The range rover can off road and sounds so much better than the audi, it is also a made far better as it cost a lot more. also the audi is diesel and sounds awful and only revs to 4500 rpm. the range rover stands out as a great all round car that turns heads the audi doesn't partly because it is really boring.

its not all about the engine...its all about what type off gear box ..even u use the big engine but the gear bos=x is made for heavy duty..it is still move slow..

My 3.0 TDI A4 has beaten a V8 X5, and a 3.2 petrol A4 round a track and in a drag race.

AND it does 44 mpg. Cant argue with that?

@2007DBR9 of course a 3.0 TDI with a skilled driver will beat a 3.2 A4 (almost similar specs) round the track and on the drag 1/4 mile - why? Because the diesel has more torque when it comes to accelerate out of corners and low RPM which zeros out the advantage of the petrol car in terms of displacement and power.. plus the comparison with the X5 V8 was nonesense... you cant compare a SUV to a mid-sized sedan. keep it real, okay?

@beavisPDBSK Keep it real? I think you will find that if you look at the figures you can compare a V8 X5 to an A4 as far as performance goes. The BMW has 402 bhp compared to the Audi's 240, and the 443 lb-ft compared to the Audi's 369 lb-ft. Given the weight and serodynamic differences, it seems like a pretty interesting match in a straight line to me?

@beavisPDBSK Wrong! a high revving 3.2 petrol should, by all rights, beat a 3.0 diesel. audi just make immense diesels that break these rules. your argument on torque is flawed, torque will help you overtake on the motorway, but not accelerate out of a corner on the track
