  • @Happym3 I hear yah buddy! I never trust Propecia and as I tried the hair loss treatment suggested at the site HairLoss101. net (remove the space). Never seen such good results in such a small amount of time. Im pretty eager to know the results on your wife, so keep us updated!.:)

  • what an inspirational video!

  • Wow. I feel the exact same way. You're BEAUTIFUL (:

  • Love this video! Almost made me tear up! :) lol...I went natural and back to relaxers twice, I am now almost one year into being natural again. I appreciate and Love my hair so much more this time around! So true about the media, and how we need to love ourselves for who we are naturally! We lost our culture in slavery, so you are right...our hair is our closest connection to our ancestors! Thanks for sharing!

  • Love the video and thanx for sharing. Peace

  • I absolutely loved this video... Ive been natural for about 3 years and I actually cut my hair in 2006 then let it grow out and then went back to relaxers... Then I deiced to go back natural in 2008. But you are beautiful girl natural or relaxed.. Its so true that we are victims to the media... The media tells us what is beautiful and natural kinky hair is not looked at as beautiful to most people!!! But I think were getting there... We gotta keep being BOLD and standing out for what we believe!

  • One of the best natural hair videos out there on You Tube. You said everything I feel and have felt very honestly, candidly, and that's what's up! Thank you sister for sharing your experience....for it is the plight of some many of us!

  • Thank you so much for sharing, so of us african women need to see or hear others perspective...and I CAN sooo relate;-).

  • Girl, you are absolutely GORGEOUS!

  • whats the song at the begining of this video?

  • You and your sister are sooo beautiful! This is one of the best natural hair videos I've ever seen!

  • absolutely beautiful.

  • Best Hair Journey Ever! How are you doing know, we need a update!

  • My 10mos old daughter and I were watching this video and she was dancing to every song (which I loved), and ur video It just touched me I loved the way u hit the streets and asked REAL women. There Is a story behind every curl or relaxed end I think we never know ne1'sfull story. I want my daughter to know that she Is beautiful and she should love herself 4 who she Is and what she thinks not wut her hair Is like. She Is my insparaton 4 going natural, and perms started 2 damage my hair.

  • After watching this video i feel more confident in my natural beauty! i hated my hair so i would sraighten it Daily, and its killing my hair! As much as people say my hair looks good and they thought i had a little bit of white in me I dont you have helped me realize that it is time to stop hurting my hair because all im doing is hurting what i want and that is to have longer more natural hair! I was becoming addicted and now i Know that i must stop before it is too late! so thank you so much!!

  • HEY SOROR!!!! loved the video!

  • GOD U R GORGEOUS YOU LOOK KINDA LIKE "LAUREN LONDON !! N UR HAIRS BEAUTIFUL. .X P

  • It's weird how different the black culture is different in Canada and in America. I'm Canadian and less than half of the black girls I know have ever had a perm/relaxer. Maybe it's because the majority of black people in America are African American, and most of the black people in Canada are Jamaican, I don't know.

  • I watched this video when i was going natural for the first time by choice and I thought this video was so intellectual and amazing and now in march the begining of my third year natural I still feel this video is amazing and well put together you remind me that we do have something to say and its time to remind each other and those after us that we are a beautiful and dynamic people. Much love to you all the way from South Carolina! God bless!

  • There is a level of sophistication you brought to this topic that I haven't seen on YouTube before. Good job

  • What kind of people would dislike this...

Here you are pouring your feelings out to us in hopes of encouraging other women to embrace who they are without altering/damaging themselves physically.... I just don't understand what could possibly be offensive or not-likeable about this.

Anyway you have an awesome, engaging personality and this video was extremely well put-together. I'm sure you've inspired more people than you know or at least planted the seed of the idea of being Natural.

  • Comment removed

  • i accept my hair but my mom doesn't so i have to perm my hair and it burn so much my whole head has scape

  • you are such an inspiration to all the girls like me out there who want to embrace their natural hair . thank you for this !

  • BLACK GIRLS ROCK.!

  • I love this video good job!

  • Hey im part of the illuminati too :D!!

  • So glad you took that weave out and are wearing your beautiful coiled hair. In my opinion weaves, relaxers,etc... are forms of self hatred. More and more often, hair loss is the result (permanent baldness in small or large surfaces of the hair); traction alopecia/"self mutilation"...just my opinion. Sister's think their hair is "easier to manage" with the beginning stages of hair loss. They don't realize they are losing their hair until it becomes unsightly. So glad you removed the weave.

  • This video is very well planed out. I congratulate you for transitioning. Im natural too and find it sometimes hard, my aunt and my father don't like it, and give me a hard time about it, but like you said we shouldn't be insecure about our natural hair textures. I saw it as a journey too. I have been getting relaxers since i was a little child, then in my pre-teens a perm. I stopped perming and my natural hair texture showed and i loved it, especially when its wet its like cotton. Im 4a/4b

  • Awesome Video! Giving you a standing ovation....

  • OMG great video!!! you need to come back and do another one =D

  • Yay! Congrats on the continued Success of you're documentary cuz!!!! Its good for people to upload videos on styling and products but the real journey is so much more than a lot of what we see IN videos and blogs that showcase the maintenance. A lot of people are still tryin to get to a certain point of the internal journey that goes a long with it and you're work here always offers that side of support and technique! :O)

  • THANK YOU for helping me to love me NATURALLY! :-)

  • It takes alot of courage to walk around with a big chop for awhile, well worth it in the end

  • Thumbs up if you believe being natural is beautiful =]

  • Soror!!!! Excellent Vid!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!

  • one of the best youtube vids on natural hair I've ever seen . . . kudos make some more!!!!!!

  • You are an inspiration, young sister. Keep it up. God never does a thing thats wrong, and you're story is inspiring to us all. Your honesty is so beautiful. GOD bless you & your sister on your natural journeys. I am transitioning too, and I'm gonna do my big chop in September. Be blessed, and remember, all good things come in time. Amen.

    Much love,

    Ebbie

  • 2 words....heart felt!!!! amazing video!

  • WELL DONE, my dear!

  • Fufualmani You Are Pretty, pretty eyes you're intelligent. I enjoyed your video and my first time watching. It sounds like you have a singing voice. I'm thinking about going Natural. The lady that you were interviewing was right about when exercising and having a perm.. I sweat alot in my head I can say its harder to keep up.. On the other hand being natural you will not have to worry about that..

  • Hi I just watched your video and I hope you make another one soon. I'm going through my transtion and I found your video to be very inspiring.

  • Awesome video. Very well made.

  • This is the best and I mean the best natural hair video I have seen. I have been natural since October 11,2009 and I felt the same way but I love it.. Thank you so much for this video... And yes it may be old but I just found it LOL...

  • Great video! I went natural over a year ago and I'm so happy. It can take a while to be confident about it coz it's a big change in your image.

  • it 5 months for me now i feel the same way u did .. my hubby love he play in my hair sometime... he always say im cute it make me happy when we together.. but when im not wit him i dnt feel like myself and it still hard for me to take it all in..... in nt gng back im stay natural...

  • Beautifully SAID!!!!!

  • Thanks a million for your inspiration!

  • omg ii luvVv diiz viideo...and yuh lukK great wiit natural hiir....

yuh should doO sum more viideoz...

  • feel good about your hair dont worry about what people say or think about it its about you and not them i tell ya ive been thinkin about going natural for the past 5 yrs i just recent cut it short still with perm but now your vid makes me say to my self im going to go on and cut the rest off and start new i really want this for myself. and you ROCK THAT your beutiful! and thx for sharing

  • at a loss for words. enjoyed your video TREMENDIOUSLY!!!!

  • You are absolutely beautiful...and so is your hair! I feel ya! Although, I was the opposite. I've always loved natural hair on others but didn't know how to take care of my own because my hair is extremely thick and it grows pretty fast I have always been challenged with how to care for it and manage it. I found it to difficult in the past; but, this is my third and final journey and I've finally found a community of sista's that can help me with that journey.

  • Im IN LOVE with your video <3

  • This was really something special. I think the India Arie song should say "I am NOT my hair, but we're both beautiful" or something of the like to really instill into natural women's minds that natural hair is "good hair" and that they should embrace their hair and defy the stereotypes against it.

  • This was beautiful, and all the sistas in this video were beautiful. Thank you so much for this documentary. I'm currently wearing my hair natural, and I think it is something that sistas should at least try and explore. It is so important to get to know and appreciate your natural self and rid yourself of all the fakeness. After all, how can you love yourself fully if you're constantly hiding what makes you you!

  • Thank you soo much for this...

i was planing to perm for grad..

    buh now. NO!

i've been natural since grade 4

nd my hair is nice nd long thanks to my hotcomb and treating my hair...

    I applaud you

  • AMazing video,it was more like a documentary,,,ima favorite dis

  • U r very beautiful ..... and your video was so honest and inspirational!!!

  • i love your video very touching i respect the fact u are natural and not trying to be like who they say we should look like .I myself decided to go natural also ,and yes its very hard but if we all stick together on this journal we will be ok!

  • I see you SPEC! lol

  • @TrueJimmy HEY!!!!! ; )

  • Im from Brooklyn & although u can walk down n e street and see so many varieties of hair I think there r still A LOT of woman here that have negative views & stereotypes on natural hair. Being natural has a lot to do with the person not really what city u live in because we all c the same "straight hair" commercials and such. I find that being natural first has to be imbeded in your mind before u actually do it or else u will have feelings of insecurities as u did. but GREAT video!! I enjoyed it

  • Good vid. The hair thing is so much grief.

  • What a great vid. I just BC's this pas weekend becuz I was tired of dealing with two different textures, it had been 7 months since my last perm. I have to admit it has knocked my confidence down, plus no one has commented on it eecept my mother. It does hurt to know that I don't have the support of my friends and family, but watching your video has given me a little boost of confidence. Thanx again.

  • I wish chris rock would made a documentary like this instead of his Good Hair movie. No desrespect to his film but still when I saw Good Hair, all that came to be was when his daughter ask how come she doesn't have good hair, he really didn't took it to another level with his answer. It's was all relaxers, weaves, were it came from, reaction from Hollywood, the end. No where did he explain about natural hair or the history of natural hair. I prefer this doc instead. Five stars love!*****

  • @NappturalDancer2K10 I agree with you, I felt the same way after watching his movie. I understand that he was being humorus but I wish he had been more serious and actually explored the subject. (good post!)

  • I applaud you for taking the time to make this video. It really is amazing. I have been in the transition phase of my natural process for over a year now (Since Aug 08). I really started to feel the heat of the whole thing so I relaxed it in April 09, messing up nearly a yr of work. I've since started over. My struggle is not in fighting the urge to relax because that urge doesn't exist anymore. I just can't bring myself to chop off the relaxer... any advice? THANKS!

  • THIS is what Youtube is about. Quintessentially! Love this short doumentary.

  • By watching your vid I now see how foolish I was trying to transition for so long. I'm suppose to embrace who I am naturally. Why do I want to hold on to these ugly permed ends? I don't want them anymore and they are keeping farther away from my dreams.

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow I'm so happy I was able to share this with you!! Enjoy your natural journey!

  • all i have to say is WOW...I've been looking through alot of "natural" videos in the past 3 months while I've been transitioning and I must say you have the best inspiration video by far....seriously.

At first I planned to BC after 10 months just to retain length, then I got impatient and dropped it down to 6 months, and now I'm planning on BCing tomorrow at just 3 months.

  • Im happy that I was able to share with you...enjoy the natural you!

  • This video was AWESOME!!! =) loved it! I did my BC in September.. i love my natural hair =) .. your hair is beautiful! even when it was short! I can't wait till mines grows out so i can do more styles! gonna post this video on my twitter for all the natural hair ladies. thanks so much!

  • great vid

  • i love this video, thank you ffor sharing :)

  • just watched ur vid !! aahhh i loved it ! ... what u said in it is very true relaxed hair is accepted more easily it makes me sad that our natural hair is not accepted as widely especially in the work place. thanks for the comment on my vid im gna follow thru with my decision.. not sure weather to get dreds and grow it enuf then cut it so its a small fro, wat dya think ?

  • Very good video...I really enjoyed your street beat and the comments from the natural females. Im currently 14 weeks post relaxer and this is my second time around. The last time was two years ago and i did the big chop...This time around i dont know about the big chop. Theres one thing i know is that i will not use the CREAMY CRACK anymore.

  • Doll you're beautiful!

  • I'm Scared To Get My Ends Trim But I Found A Way To Manage My Hair' I Just Stop Perming It This December Will Make A Year So Now I Just Get Full Weaves And Braids So That My Natural Hair Is All Braided Up And Protected. My Mom Still Thinks I Should Get My Hair Cut But Im Refusing I That

  • love this. I too was feeling just like you. I wasn't ready to do the big chop for fear of what was beautiful to people. I also continued to flat iron my short hair. I stuck through it and I love my hair now. no flat irons for me. I was lucky enough to be in Atlanta where there are so many natural heads that was able to admire. Times are changing and I see so many young women transitioning. They are loving themselves and it's a great think to witness. Happy growing~

  • beautiful Queen...

  • I really enjoyed this video. I have a slight obsession with natural hair journey videos and I felt you gave a realistic view of what it's like. I've been natural since the age of 9 (having a big chop in grade 3 is not cute LOL) and I felt how u did. I appreciate your honesty.

  • This is the BEST natural hair journey on youtube! that woman's dreads are GORGEOUS!my best friend is growing her perm out and getting locks as well. :]

  • @LiLxMiSsxHaRleY Thanks!

  • what kind of hair was that in 5:29 that you were taking out it was pretty

  • @fromkellytowilliams synthetic curl..I'm not sure of the exacts

  • I wanted to go natural a long time ago, but I waited until I was 31 because I spent so much time worrying about what people would say. Truth is...looking like everyone else is easy, it takes more courage to stand out. Hang in there, your hair is gorgeous!

  • my daughter name is esther I am soo proud of your journey. it took ame a long time to figure it out myself because society placed the burden of playing catch up. I burend all my hair out trying to keep up

  • Great Video. I think that you are a inspiration for many viewers that are or thinking about going natural. I have been natural for 2yrs now, and love it. I do however wear a lot of protective styles do to the fact that I have a very hectic schedule. Good luck and God Bless

  • This was really well-made, and I think you're absolutely gorgeous..

  • I love your video. It is a shame how kids these days would think that white is prettier than black. I took my 6 yr old niece out 1 day 2 buy her a doll. I picked up this beautiful black 1 and she told me she didn't want it because it was ugly. I asked her why she thought it was ugly n she said cause it's black. That just broke my heart. So I asked her " are you ugly?" n she said "no". So I said "why not? U're black". She just looked at me n didn't say anything. I did sit her down 2 n talk her.

  • @portauprincess101 wow! its very common and not talked about or seen as an issue

  • you are stunning and so is your hair, even when not very long

  • @DolceVita Thanks!

  • I'm a white man and I have an inferiority complex. I got if from my father verbally abusing me all my life. Everybody has feelings of inferiority in some way or another.

  • i really like ur video!!!!!! i been natural for 2 in da half month in a lot of ppl tell me y u dont where a wig r tracks!!!!! but i dont pay no mind to dem!!!! i have been reading a gr8 book, about natural hair. da book is call "HAIR STORY UNTANGLING THE ROOTS OF BLACK HAIR IN AMERICA"!!!!! ITS A REAL GOOD BOOK I LEARNIN A LOT ABOUT BLACK HAIR!!!!!!!! NATURAL IN UNNATURAL

  • oooohwee!!! love love love love love this video!! I can relate to you on so many points that you brought up... I'm so proud and happy that you decided that going natural was right for you. Like you said we are all different but to be natural I believe brings out the most beautiful you... God made us in his vision of perfection yah know! Your vid was kinda like those short films they show on BET... you could really do something w/ documentaries :) Proud of yah... and your beautiful!!!!!!!!

  • where are ya?

  • I can relate to your story, the beginning is always dificult. maybe because I wanted my closed ones to tell me that I did something good. but as the months passed I started to learn that its all about me. very nice video. thank you for sharing

  • This is a beautiful vid. I love how you put it together and have other peoples opinions in there. Yor hair is beautiful! Gotta add this to my favs.

  • Awesome I have been natural for 6 yrs and still struggle. This video is old but your hair is beautiful and so are you. Be encourage and God Bless you

  • What an amazing, inspiring video! I didn't want it to end. :). You are really beautiful and I am now even more sure about my decision to go natural. I have been transitioning for 5 months and I think I'm almost ready.

    Thank you:)

Props on the video once again

  • You really made me want to cut my hair.i never got a perm or relaxer. I mess up my hair by straightening it because people wanted it like that. People always ask me why i never perm or relax my hair this girl told me she feels like black people should perm their hair i felt that when she said it she made herself sound so dumb. Im not my hair i used to think that i was but i have more going for me then that. so im going to cut it even and not straighten it.

  • I think you are a beatiful natural woman. Thanks for the video. I am in transition and in my 3rd month. My reason is just because my hair stopped growing and I am tired of relaxers. Thanks for showing the deeper reasons for transitioning.

  • Omg im so happy for you. It takes people years to learn what true beauty is. I love your hair!

  • i love this video!!!!!

  • Wow. Great video. You & your hair are so beautiful. Continue to be blessed in your journey.

  • this video is amazing...

you brought tears to my eyes because I everything you felt I felt when I started going natural. You are a true inspiration and you hair is beautiful.

  • this video is amazing.

    breath taking.

like the style and flow of the story is by far real documentary material and you could take it further.

    *fans herself*

    hahah thanks for this.

  • This has got to be one of the best hair journey videos hands down!

  • Beautiful video girl! I have been transitioning for only about 2 months and this inspired me to stay with it. Thanks! :)

  • beautiful viide0! <3

  • I sent your video to my list. Love it. You are truly beautiful.

  • This video is amazing! It's great to see women talking about their natural hair this way, the good and the bad. You're beautiful and your hair is beautiful. I've been transitioning for 9 months now and am soo excited about my journey.

  • I love this.Very creative how you went about your story and journey. 5 months transitioning! :)

  • Your hair is very beautiful and I love the video. I am currently transitioning to natural hair (7 months this Thursday) and I am excited about going natural but I know there will be some fears along the way. I am so glad there are so many beautiful women on you tube posting about their experiences with transitioning to natural hair and hairstyles. This really helps out current and future transitioners. The song in the background is beautiful too.

  • this is an amazing video! You are very inspirational. Thank you.

  • ur soo pretty my hair is thick but i have a little bit of edges

  • massage ur edges daily with something like ORS Temple Balm ORS= Organic Root Stimulator. One of the ladies on a hair forum that I frequent said it worked to grow her edges back. :)

  • i love this video.. i hope i look like you with my big chop

  • u should and can u make more videos.. on lyk wat products u use.. nd how u do ur twist outs nd quick weaves, bcuz i am here to say that i bet alot of use would watch ur videos

  • This video is very encouraging! Thank you for making it.

  • I am trying to transition now... but I do have courser hair. Do you think that its a bad idea to go natural if I have course hair... I have had some ppl tell me that it maybe a bad idea. What do you think?

  • Everyone has there own curl pattern and hair texture...I would encourage you to love your self naturally. All hair is beautiful....you just have to know how to syle your hair ...and what products to use

  • Wonderful video!! I am currently transitioning and this video was inspiring! Thanks! Love your hair by the way.

  • This was a fantastic video! I am already natural and you have inspired me! Inspired me to do what I don't know, lol! But I am inspired! Thank you

  • This video is amazing! Thank you for adding sucha real perspective to the discourse on black women and natural hair! I am going into month 6 of my transition... this video was inspiring!

  • Hello Soror, I am in my eighth month of transitioning and I am deeply considering the BC..this video gave me so much inspiration to go ahead a get "closer to my dreams"- that being 100% natural! Thanks so much for sharing your journey. You and your hair are beautiful!!!! I enjoyed your video and your personal story- truly encouraging!

  • Fantastic documentary! I think that little Black girls (and boys) should watch this. In fact everyone should watch it so that they understand why so many of us straightened our hair and why many of us were afraid to go natural. It was really a breath of fresh air and it validates how a lot of us feel. Great work and I love the directors hair and smile!

  • How inspiring. I had been deciding whether or not to go natural. First I started with not wearing weave anymore. And that has been good so far. My sister went all natural some time last year and it has gone very good for her. But I have still been getting perms. My hair is growing out but its also thin. I beleive that I will decide going natural. Lol and you are one of my major inspirations on that point. Thank you.

    Be Blessed.

  • I never had "anxiety"about my natural hair.On a 1 to 10 scale it was a 4. I accepted it. I feel special, esp in a place where I'm the only natural. I have heard some IGNORANT comments by some and all it did was make me feel sorry for them. The women who said something negative about it, I asked them what was under the perm. The men who said something negative, who were natural THEMSELVES, I had to educate them. but I have gotten positive comments to, that's life. Take the good with the bad.

  • Girl you better learn how to rock that TWA. You look fierce with it and you are so beautiful.

I think dimples and TWAs are a perfect pair.

You have to be CONFIDENT with that style, and i know you have it.

Honestly, I'm not even there yet, but I will be in about 2 and a half months and my hair is going to be SUPER DUPER short.

    But I'm gonna rock it!

  • its a struggle

  • This is a wonderful natural hair video and I have to agree with eveyone else this is the best I have seen yet! I feel like I know you, I'm so proud of you. I know that sounds weird but I love to see my fellow black sisters so happy with who they are naturally. I understand all the feelings you expressed I went through the same thing. Going natural is truely a journey and for me it was a huge difference but it was the best choice I ever made. I'm just so glad you made this video! God Bless!!

  • WoooooW I LOVE this video. This has to be the best Natural Hair Journey video that I have ever seen. From the bottom of my heart I am truly grateful to you for making such a wonderful and thoughtful video. I have never seen any thing like this. From start to finish it was amazing. Great Job

  • thank you so much for this video you dont know what it means to me:)

  • This is by far the BEST natural journey video I have seen!!! you are so inspirational, so strong in spirit!!!!

  • Wow!!! I loved your video, its such an inspiration to me, and brings me back to the reason why I decided to go natural:-) Thanks... O and your hair is LOVELY!

  • O my goodness! I appreciate your honesty so much!

  • the best natural vid on youtube!!!

i fully understand every single aspect of this vid. i understand now that once you get over the idea of how people will accept you and to fully accept yourself, the notion of being uncomfortable will disappear. you're beautiful and so is your hair. it'll take time to get over some of the hurdles that come with being natural but you will inevitably get over it. Luv and Peace.

  • gurl what a great video i gotta step my game up to you level lol

  • This was a spectacular video, you are very beautiful and You did a great job of portraying NATURALITY and the journey in its purest form..REALNESS...Thanks for sharing..Bless, Queen..xo~

  • amen amen and amen again..u r a inspiration to us all

  • i luv luv luv ur vid

  • you are beautiful!

  • Wow girly you are sooooo gorgeous!!!! This video was awesome.....outlined what we natural women are learning throughout our journeys. While also enlightening those who haven't begun.

  • you look nice natural you are a pretty girl

  • Thanks for this video! I went natural last year but never wear it curly. Tomorrow will be first time I wear it natural to work and I was a bit apprehensive until I watched your video. Just like you I begged my mom for a relaxer at a young age. I didn't need it and I'm glad I'm natural before having my own little girl someday. Thanks again!

  • esther, i cant begin to express how your video made my motivation to continue my transition. my last relaxer was feb 17th. thank you so much for your reassuring words.

  • This has to be one of the most beautiful and heart-felt videos on YouTube. I can relate in so many ways. Even though I'm about to transition from locs back to just my natural hair, Ive allowed my hair length to become a security blanket and its time for a change.

    Thanks for being so candid.

  • Oh my gosh! You're gorgeous! And your skin looks so pretty! You're is awesome too! :D

  • Great video Sis God bless you

  • Thank you

  • i love this video: i would luv to say I AM NOT MY HAIR, but I AM! I am natural, i want to be natural and i enjoy being natural but it is a really difficult step. It is, i wont lie...it is all mental and internal... ie. people still treat me well even better than with a perm...but the mind, MY MIND, my mentality. I kind of have to tell my self to move on every morning :).... not to sound downing but i applaud everyone out there taking steps :)
