@Edam241 Dick Lester stated in 1994 that he dropped this performance of YCDT because he didn't wish to create an endless string of Beatle performances. This performance was included on the soundtrack album, but Dick Lester felt it was one too many for the film. A director may film more footage than he/she requires, but balance, pacing and a critical eye are essential when deciding what is to be kept or left in the editing room. You can't use everything.
Great song! This is probably one of my favorite songs from 64 that they do. Great vocals with Lennon doing the lead and Macca and George handling the backing vocals like the early days. Plus, you get a song with Lennon doing the solo which is kind of rare. They don't show it probably because John was very insecure about his playing but a great song that didn't get alot of attention as a "classic" Beatle song.

Just learned John performs the solo on this. Goes to show you that the boy could play just about anything on his guitar. :) What saddens me, tho, is that they didn't use this for the HDN film, & also opted not to use John's "I'll Cry Instead", preferring Paul's livelier, "Can't Buy Me Love". I'm sure John felt upset & insecure about it. :( This just illustrates how different John & Paul's personalities & songwriting was; one wrote edgier, more cynical songs; the other, more positive & upbeat.
it is true, this song was never in the movie, but it was on Soundtrack, that was a drag, there gonna let you down & leave you flat, OHHHH, they can't do that!
They song wasn't in the movie because the producers didn't want it because it's "too harsh" which i kind of agree with it's like Run For Your Life I mean he's talking about beating the girl if she cheats on him.
PaperbackWriter9- Would he really beat her? He doesn't believe in killing. It sounds like he's saying he'll just leave her. "So please listen to me if you wanna stay mine" doesn't sound all that violent...
Ringo Starr is awesome! He is my favorite Beatle. I grew up with him on Shining Time Station as a kid. It sure is weird to see those girls crying over them. Kind of reminiscent of today's girls and the Jonas Brothers, though in my opinion, the Beatles will always blow them out of the water...
@danielchance I love ringo too, maybe the fav beatle, not sure ^^ Love them all :D Have u seen him live? I've seen him live, he looked me in my eyes, omg <3<3 HAHA
This clip was shown on the Ed Sullivan show before the movie came out.

One of my favourite Beatle tunes -- great solo by John in the break -- Dick Lester should have left this in the finished film

Beating??? I think the line is "I'd rather see you dead."
My how times have changed. If someone did that today every man hating lesbian on the planet would want his balls.
