It's illegal becuase they eat native fish and walk on land during rain to move to a new more populated pond/river. The law really doesn't do anything but makes illegal trading expand. I know alot of people in CA that have them, but I will never report them cause the fish will be killed. Walking Catfish didn't do anything wrong, they just used humans to expand there territory which is a form of migration. For one species to progress, weaker species die out.
@ikachan7777 Not in all states its legal to keep this catfish and electric cats and freshwater stingrays and piranhas and other fish. Tennesses only fish laws are federal and game fish and all game fish can be kept if bought by a fish store :) one good thing only thing is rednecks dont know how to keep such beuatiful fish like this.
