its funny how these people never cite data before 1975, because it doesn't fit their agenda. the national bureau of economic research showed that in 1912 the top 1% owned 56% of the nation's wealth, today they own 34%. we need a sense of proportion, we have always had massive wealth and income inequality and it has never hurt economic growth. the arguments that these statistics fuel are ones based on jealousy and envy. i dont have what you do, and therefore im going to take it. its very sad.
Medical care is so expensive because of government spending. The wealth gap is irrelevant when measuring peoples overall standard of living. Liberals use "the gap" to show you how much richer others are than yourself so you can be envious and vote for socialist policies that put them in power.
We have a high 'work ethic' inequality in the USA. People who are working there asses off, are getting paid, and they are getting health care. The whole point of America was so that HARD WORKING PEOPLE COULD FINALLY GET AHEAD! Breaking free of the socialist politics that holds so many people down.
The statistics are not wrong. And you shouldn't point to that, because in your argument blacks are lazy and hence, should have lower standards of living. The statistics then are not wrong, but the analysis maybe. The rich are not lazy, they work hard, and poor are lazy, they do not work, so inequality is a good thing.
So tell me what the diffence is between being fed and housed and forced to work versus being given the "choice" to work, get paid and told to go out and try to find food and housing. Sounds like another choice, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock but if you don't let me in I'll burn your house down with you in it."
For a history of corporations, labor suppression, and political corruption I recommend this book: The Age of Betrayal: The Triumph of Money in America, 1865-1900 by Jack Beatty.
That's because the same type of take-over is happening today that threatened the US in President Roosevelt's time. Thank goodness we had Smedley D. Butler to save us, then.
