Begeal & Fields..Judy's business managers and accoutants and bookeepers..they S-! her out of her funds and left her at the mercy of the law and the bill collectors. She was broke and angry and I wouldn't blame her..they took advantage of her..but they didn't get their cumuppance from the law..until long after she was gone.
This is the wonderful and beautiful Judy Garland that I choose to remember. Not her problems. But who she was inside, and who I am sure she dreamt to be. We miss you Judy, and you are loved...
I hate that they try to make her into this sad Cinderella tragic figure when she was not , I'll always remember her as a funny amazing woman/singer not this tragic person when you think about aren't we all at the end of the day tragic and that crap of the rainbow , and getting over it she had her demons we all do lets not exaggerate them. Her children admit she was anything but tragic.
Judy was under the influence during most of these tape recordings and very angry. She had every right to be mad and Since her Father passed away, evil entities came into her life. Judy's own daughters turned their backs on their mother knowing she was in trouble. Poeple like Lorna and Gerald Clarke capitalized on this Great legend's name. Lorna's movie had so many discrepancies.Liza made it on her own and has talent where Lorna only complained about her being the middle child etc.
Jesus! How can anyone listen to Barbara Walters' insanely bad speaking voice/speech!!? She has numerous speech impediments, and mangles every other word! How that broad has a career in television is the world's biggest mystery next to The Lindbergh kidnapping!
Either you are very young or have a case of arrested development. Nothing said on this topic should upset you. A discussion of World War I or the Renaissance or the Egyptian phaoroahs is historical. The topic of Mrs. Gumm is not historical, and it just shows you're not much on reading. There's a total of one book that portrays Mrs. Gumm as a drug procurer, and that is Clarke's. Any adult who knows much about Judy would know this is silly stuff to sell a book. Read more, write less, kiddo.
I have seen many interviews that have not been televised. I have done scholarly research on the psychology of Judy Garland and child stars.Judy Garland didd't have an ordinary life. she was made in2 a product. She was unaware of how to be a natural person, She took drugs, and got them very easily, that is how all of the actors did it, it kept them up so that they were able to do long movies in short times, and put them to sleep so they could get up early.
Pretty dopy stuff, and only those who aren't really familiar with Judy's life would believe it. If you know much about Judy, you know that she tended to, shall we say, embellish a lot, and was not the best source of information about herself. That Old Mrs. Gumm would know how to get amphetamines, much less feed them to Baby, is awfully silly. That she would offer anyone sex, much less anyone would take her up on her offer, is downright laughable. Clarke just wanted to make money, period.
And of course sex was offered, how do you think people become as big as they do? she obviously wasn't getting any from her homosexual husband. it is not just about talent, hunny, it is about men, sex and money. Sad. but true. sorry to shatter your dreams.

I assume, Cherry, you were born in 1987, and I have cufflinks older than you. That said... have you seen pictures of Mrs. Gumm? The notion that she offered herself for sex, or was taken up on the offer, is too silly for words, as is the notion that plump little churchgoer Ethel Gumm was dispensing amphetamines or calling Baby a whore... it takes time to sort out what's true and bogus in life, especially if the internet's in the mix. I'm not saying you're dumb... just that it takes experience.
pardon me, but my age has nothing to do with this conversation. And if you were born in Mrs. Gumms era, then you obviously were brainwashed too. brainwashed into believing that you should judge a book by its cover. do some research. Most people were not aware of the horrors of Hollywood back then. And there are many interviews even on the net that show Judys hatred toward her mother, coming from her own mouth.
I also have experience in theater and small acting, and know for sure, that if you are truly a "church goer" you do not acquire the fame that would have come with being Judy Garland, and as a mother you would not want a child to go through the things that children were made to do in those days. Truly Godly women do not go after fame or fortune, and do not want it for their children. It is a hard and scary thing, run by Men. Men, who are after money and SEX. bottom line...
This is the last time I reply to you because you a religious idiot, aside from lacking experience. All I will say is this, and get a grown-up to explain it to you:
Nobody is saying Hollywood wasn't a hotbed of sin. All I said was that dumpy old Mrs. Gumm was not the kind of woman who could sell herself; the idea is laughable, as is much of the stuff Judy said while under the influence. Unless you grow up and wise up, you will get ripped off, Cherry; not everything everybody says is true.
Fair enough. But let me just say this. You dont know me, and cant even begin to understand me or my religious beliefs in this brief conversation. Also, to call someone whom you think is a child an "idiot" does not seem very "grown up". And while i'm sure that you are probably old as dirt, I'm also sure you have never known these people, so, of course you dont know the exact truth either. With that said, you shouldn't be in such a huff about my words. they're just like yours, OPINION. thanks
it's so interesting to me that her and Michael Jackson's lives are so similar in a hunting way. the start of their lives and the ending it's scarey. sometimes i wonder was fame worth their lives
I'm tired of hearing all the "bad stuff" about Judy. There were so many good memories, talent, achievements, success, and worldwide good experiences, too, I bet.. On another recent post, there's a great interview piece where Judy just is so a regular person, but in a positive sense reflects on herself and her everyday-type-person belief in religion and faith. She wasn't tragic: she was a human being, like we all are always.
@italoman9 I have to agree, I have looked all over, and not once have I found positve comments about her life and career. But we know, you can tell by the look in her eyes, she was happy when she sang. We know that much.
@italoman9 Couldn't agree more. That's just the world we live in, you mess up and your in the headlines as a horrible person or a person who chooses those roads... Which I know not to be true, we are all the same in many ways, and all have problems especially the personal problems that we all face in our lives, the fact is, we are all our own and different in many ways as well, and we each face circumstances, situations, and life from a standpoint far unique from one another.... etc etc etc LIFE
Judy Garland was amazing.
So much talent.
Too bad it all ended like it did.

I bet the abortion she was forced into change her life forever. Still, she was a true star and nothing could take away her talent.

She was a beautiful person, imagine if she had been aborted, the world would not never hear her voice and her beautiful face.
