My idea of this song is that Kaito (or whichever point of view he is singing from, since it may be a girl's perspective than a guy's perspective) has a "forbidden" relationship with someone. So they can't show how they truely feel for each other unless they are hiding somewhere. Then, Kaito begins to realize that his lover starts to lose their feelings for him, but he continues to be in love with them. In the end, Kaito gets stuck in a one-sided relationship that he doesn't want to let go of. D:

After the families arrive, Kaito ultimately has no choice but to tell them about the relationship. In the end, they begrudgingly accept, and Kaito stays with his lover, who pulls through. Sadly, there's still some looming sadness, because Kaito knows that his lover's illness will only get worse...and he may die young.

But that's just my idea.

@the1Bored Well if you ask me, the story goes like this: Kaito and this girl have been friends since childhood, but Kaito has fallen in love with the girl. The girl doesn't feel the same, but since their friendship is so important to her, she tries to fall in love with Kaito, too. Kaito knows she's faking, but tries not to believe it, which makes both sad and desperate. Of course, the girl could also be a guy, which makes the song a bit sadder IMO. It could also be that the girl cheats on Kaito.

@puppygirle Well, he and Meiko were the first released Vocaloids. They expected Kaito to reach at least 1000 releases, but only reached 500 whereas Meiko got about 3000. So for a while now, Kaito went down and Meiko kept going for a while. However, someone made Miku sing ["Dear You"] asking where he went. Four hours later, someone made a song responding he was out (eating ice cream, which brings in the ice cream item). With Miku's help, he arose back into stardom in the top 10 Vocaloids.

They were kind of right; if you look at how many people bought Kaito & Meiko AND put them together, then you look at how many people bought Miku, there is a huge difference. So they actually discussed deleting him, which would've made me cry. But then, when Miku was introduced along with the others of Vocaloid2, his sales were brought back up, and the creators changed their minds. His being considered a failure is actually the direct reason he appears as the comedy character in multiple PV's, but personality is still decided by fans.

So people then made the 16yr old Meiko. They loved her. Nobody cared about Kaito ne bit. Then Miku and Rin came. When Rin came, they said "We need a guy vocaloid!!" Kaito is a gy an they didn't even seem to recognize that he was there. So they made Len and the other vocaloids. So in a way, he's more of an outsider.
