It's not God that's not allowed in public, God is already in public etc. It's the crooked, divisionist, hateful and racist-(religion) that shouldn't be allowed in public. Religionism Christian or Muslim is a Doomsday cult, threatening civilization and futures child. The Crusades, The Inquisition, Jim Jones, David Koresh. The rape, enslavement and murder of the new world and Africa by religionists. I do however feel Religion should be taught in school, if the TRUTH is taught about it.
I am a Christian, but the last thing I would want to do would be to use the power of public institutions to impose my views on others. I Christianity is really as powerful a belief system as I believe it is, then it will endure no matter which govt is in power.
Seriuosly, God is not a "him" or her. God is in everythingas God is everything. They are not keeping GOD out of schools, they are keeping religion out, which is a good thing. All religion seperates people, and proclaims that it possess the right path to GOD, which is rediculous. The consequence of this arrogant thinking manifests itself in WAR, Nationalism and conflict among humans. Religion is one mans vision of God forced on everybody else, usaully by brainwashing children.
Much of the problem is that we have an entire generation who have been brought up under cultural Marxism and do not know what freedom from it is like. Which of course was the aim of Marxists. However, as experience in the old Iron Curtain countries shows, the yearning for freedom is not suppressed by political ideologies and it tends to break the surface of human consciousness in the end, as long as there is still an example of free life in existance to measure against.
Can you cite the Constitution in regard to this? The only thing that it says is that Congress shall make NO (N-O) law "respecting an establishment of religion" or that prohibit the "free exercise of religion". NO law. Congress is not to restrict religion. Period.
Separation of church and state appears no where in Constitution. And some of the first acts of the very first Congress(those who wrote and ratified Constitution where around) was to print Bibles, appoint a chaplain, pray, ets.
How is this related to your original claim that the U.S constitution separates church and state? Do you retract this claim in light of what frankreally has to say, or are you going to raise a counter statement?
It looks like you've raised a completely different constitutional issue without first refuting the counterclaim or retracting your own claim.
God is not a religion! The Constitution states government will not promote, support or endorse one specific religion above another. Talking or teaching about god is not a violation of the constitution. You should take another look at it and stop regergitating all that you hear.
What a bunch of crap. Nowhere in our demoralized Constitution does it state a "separation of church and state." And I encourage people to look into the ACLU and they will be shocked at the original founders (admitted communists). The ACLU is the most dangerous organization in this country, and must be stopped.
The American public has been conditioned to hate the word "communist", so that slapping that label on any group automatically makes it a tool of Satan, but it ain't necessarily so. The primary work of the ACLU is to make the federal government uphold the Constitution. The ugliest forms of tyranny happen when the church and the state climb into bed together and claim to be doing "God's work."
No, Roger Baldwin, who founded the ACLU, stated explicitely "Communism is the goal." Many original board members (and no doubt a few today) were admitted communists. Unlike liberals, I don't throw words around unless they mean something. The ugliest form of tyranny is when unelected judges dictate when and where students can pray. For 150 years we had school prayer. Now we don't. Look at the results. I rest my case. The primary work of the ACLU is dismantling everything this country.
The founders of our country disdained the christian god. As a matter of fact President Washington fell asleep so much in church, got chastised for it . . . he never went back. Learn your history. And if Socialism helps, then so be it. The great thing about The United States is that we are adaptable and amenable. It's is the fascists who want "things to remain the same."
I agree but I would add that the feminists are just as dangerous. If you have not done so, I would urge you also to read about the Frankfurt School and their massive impact upon the western world in helping to create the Marxist cultural revolution we are seeing today. It is the same here in Britian with Marxist influences trying to destroy the Church, the family and all of other the things that keep our society glued together. We need a new revolution on the right.
I believe a revolution is coming. I just pray that it's a peaceful one. You may want to check out my upcoming book, "Among Men" from RoseDog Press. I talk a lot about this very issue--how removing God from society has devastated society. It is geared more toward our problems here in America, but I'm sure Europeans would find it interesting--especially those of you who remain loyal to the values that built powerful nations.
I agree with you about the revolution. It must be a revolution of ideas. The right has to own its past errors before that can happen though. Unless we know our mistakes we are likely to repeat them. I will look out for your book. Thanks.
LOVE Zell Miller. He is so correct. We cannot take God out of schools (and our lives)and expect to have a decent and productive society. GOD bless America! Thanks. Take care:)
Yet in Europe more than 50% of the population are professed atheists, in Sweden even 80%, and they have less violence, a longer, healthier lifespan, lower incidences of child mortality, and a higher standard of living than the U.S. Now I know you won't believe that & that's fine. As a U.S. citizen who left the States 22 years ago, I know it to be factual. I'll enjoy my life here with civilized people while the U.S. travels down the road to a cultural dark age.
rhabdoviridae: Yet nowadays you can find statistics to back any position you might want to take, depending upon who the statitician is and what their bias. So glad you are enjoying your life. You are right I disagree, but we are both allowed our opinions. I'm sure you and all of Europe will rejoice if your "world citizen" is selected and we head down the path of BECOMING Europe. I am an American. I love America as America has always been. I wish you well. GOD bless America!
There is no evidence of a corollary relationship between levels of religiosity and social development. Proof of this lies in the fact that several nations with a high level of religiosity display similar levels of social development as those with low levels of religiosity. Examples include Spain, Austria, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Israel.
rhabdoviridae, you obviously need to do your homework. 79.6% of the Swedish population are members or attend the Church of Sweden. That is down a few points from the separation of church and state in 2000. They are a civilized nation of little over 7 million. Of course they have little crime!
etommy33, I tried to find the underpinnings of your statement & found no statistic to back it up. According to the European Christian Mission: 85% of Swedes claim a link to the Lutheran Church, while only 5 - 7% attend at least once a month. I think you misinterpreted your data. Furthermore, according to Phil Zuckerman, as of 2005 85% of Swedes are either agnostic or atheist.
The crime reference is a percentile designator independent of actual population.
Well that indoctrination your talking about is what made this the greatest nation on the planet and greatest in the history of the World! Maybe God's indoctrination which encourages individual responsibilities and creates strong individual's is more viable than group thinking and communism that destroys the soul and kills the desire of personal advancement!

why as a jew do i need to be taught about the christian religion in school? that's ridiculous.

Christians and Jews believe in the same God. What is your issue?

The US constitution makes the separation of Church and State
the Law.
God has no place in the schools.
The ACLU simply seeks to hold the government
to the law it is obliged to obey.
Without the ACLU it would probably be illegal
to be a non-Christian American.
And that, folks, would be truly unAmerican.

And when a school puts on a Christian Christmas play
or a federal workplace erects a Nativity scene
the non-christians who attend the school or work there
are deprived of THEIR right to exercise their religion
or their lack of religion.
Christians tend to say "That's absurd, it's just decoration,
let them get on with their school or work
and if they don't like the decorations they can ignore them."
But just let the school try to put on an Islamic play and listen to the howls...
