The company filed for bankruptcy in September after receiving $535 million in loan guarantees from the government. Electric car maker Aptera Motors is closing after failing to woo enough investors to bring a new sedan to market. Aptera CEO Paul Wilbur said the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company closed its doors Friday and laid off all 30 of its employees. The company was hoping to get a $150 million loan from the Department of Energy but needed to raise matching funds, Wilbur said.

Thanks Cyber0Bill, this was a typo, I was thinkning 500 deposit. Anyways, I hope they get funding for this company because I like the product. But they really should think about getting the hybrid version out before the all electric if they want to sell this vehicle like hot cakes. For most people, having a small engine incase the batteries go dead is a much more of a comfort to know than always thinkning about being stranded on the side of the road because the juice ran out, thanks.

"4000+ people have already made a deposit of $5k to buy this car." - The deposit is $500, NOT $5,000. The latest release dates put the first cars available in Mid-to-Late-2011.

I really want a 2h, but I'll be honest.... I don't think its going to make it to market. :( They're burning too much cash, the car was originally supposed to be available in 2008, so unless they release the 2e and it sells like crazy, the 2h will never make it out.
