuff...

Do they wear such clothing as "on purpose" or like part of their show, or they actually got to play right after they came from work/school???

    :P

    :)

  • nope. thats weezer. they wear collard shirts and they tuck em in when they play a show. they've always done that. thats why we love them!!

  • being punk means not being held by society s fashion umm...uh...what do you say.... prison?? you know what i mean

i think they are an awesome band

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • this is so much more rock than any of this new shit. watch how much more enthusiastic they are at this show than anything these days. this video makes me incrediibly happy.

  • i wanna go back

  • TO THE GOOD LIFE

  • whats wrong with the new weezer? it seems like everyone hears the new weezer, decides they dont like it, then 5 years later falls in love with it again. (happened to pinkerton, and is happening to make believe)

  • yeah, thats true. personally, i have no prob w/ make believe. i love all weezer music.

  • same here well i just got into the old stuff

  • whats with all the hate? aint nothin wrong with that.

  • Probably because he said his favourite was We are All on Drugs which is pretty much universally hated amongst most Weezer fans

  • I'm drinking to that comment right now. *sniff* God I miss old weezer.*cries into my drink*

  • god. early weezer fucking owned everything
