In a race like this, the horse squeezed on the inside is almost always screwed. If Curlin was on the outside he would have won. Look what happened to Secretariat when he lost to Onion - he was also squeezed on the inside. A short time later he killed him at the Marlboro Cup when he had free reign to run. Of course, Sec was also ill at that first race, but would still have won had he been on the outside.

The 2008 Kentucky Derby just happened to be a tradgedy at the end, it was very very sad, and unfortunate, but that is a very very rare injury. I have worked in the racing industry for 4 years now taking care of TB's and been at several tracks, have only witnessed 2 breakdowns and only one was severe enough to have to euthanize the horse. Please don't let one race ruin it for you. I'm not saying race your horses by any means, but like I said its rare.

I own 5 horses all thoroughbreds here are their names and ages, Velvet Panther 3, Going Wild and Crazy 7, See You Later 10, Rockstar Racer 6 , Take The Chance 9! We never race any of them becuz we've seen the 2008 Kentucky Derby and all of them are fillies except for Take The Chance and Going Wild and Crazy and Rockstar Racer those are our only stallions!

Ruffian won every race she went into but she lots only one, her match race. and she died.
But Ruffian is better than Rags To Riches

No. Ruffian won every start she had except for the match race against Foolish Pleasure, where she broke her leg and died. Rags just happened to Win the Belmont Stakes. now if she'd won the KD the PS and the BS all first place, then she'd be a TC winner, but she's not a TC winner, and she's not better than Ruffian.
