Tainos werent brought by anyone to the islands. Taino indians are actually arawak indians from south american. How you do know this? Cause the same language used by the tainos were also used by arawak indians from nearby islands down to south america. Venezulean arawak indians spoke the same language as well. When the spanish came to PR and DR they found taino people waiting for them at the shores. A scientific study was done in PR and it was found that 60% of the PR population had taino blood.

i think that there is a lot of racism here in new york city. many people turn a blind eye and don't want to accept the fact that blacks and hispanics are not given the same consideration and job opportunities as whites. many white people have recently moved here from the midwest and have no trouble finding jobs. but when a black or hispanic person moves here from another state it's more difficult. i don't know how you feel about that issue.

peruvians are also very discriminated against. a lot go to argentina and chile to live and work and they don't want them there. it's very sad. the same here in the states peruvians face a lot of discrimination. i haven't faced as much because i am taller and light-skinned (have some great grandparents who were born in spain), but a lot of my peruvian friends have been treated badly due to their more abvious indigenous appearance. USA is a very racist country as are the latin american countries.
@LoneCuetlachtli the reason why peruvians and mexicans look the way they do is because wherever indigenous empires existed the indians were never exterminated and grew rapidly after initial colonial contact. the only three native empires were the incas, the aztecs and the mayas. guatemala and bolivia also have large indigenous pop's. ecuador also. it was easy for europeans to decimate native populations in the usa and carribean because they still lived in a vulnerable primitive tribal state.
@LoneCuetlachtli you're right, most puerto ricans are white. i was just saying that the taino blood is there for some of them, a minority. many also are mixed with black. but puerto rico is like cuba, mostly spaniard and french i believe. i have been to puerto rico and most of them look white. the second largest group there looked mulato and finally a few still look indigenous. i lived in miami too and the cubans there are almost all white, but in cuba itself you can see many black cubans.
@LoneCuetlachtli you're right about puerto rico and peru, but i think that the taino influence in puerto rico is more than people think it is. look at elvis crespo, chayanne, JLo, la India, Erik Estrada, and many of my puerto rican friends here in new york have the high cheekbones and straight black hair and they would not turn heads in peru! the women with taino blood are gorgeous. puerto ricans are mostly european with some african, but many also have the old native blood. similar to cubans.

Los miles de Arabes se mesclaron con los (mestisos) lla mesclados boricuas y es por eso que muchos Boricuas parecemos arabes. El idioma espanol se jodio mas de lo que lla estaba. Very informative video. Sad to be puerto rican myself and not know much of my taino heritage. Within the 3 races that flow through my blood, I personally relate more to my african side. But I do realize the taino blood is deeply rooted inside my DNA. Out of respect for that I named my first born Taina...

Tainos werent brought by anyone to the islands. Taino indians are actually arawak indians from south american. How you do know this? Cause the same language used by the tainos were also used by arawak indians from nearby islands down to south america. Venezulean arawak indians spoke the same language as well. When the spanish came to PR and DR they found taino people waiting for them at the shores. A scientific study was done in PR and it was found that 60% of the PR population had taino blood.

I agree, he is not saying that we are just one blood, or should choose one over the others. He is simply saying that he will acknowledge the fact that he has Taino blood. It makes you a Taino; the culture is part of the Taino life, we have lost it due to lack of acknowledgement. Makes sense. I am Taino and will not let that part of me die. They were in El Borinken 1st..then White man came, raped the indians, brought slaves(not their fault) and so that began the mixing of cultures and thus now.

He says he has all 3 race but he inclines more towards the Taino. It's true we are all mixed but we do choose what we want to be. If we're raised by our puertorican mother, we're puertorican. If we're raised by our African mother but have a puertorican father, we consider ourselves African American and so on. Just let him be people.

i think that there is a lot of racism here in new york city. many people turn a blind eye and don't want to accept the fact that blacks and hispanics are not given the same consideration and job opportunities as whites. many white people have recently moved here from the midwest and have no trouble finding jobs. but when a black or hispanic person moves here from another state it's more difficult. i don't know how you feel about that issue.

peruvians are also very discriminated against. a lot go to argentina and chile to live and work and they don't want them there. it's very sad. the same here in the states peruvians face a lot of discrimination. i haven't faced as much because i am taller and light-skinned (have some great grandparents who were born in spain), but a lot of my peruvian friends have been treated badly due to their more abvious indigenous appearance. USA is a very racist country as are the latin american countries.

@LoneCuetlachtli the reason why peruvians and mexicans look the way they do is because wherever indigenous empires existed the indians were never exterminated and grew rapidly after initial colonial contact. the only three native empires were the incas, the aztecs and the mayas. guatemala and bolivia also have large indigenous pop's. ecuador also. it was easy for europeans to decimate native populations in the usa and carribean because they still lived in a vulnerable primitive tribal state.

@LoneCuetlachtli you're right, most puerto ricans are white. i was just saying that the taino blood is there for some of them, a minority. many also are mixed with black. but puerto rico is like cuba, mostly spaniard and french i believe. i have been to puerto rico and most of them look white. the second largest group there looked mulato and finally a few still look indigenous. i lived in miami too and the cubans there are almost all white, but in cuba itself you can see many black cubans.

@LoneCuetlachtli you're right about puerto rico and peru, but i think that the taino influence in puerto rico is more than people think it is. look at elvis crespo, chayanne, JLo, la India, Erik Estrada, and many of my puerto rican friends here in new york have the high cheekbones and straight black hair and they would not turn heads in peru! the women with taino blood are gorgeous. puerto ricans are mostly european with some african, but many also have the old native blood. similar to cubans.

@LoneCuetlachtli ummm he is definitely mixed, and he definitely has amerindian features. he's obviously mixed with european, and has little or no african. look at his facial structure and his skin, it's telltale, he looks american indian. i have puerto rican friends with those features and some who look almost 100% american indian. BTW not everyone in peru is a full blooded indian. there are whites, blacks, asians, arabs, and anything else you can think of in peru. i know because i am peruvian.

I want to tell you another fact.My maternal grandmother's birth certificate states her race as WHITE.It is so obvious she was not full white.I can also tell you there was no black there either.She was born in 1912.So I do not feel demographics are always correct from that time.The goverment (A well known truth)wanted to erase the memory and history of the tainos in many aspects.Plus,many puerto ricans were ashamed of this heritage.

I had a DNA test from ancestry.com.My results were 27%amerindian and 73 % european .Very strange that you mentioned 25%.That was very close.I'am in my late 30's.So I can see children having alot less.Then again all of my paternal great grandparents were immigrants from Europe(Spain and Corsica).By the way Taino DNA that is discovered mostly comes from very closely related ancestors.

@LoneCuetlachtli I'am puerto Rican.There are a few very old people that have at last 70 percent taino though.They are in the minority.A small very inbred group of most taino ancestry remained the San German area.One hundred years ago. we had towns like Carolina that wre very black as well.As well placs like Mayaguez that weer very white.I can tell you this very few people are pure black.todayAlthough your claim of 51 percent european.Very few have pure white ancestry.

@LoneCuetlachtli First of all I'am from Puerto Rico.No one is saying pure bloods exist.Although there are very old people that come close.There are a very small minority that are from the mountains.The bloodline is very inbred.As A puerto rican I can tell you first hand that most peopl today have african ancestry.even more so with the younger children.Very few of us look like we are from Spain.Although they are more spanish looking puerto ricans than Pure african black ones

Resulta que hay muchos vocablos Tainos ya adaptados al español. No se mucho de ellos pero por lo que he leido eran bravos al igual que sus hermanos los caribes, que peleaban hasta la muerte, por eso su casi desaparicion. No permitieron ser esclavos de nadie. saludos desde Mexico.

Digan lo que digan este buenmozo joven tiene una evidente ascendencia TAINA. Es de un tono de piel mas claro, pero taino; en RD le dicen indio (sin ofender)... y hay regiones con ascendencia taina y se pueden reconocer por sus facciones.
Y chequeen los tainos de Cuba.. ahi si hay!
Los racistas son los que no se mezclan... en el caribe nadie es 100% de ninguna raza o etnia particular... debemos celebrar nuestro sancocho racial y equilibrar la preservacion de esas culturas.

No sabia esto, Puerto Rico no es tan simple como parece, al parecer no es solo Hispano o africano. De hecho los ORIGINALES del pais, son los Amerindios, en este caso, Tainos.
