  • omg..i didnt know this Mr jon..so lovely.. :) i want to hear on live..i may cry..

  • Wow you are a great musician Jon! Well anyway I saw a car advertising your website and that led me here to hear you play. You've got yourself another subscriber!

  • @GloriaHoliday Well, Well - I'm glad you caught sight of my piano-limo! it's great fun to drive - if you search my videos for a CBS Television inter view, you'll see the car being driven. Thanks for your appreciative critique - please tell everyone you know! Jon

  • Hi Jon, Enjoy your style and especially love the brilliant sound of that white upright piano. What kind is it? Is it an "old" upright restored or new? Do you take it with you when you perform as Liberace did with his particular pianos? Thanx. Just great music played to perfection. JIM

  • @932stretch 'Glad you like the sound of that 'special' piano. The case is an original vintage upright 'grand' (a large, classic upright). However, the great sound comes from the fact that it's a Yamaha digital keyboard in place of the original keyboard. I set the 'voice' to a slightly honky-tonk sound (for this piece and some others) to emulate the jazzy 'honky-tonk' pianos of that era. I do take it with me if the occasion warrants! Jon

  • Thanks for the memory of Eddy and of course of Carmen Cavallaro the poet. I have just discovered you today because I´m doing a researching about light music in UK from Wally Stott, Clive Richardson, Robert Farnon up to John Wilson and David Charles Abell. I¨m 25 years old but I´m in love with Cavallaro¨s style. I also knew about Gil Carli in Brazil and now I have the pleasure to meet you and your style playing the arrangements of Carmen and you do it excellent. Thank you very much

  • @YessicaRose86 Thanks for your detailed feedback and appreciation. I'm glad you like my music, and all the oher 'light' music out there. Jon

  • Thanks for your reaction, indeed Carmen is hard to beat, checked Gil he performs also great. A lot of people don't like the way Eddy "changed"to play Chopin but it is so wonderfull, specially as you also give it a free interpretation. Though Carmen is special (music played on funeral of my granny )

    I'll keep checking ytube

    free

  • wonderfull, searching the net for eddy duchin and found your tribute great. I was 3 years when i heard this music first in '56 and loved it trhough the years. Lp was broken but lucky we have the net known. Your interpretations are, again, wonderfull and will be added to the library.

    greetings from holland

    pieter

  • @08puffel Thank you kindly for your generous and detailed appreciation. I must say that I have recently discovered Gil Carili - DO look him up on YouTube - he performs note-for-note interpretations of Carmen Cavallaro classics - as you know, Eddy Duchin could not play like Carmen... his are true works of genius.. Best wishes in Holland - it's great to know that love for this kind of music is still alive! Jon.

  • on appele ca un grand artiste du piano super grand

  • WOW! You see I'm not a piano player but I alway admire piano player, especially a great one like yourself. I've never seen anyone played Cavallaro like you do, Impressive!!!!

    Regards from Australia,

    Robby

  • @suaragitar Thank you for your appreciation Robby - I would recommend that you look at Gil Carli (also here on YT) if you're a Cavallaro fan. I've never heard anything quite as precise! regards and best wishes, Jon England

  • They play good, but they never tell you how to be that good.

  • Wonderful! What a deft touch. Beautiful tribute with even a hint of Liberace's style.

  • Thank you very much - 'greatly appreciate your enjoyment of the music!

  • Jon, your tribute does justice to these two greats, Duchin and Cavallaro. I wish Mr. Cavallaro's music was more available. His touch was so much sweeter than that of Mr. Liberace. It was less predictable and less obtrusive. You truly capture the musical spirit of that bygone era and you are right that you stylized it in a way that is true to its original form. It is a real pleasure to listen to. I wish my piano teacher would have introduced me to his music while he was still alive.

  • I too am a devotee of Carmen Cavallaro's understated brilliance. A true master of the style. I'm honored to be even vaguely considered among his followers and emulators. thank you pianoplaylist - your own collection of piano music videos is remarkable and greatly enjoyable....long may they continue to grow, and please viewers.

  • Lovely, I can't stop listening to it., Ken (England)

  • 'Glad you like it Ken - you can get my CD album(s) which have this Eddy Duchin Story Medley from Bridport Music 01308 425707 they also have the full length movie-musical from which this clip is taken! Jon

  • Breathtaking, Thanks, (Ken from England)

  • Bravo! A five star! Thank you for the wonderful tribute to Eddy Duchin and Carmen Cavellero and their beautiful music! I have been a fan of them both ever since I saw the movie at the theater fifty some years ago ... I purchased the soundtrack and it didn't take long before it was worn out!

  • @dukesgal39 my mom said that as a teenager in the 1940s, practicing piano, her goal was to sound just like ___ who was on the radio those days... had sort of a flamboyant or sparkly sound... I've often wondered who that mystery pianist was, but I suspect it was CC! I "discovered" him myself lately on Bing Crosby "I can't begin to tell you." This is a beautiful tribute, thanks so much! very gorgeous sound!

  • @cefinow Thank you so much for your very interesting response - may I also recommend you check out the Italian Gentleman Gil Carli (on YT) who is a pure Cavallaro recitalist working from original Cavallaro scores - It's spooky to listen to him as he is note-perfect in the style and presentation...!

  • @JonEngland thanks for the hint about Carli. But your tribute is really really nice. I recall sitting down at the piano with the CD of Bing Crosby with Cavallaro accompanying, and trying to replicate that kind of sparkly sound and getting absolutely nowhere! so I am very impressed to find out on your website that you play by ear! best wishes

  • @cefinow Well thank you indeed! I have erred in my description of Gil Carli being Italian - Ooops! He is Brazillian - do check him out - he's even closer to the original Cavallaro sound than I can get. This may be a contentious thing to say but I feel even Liberace "learned" some things from the Cavallaro style! What genius they both had. J
