A lot of games are being given an HD remake. I think this game should be given the same treatment - comic-book HD graphical upgrade, much improved animations, improve the aesthetics of each level, add a couple more levels, give it an interactive comic-book gameplay mechanic,...the works. I remember this game doing something (towards the end) that I've not seen any other game do. For anyone who's played this game, knows what I'm talking about.

Sometimes they do a little lipservice to the game but mostly it was two jokers in front of a camera makin' a video game review show. That was hilarious! I'm terrified of The Lush now. Being hit w/ an empty beer bottle hurts anyways, but add in mutant strength to the throw, and it must be certain doom. And yes, out of the 200+ games I played on Genesis THIS was the most pain in the ass. WTF was up with that bomb on the final level? Shit was way too difficult for a kid.

The SNES sound chip was certainly something to be lauded, but it didn't mean the Genesis was lousy. It's what one does with the technology that counts.

The Shinobi games are an excellent example, as is Streets of Rage. I can still remember so many tunes from the Sonic series as well.

I wouldn't say it was the only good system. Certainly their most successful and enduring, to be sure. Dreamcast was a solid system with texture work that's still amazing. Saturn had its good qualities too...

But after the Genesis, Sega's timing was just off. 32X, complicated Saturn, DC just before the impending arrival of the PS2 behemoth... Maybe they were too confident, too bold. The aggression that made them challenge Nintendo and saw them achieve success might have been their undoing.

Maybe, but it seemed to me that Sega had their eyes firmly on Sony rather than Nintendo who were still two years away from an actual product. It's now a part of gaming lore that Sega changed the Saturn's specs when they discovered what the Playstation was capable of. Then they tried to one up Sony by releasing the Saturn much earlier.
