Haven't heard this in at least 20 years - Thanks for posting. Just got the word that Clarence passed away last night (June 18, 2011) and so I immediately thought of his great vocal line in this rare classic. RIP Big Man - you're already missed greatly !
Thank you so much for uploading this! It gives me goosebumps. So good. I live in the Houston area & remember when KLOL was a rock & roll station. The good old days.
I can't tell you how much I love your Bruce selection...I still get goosebumbs listening to all of it. where the hell do you get this stuff! I makes me feel 16 all over again...Thank you Msbrucejuice.
I heard this originally on the Houston radio broadcast! I was only 14, but it is still one of my favorites. I didn't get to hear it again until the late 90s. Thanks for posting this.
@MsBrucejuice Well I imagine Bruce could have said he hated it but he just meant he was dissatisfied to some degree. Is there any CD of his that you don't like much? Also, I remembering hearing the best version of this song (not that this isn't great) and wondering why it didn't become a smash. I've seen him in stage in person and he really delivers like few others.
i miss the original version with E Street. That version might be top 5 of all Bruce.
Others, imo, Atlantic City, Hungry Heart, Out in the Street , Glory Days, Tunnel of Love . The worst album by Bruce before 1987 is Born to Run .. so overproduced and Bruce hated the record too and had to be convinced ,after spending so much time and money, to release it. Catchy but you want to put it down down down.
Dude I heard this song for the first time when I was 17, and according to the legend Bruce is not very fond of this song. May have not been true or maybe it changed now but man, this song is one of the few I never get sick of years on. He totally owned this song :) Thanks!
I didn't turn on to Bruce until the Music Hall show in September of '75 but this is great to hear. KLOL was "the" rock station in Houston for decades! Remember Crash?
Wow...I remember KLOL during my adoloscence in Houston, too & it was a great radio station. I remember hearing this recording & falling head over heels for Bruce's music. Thanks so much for posting. Good to hear some 35 years later. sounds like generationboom & I are about the same age & from the same are. Small world!
I remember laying in my bed listening to this radio show on KLOL. It was a great radio station back then. For years I wondered if there was a copy of this show floating around, and thanks to the internet, 35 years later, here it is! Thank you for posting this treasure!
