  • @theirishtraitor No not realy. Its like theroy and practise. Which is more important? You cant judge it.

  • I just started training in shaolin kung fu and san shou after years of boxing and competing in BJJ and i have to say, these guys are for real.I had no idea about what to expect and knew nothing of forms or chinese arts. All i can say is just give it a try and youll see its awesome!!

  • @theirishtraitor

Oh, and no, I can´t tell my style ( northern shaolin ) is superior, because I don´t know the other styles. But without looking at the experience of a fighter, as we know , martial arts are not sports but art and there are definitely people who are superior at the battlefield, than a boxer.

  • @theirishtraitor

Not the style but the fighter means; the one with more knowledge and experiences is definitely the better one.

As an example, in kickboxing I learned a totally other way to punch than in kung fu. I saw "the knowledge" behind it. I saw, that we use too much energy with less effectiveness. That we move very senseless and losing power by that and even concentration lacks of it. Much more things. So, the style you learn, gives you the knowledge, that´s what I am pointing at.

  • @theirishtraitor

Every strike can be countered, no matter which art of strike ( grappling, punchings etc.) . So, and what I want to tell is, you can be a master in one style, but there is maybe another style, which has more capability of knowledge ( see the sentence before; grappling , punches etc..) that can make you more efficient against the attacks from the another one. BUT now the point " it is not the style, it is the fighter himself" is very important.

  • @theirishtraitor Because one style has much more knowledge , than another one. Like the difference of high school and university. First you try to get the best one and then to be a good fighter in that style.

  • @theirishtraitor bruce lee said that.

  • Awsome

  • alot of u are missing the point. MMA, Sanshou, K1 and other fighting sports are just that. sports! they have a shelf life (35yrs old and ur done). the aim of martial arts is good health, peaceful heart and a long, happy life. All hard training and qi gong are simply tools to help achieve these things. fight to prove ur skill to urself... not for others.

I have been studying with shifu yan lei for over 10yrs at shaolin temple uk. i count myself very lucky to have found such an inspiring teacher!

  • I train in MMA, Muay Thai, and now Shaolin Kung Fu.. all have different pro's and con's, however this guy is the real deal and on another level to most fighters out there today. Sure it would be interesting to see him fight mma or K1.. and then have his opponents fight him in San Shou then we would get a better idea of the different levels of training I think.

  • Great kicks and power.

  • Does he fight in a ring?

  • Hey im paying people real money to sign up and use a free website. Check out my vids if you think im lying

  • the real deal.

it is comforting to see that "real" kung fu and the true spirit of hard work and training is being kept alive.

    much respect to sifu.

  • sifu means master

  • thirs even one on youtube where he smashes his shin through two bamboo canes like the ones in this but with out the cloth. mma fighters dont go as hard core as this they just weight train and jog and practise bjj

  • lmao this guy is 100% more condition then a pro mma fighter have you seen him on the bag type his name in like this

Shifu Yan Lei shaolin temple uk

thirs one of him shadow boxing with kicks hes FUCKING OFF THE CHAIN lol big time search him out go to the video where his got white fist pertections on

  • shame he would get ko'd or submitted within 1 minute by a pro mma fighter tho isnt it..

  • mma sucks

  • the unintelligent people always show thereselves with and MMA comment. hmmm...so easy to spot and fun to point out. if you want to see MMA search those and leave this to people who are interested in it.but realize that without this martial art, MMA wouldnt exist

  • well from your response there i realize you dont train in martial arts...or you do but dont fully grasp its teachings.

i never said MMA fighters would get owned by shaolin or the other way around. you just automatically say the telivised SPORT which tells me you sit on your fat but and watch people fight while you wish you were like them. Alexander the great huh? doubt it.

but honestly there is no need to swear and no need to be rude about it. you "unintelligent cunt" get over yourself

  • There's no evidence whatsoever that Kung Fu is derived from Pankration through the cultural influence of Alexander the Great's conquest of India. Chinese Martial Arts have existed since the Xia Dynasty about 4,000 years ago long before the travels of Alexander the Great. I think your claim that any MMA fighter could beat a Shaolin warrior in 1 minute is farfetched. If he doesn't train in grappling he may get subbed in an MMA fight but his standup and conditioning is on another level.

  • search Tat Moh.

"standup and conditioning is on another level" ??

apart from the fact this guy^^^ is doing pure muay thai in his videos. he and any pure kung fu guy would lose in:

    a kickboxing match

    a wrestling match

    a submissions match

    ....

    and yes an mma match.

what makes you think kung fu is enough??

    look at bruce lees sayings.....

  • I know who Bodhidharma is. He is credited with teaching the Shaolin Monks the internal Martial Arts which are related to yoga not Pankration. He's not doing Muay Thai. I never said that pure Kung Fu was enough to succeed in MMA. I said that his standup and conditioning was on another level (few MMA fighters train in these advanced standup and iron body techniques). Look up Cung Le. His standup is derived from Kung Fu and Tae Kwon Do. He is undefeated in Kickboxing and MMA.

  • good god man, a Shaolin get beaten by a MMA fighter? I'm not going to say one way or another, but those little monks are tough.

  • someone pls arrange a fight between kungfu and mma. if not possible, they are just simply uncomparable. kungfu is a traditional martial art where mma is commercial violence, i dont understand why people should argue about which is better.

  • No way, this guy is better conditioned than a top MMA fighter

  • ur a tool

  • Thank you for your intelligent comment, you have techniques but you have no brains .

  • Comment removed

  • yeah they are the top mma fighters get tired the first 1 2 or 3 lord help them by the time they reach round 5 their dead tired wile shoulin monks train all day n night their conditioned all over in every way no disrespect 2 mma fighters

  • weight training for shaolin specifically

  • what does he think of weight training? is it good or bad for shaolin kung fu? i'm 15 years old about to turn 16, and i'm wondering if lifting weights can make my movements faster. or will it just make me big and slower? thanks!

  • depends how heavy they are and how you lift them. cut a long story short

heavy weight + 1 to 3 reps= make you stronger

moderate heavy weight+ 6 to 12 reps = big muscle gains

fairly light weight+ 20 or more reps= endurance muscle (can last for a long time but isnt big)

I train in thai boxing and I personally have one day a week where I'll only do weights. you need to find what works for you though so I advise doing some research

  • weight training is good for martial arts like judo, muay thai, kickboxing and some styles of karate (like kyokushinkaikan), for kung fu it doesnt really make a difference, u can b built and flexible at the same time, in fact monks sometimes tie a strong rope with a weight use a tree branch as a pivot n start lifting it, strength in shaolin wud help in this sense: if 2 practitioners with the same techniques, same experience face off, the 1 wid muscular strength will have an advantage

  • firstly i train with shifu yan lei and i take offence for people who take the mic or call this fake. Shifu yan lei leads a peacefully life so please only comment on these vids if u have something possitive to say

  • The vids are great, and Shifu Yan Lei is extremely impressive. Very very few people on "youtube" have worthwhile things to say. They aren't serious, and most of them are kids. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

  • I been to the temle in uk very beautiful place a shaolin gong fu student

    from Italy.

    Amitofo

  • THey don't fight with rules....they would probably kill their opponents

  • I find ignorance to be humoring. They don't fight in k1 because they have nothing to prove, they aren't fighting to compete.

  • Amazing

i have the DVD and it's Amazing

  • i love this guys that say that this is fake...

dude of course they dont fight in k-1 this is only spiritual training and if they did they would probably kill theyr opponent so stfu and dont talk about things you dont now...

  • wow that guy is a hardass!!!!

  • ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

  • They don't need to prove anything. It' not about the fighting.

  • omdat het zelfverdediging sport is slimmerd

en hij zou waarschijnlijk de meeste k1 vechters afmaken in mijn mening

  • any one know what that is hes striking?

  • bamboo pole

  • good stuff sifu.

  • support
