Its the sort of game/genra I can imagine becoming very popular once consumer hardware catchs up.
Have you considered using a wiimote for a controll method btw? With motion plus they have a nice demo of airplane controlls where you hold it as if you would a paper airplane. Should only need a bluetooth and a copy of glovepie to intergrate it I think.
Actually I haven't thought about the wiimote, but it's a good idea and i've already coded for the wiimote in past, so i will definitely add it to the todo list for the future =)
