Saying that we'd have been in huge trouble were it not for Thatcher because she engaged in the Falklands conflict, rather assumes that no other leader would have done so. Putting aside the merits of our claim to sovereignty over the area, and allowing that, regardless of the strength of our claim, it was necessary that Britain robustly respond to an invasion of territory, the action taken was the only plausible and would have been taken by any govt.

@mrmolez1 You get little over a £120(if over 25 more like 100 if you not) every two weeks to pay rent (yes it lower rate not free) gas electric food etc. anyone on benefits would love a job I recently started calming benefits and franticly trying to find a job again because it a pitiful amount of money they give you. And how anyone can survive long term on them is beyond me yes benefit need a shakeup they need examine the minimum you can survive on again due price increases across the board

Sometimes when I am on night shift, and I am getting home at 6 in the morning, I see some off them crawling home from a night's drinking on a weekday. So I can understand why na lot of people are pissed off. But she did put a lot of honest workers onto the dole. It is better to have the dignity of an honest day's work, thatn to expect others to fund your drink and horse's.

@EnglandIndependence , all things considered, Hitler actually did quite alot for germany, from the autobahn, to hosting the olympics, raising the quality of life quite a few dozen notches, and so on.
The problem is, he did so by method of using scapegoats to focus the public and unite them under a single banner... it's near impossible to get people to work together towards a better future or common goal unless they have someone to hate. Sad, isn't it?

Putting aside the merits of our claim to sovereignty over the area, and allowing that, regardless of the strength of our claim, it was necessary that Britain robustly respond to an invasion of territory, the action taken was the only plausible and would have been taken by any govt.
