For Stradiviarius:

They're a rock band called X-Japan, they have 6 members (including their now dead guitarist hide), the lead singer is called Toshi, and yes he is a real singer, and singing live here.

It's a mix. While Sugizo is absorbing some of hide's parts, some of hide's more famous parts are archive live (not studio) recordings synchronized to the performance (such as is the case with Kurenai's intro here). In a few other cases, hide's parts seem to be pitch-shifted doubles of Pata's track (March 28, 2009 when Pata missed part of the Art of Life intro, what should have been hide's guitar also missed it?)
