main thing I'd worry about is the ferret learning aggressive tendencies from hunting, or the mouse possibly hurting it. Otherwise its natural for ferrets to hunt vermin, just like cats hunt vermin. But generally in my opinion domestic ferrets are way more gentle than dogs and cats so I really rather my ferrets not learn about killing things. I'd feed them dead feeders if they ate them though, fresh meat would be better for their health

@dizziekittie ferrets won't become aggressive to people due to hunting. :) I take mine out hunting rabbits [which they are very good at] and they are as sweet as can be. All of my ferrets have hunted and we have never had any temperament issues.

OMG your ferret is BEAUTIFUL!I feed my ferrets a raw diet too including mice.Some times live too.The nay sayers need to do their homework.People who feed live don't do so if the ferret is a bad hunter AND a ferret is a quicker more painless killer than using CO2 and a human botched neck snapping.There is nothing wrong with this and u people need to grow up.It's nature.Sheesh.This person feeding meat like nature intended is better for the fert and reduces illness.

I would do the same if my ferrets would eat them. But sadly I tried for over 6 months to get them to eat a totally raw/prey diet and they just would take to it. Plus all they would do is kill the mice and not eat them. Well besides one, who will still eat a pinky mouse everyday if I had them.

@TheBoofdog hunting with ferrets is typically illegal, unfortunately. there's nothing wrong with giving it a live feeder mouse (we have to do the same thing for snakes; you can't take THEM out hunting, anyway, and they typically have to kill their food or they won't eat it) in the case of ferrets, feeding them their natural prey is what some owners choose (I'd let mine do it if they'd eat them sooner, but I had to keep throwing out the dead mice b/c they were just sitting there gathering germs)

its actually better for the ferret to eat mouse meat , its better than Ferret food , wich is made out of waist meat and other junk

its healthier for them to eat a mouse or a rat every 4-5 weeks if you want your ferret to live longer

and hunting also releases endorfine in the Brain wich makes the ferret happier and lowering the chance of depressiveness

idk about most of you but i dont care for mice , i say let the ferret kill a rat or several mice each month. theres millions of them.
