Imagine how terrible it would be if that pancreas were less efficient or, worse yet, non existent. Thank God price controls have allowed the existence and functionality of that belt. Oh wait, the people that made it just want to get rich and exploit people based on their pre-existing condition. Government has a genuine concern for our health and they will produce the machine out of the kindness of their own heart (riiiiiiighht....)
check your facts before breaking out the Straw Man Internet Sarcasm. health insurance companies do not manufacture the device. a public option would have nothing to do with medtronic (for example) making an insulin pump. a government plan, like private health insurance if you're lucky enough to get it before diagnosis, helps at the stage of purchasing the device initially, for thousands of dollars, as well as the massive quantity of supplies and insulin needed to maintain its operation.
My little brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 8. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February. I'm 18 and in college, so I'm still covered under my parent's health insurance, but one day I'll have to get my own health insurance and this will be a pre-existing condition - something I worry about all the time. Thank you so much for this video.
Bullshit. If there were 45 million people in the US with their pancreas on their belt, statistically I'd have to know a good 100 of them. I don't know one. This is about communism, plain and simple.
No one gives a shit who you know! The statistic was related to the uninsured population in the U.S. not the diabetic population you idiot. Next time take a moment to use half a brain cell and don't talk out your ass like a fool.
not .. I get that feeling GOP libetarians are pushing / why pay / survival of the fit .. like 11 of 20 .. I'm for helping all living human beings in Utopia .. but reminded of litter of kittens .. momma will push out the disabled into heaven quick
Again with this whole "random quote" thing? Come on dude, I know you were picked on a kid by a democrat, or some other asinine reason, but get over it, move on, and get sensible.
So, you're gonna get your pancreas paid for, but in Robert Reich's words: "We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drugs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going for another couple of months. It's too expensive...so we're going to let you die."
ObamasLipsAreMoving how about you try for just one day giving yourself a shot before each meal along with a finger stick. or how about you shoot a needle in your stomach so you can connect yourself to your life-support. how about you try to imagine what its like for a child to have to take the responsibility to do those things daily and on top of that participate in normal daily activities... maybe after you do all those you can talk smack on us.
Better yet, ObamasLipsAreMovinghow about you try for just one day taking out the stick you have so lovingly planted in your ass. Then maybe you can get that foot out of your mouth.

riiiiiiighht.... government never subsidizes research
riiiiiiighht.... insurance companies never cut people off
riiiiiiighht.... insurance companies take anyone with a pre-existing condition
riiiiiiighht.... you've thought about it.
riiiiiiighht.... anyone who is concerned has a bleeding heart
riiiiiiighht.... As if you'd be retiring with medical benefits without the intervention of government
So how's it feel to be a bitch for corporations that wanna kill your grandma?

# As many as 3 million Americans may have type 1 diabetes.
# Each year more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S. That's 40 children per day.
The 45 million statistic is referring to the number of uninsured Americans.
