While it does'nt contribute to Nintendo's all around success during the NES and SNES era it is definitely a contributor which is most evident in NEC's demise here in the U.S, pretty sad since the Turbo is easily the most underrated console of all time not to mention it's PC Engine counterpart and it's multiple formats/libraries with introduction to CD attachment and then some. Nintendo also had a headstart over NEC.

DKC 3 was way too easy I beat the whole game and found everything in 14 hours total playtime, 1 week real time.

I have all these except Donkey Kong 3 and Super Mario Kart, I gotta get em! It took me forever to beat Zelda and I just beat Yoshi's Island the other day!

@ModelesqueInNature Yes this is my personal favorite zelda. 4 dungeons in the light world and 8 in the dark then an unprecedented blast of a battle with Ganon. They've haven't made a zelda yet that matches or surpasses it's length. 12 full dungeons on one 16 bit cart = one hell of a good time.

@nazanovich57 The Snes version while retaining the blood is a pretty bad game. Nintendo for some reason made it even harder than the arcade. The genesis version beats the pants off of it.

Top ten best selling certainly doesn't equal top ten best SNES games, while the SNES was one the best consoles ever released by Nintendo with one of the best libraries ever conceived, it still takes a back seat to it's predecessor..the Nintendo Entertainment System which is pound for pound the greatest console of all time.

@gamecollect101 That's because nintendo basically had a monopoly on the market at the time so it got all the best games. Companies weren't even allowed to work for the short lived competition if they made games for nintendo.

@Sephiroth1984 Those games were appreciated but not appealing to everyone. They have niche markets. Anyone can pick up super mario, DK or megaman and have fun. You can't judge those types of games by sales figures. The original metroid isn't on the top ten best selling nes list and we all know how epic and awesome that game was neither is castlevania.

Super Metroid may be my favorite game of all time .However it didnt sell well at all in japan, and only did average in america/europe.

It was released against dkc , saturn launch, and ps1 launch . thats why it probly never made this list. remember its top selling games, not best games

The fact that games are widely sold does not mean necessarily that they are good. I'm a huge fan of final fantasy and I have to admit that the XIII sucks despite the fact that it has been amazingly bought in the states, Japan and Europe

I'm playin it right now thats why i searched top 10 snes games to see if it was in any and yours is the only one that even mentions it. BTW Ult. MK 3 was the best on genesis

Yes, the SNES was one of the best consoles ever. Including the honorable mentions I've owned or have played and beaten all of those games. And no Super Metroid or FFVI!? WTF!? Those were my absolute favorite Super Nintendo games! Those were some great times! IMO: MK3 was the last good MK game that came out.

@miniwick05 It turned a lot of people off because it wasn't easy to pick up and play. I love the game but it took me 6 months to finish it. Finding the ice beam was one of the biggest chores I've ever had in a video game. Once you get that though the rest of the items aren't too hard to locate but man getting that probably took me a solid 2 weeks.
