That PAX dude down there is right - the SC 55 AMG vehicles are all faster than the NA 63 vehicles that replace them. But as an owner of a supercharged AMG, I know MB was trying to move away from the reliability issues the superchargers caused and just go with pure displacement for power. My little C32 (filters, cats cut, no res, ECU, Pulley) will totally snarl my buds V10 M5 whenever he's not looking - but I am a WAY better driver than him too. Nose to nose, that car will destroy mine.

I know this is going to sound like your typical rich kid bragging but it has to do with this video... My dad has a 2003 cl55 amg and my mom has a 2006 m5 and every time i take out my moms car and race the two cars the m5 wins... not by much but it still wins

I agree without a doubt the CL55 is far quicker a CL65 would have had the same problem of the start with smoke due to traction does that mean the M5 is faster than the CL65 as well? Hardly!

No, he wouldn't. A CL65 would, but the 63 is about the same as a 55. The 55 lost in this case due to tons of spin off the line (you can see the smoke at the beginning), while the M5 hooked up. A race is won or lost at the start!!

Pretty severe wheelspin means that he was spinning valuable time away instead of hooking up and going. Which means his 60' time was probably horrible. Which is why he lost. 60' time is everything; in a 1/4 mile run, every 0.1 in 60' you gain gains you 0.2 in time, and each 0.1 second is a carlength.

ive seen sl 55 amg race m5 and not much in it then at higher speeds merc gets it due to huge torque. sl55 same as cl 55. get the cl 63 or cls and m5 gets smashed

You will find that the 6.2 Liter V8 that MB replaced the 5.5 with is actually slower in every model it is placed in.

Yes. Look at the tire smoke from the CL55 at beginning of race; he clearly lost at least 1/2 second from huge wheelspin. A better launch would definitely have made this a better race!

wrong, cl63 and cl55 have similar performance. 63 has more power and 55 has more torque so the two are really close. the race would be the same either way.

actually a cl55 of 2007 has almost 40 more hp than an 03 model. 2003 has 479hp 2005-07 has 518hp and gearing was improved
