  • bleed your fish out first, its not only more humane, but you get much less blood in the meat

  • Pike are a very tasty fish, but the bones deter a lot of people. Thanks for posting this!!

  • so is this the best method to get the most meat?

  • Man are people chewing and eating so fast that a little bone is that much of a hazard to them? sheesh folks remember to breathe while you eat.

  • GO CHOKE ON A HUGE BLACK COCK. SPREAD YOUR ASS AND TAKE IT LIKE A MAN

  • Thanks for posting this vid, helped me out alot!!!

  • you get less bones if you use the 5 cut. it takes a bit more time but its worth it

  • 0:25 nice save. good thing he didnt start floppin around half way through the first cut. that was a little fast. i think you should describe how to kill it

0:07 i often hear 'best eatin fish', but im not clear as to exactly what this means. does it mean best taste, smooth, rich, non fishy flavor, easy prep, easy cleaning/gutting/scaling/, good fighter/satisfaction ratio, all of the above, etc?

i love your style of presentation. i look forward to seeing a smallmouth bass tutorial from you. thx

  • @crazydriver1978 "best eatin fish" pretty much means all of what you said. Each fish is a little different, but for the most part walleye, bass, white bass are all the same. Catfish can be done several different ways. I prefer to completely go around the ribs, over time cutting through ribs will dull and wear out the knife faster. Another way to kill them is to put them into water with ice, or just a large container with ice. It usually stuns them and kills them.

  • Great vid, thanks for the info, I love pike meat and I want to try that. For anyone who is concerned about killing the fish completely, I would say cut off the head right after the meat is cut off.

  • Alright, the first thing we gotta do is kill the northern... "Smack"!!! Fucking priceless!!! LMFAO!!!

  • Great vid, thanks.

  • a very good video but i found an easier way where you get more fillets and you dont have to remove any bones. cause there is none

  • Ur pretty skilled with that knife sir

  • Fantastic Video!!! Thanks so much for the expert advice! Going fishing with my 5 year old boy and plan to show him your technique. Love that yo have the camera close enough to see what you are doing in detail! Thanks again!

  • The man knows how to do it, really nice video!...Not like these other noob YouTube videos where they have a lot of wastes!

  • Nice video man !! this video really help me !!!

  • its good eating, the meat is really nice , thanks.

  • I love northern Pike but I haven t gotten a chance to head up to Lake Simcoe yet but My bud and his friend went up a week ago and caught 4 nice 10 pounders and brought them to me to fillet and thanks to your vid I was able to clean them in 10 mins and they were pan fried right there

  • forgot the bones on the other side

  • @MrJuice18 2 fillets 2 rib sides to cut. what on earth are you talking about?

  • @cory1337 theres a small set of bones on the bottom of the y bones on the tail part unless your northern r different but i doubt it check out my vid it shows you.ty

  • You gotta love the squishy sounds they make when you squeeze them haha. I'm slowly becoming better at filleting these beasts, up here in Northern Alberta lol

  • @GrantChampionTV "Beast" that they are up by you!!!..Keep the knife sharp and your fingers away.

  • hey man stunning the fish and filleting it live is pretty fn cruel. kill teh fuckr first.

  • @exotime ...Tell you what...Stay with your girly tea party and leave this stuff to a man

  • @DERAILERMAN yo shut the fuck up

  • @DERAILERMAN Fuck yeah!!! Tell em man!!! I've filleted fish alive b4... it's only a fish n they are food!!! Fuckin girly, tree-huggin sissies!!! I wouldn't trust a man that couldn't bring himself to kill an animal!!!

  • @DERAILERMAN I agree with you, one of the main objectives of fishing and eating them is to keep them alive and not allowing any rotting or spoiling. This exotime is a hippy obviously and cant handle some simple stuff.

  • @exotime It's called muscle reflex - you can run a knife on fresh meat and it will twitch like that... man learn a little anatomy or something

  • @Kilogram24 hey man, ive cut up enough fish to know what im talking about. my fish dont flop when im gutting them. and if anything its called a spinal reflex .

  • @exotime I think it was dead by the end of the first cut. If not that, the second did it.

  • @exotime go visit a slaughter house fool

  • thanks man! seen about 15 videos and this is the best one, keeps it simple and fast... and saves all the good eatable stuff !

  • yea st. croix... i live in the town where they make em

  • Very helpful. I think I may try it this way next time. The head whack was awesome!

  • Very helpful. I may try it this way next. The head whack was awesome

  • lol fantastic

  • LOL epic intro

  • good demo

  • Thanks for the Video.

  • but why would you want to....

  • Good method, though you haven't removed the small line of bones towards the tail of the pike, just below the lateral line, that almost nobody seems to even be aware of. I cut a larger section with the Y bones out, then flip the Y bone section over and cut out the boneless flesh on the other side of it. It works well for me.

  • LOL I have probably contributed to at least a hundred or more of the views just for that first part.

  • There are 13 more bones near the dorsal fin that you did not get.

  • I feel like such a dick after laughing at the pike getting whacked on the head. Even the biggest animal lover can think that was funny.

  • That is probably the best method I have seen. Nice vid and thanks. Next time try to get a bigger one if possible (jokes)

  • Best video I have seen on this subject. Thanks

  • Great demonstration video on cleaning a northern.

  • Good video, Thanks

  • Thanks man! Your Walleye fillet video is much appreciated!

  • is that in catchmore cottages in cambelleford ontario?

  • Very helpful demonstration. Thanks!

  • Got a couple nice fish I've got to get to this morning. Last nights haul was a 29 northern and a 19 walleye. Current have them on ice, minus their heads and guts of course. Thanks for the informative video!

  • this is a great vid, great help when it comes to pike for me... thanks, nicely done.

  • i enjoyed this one haha fast and clean, first thing you gotta do is kill the northern haha whack

  • this guy is like the bob villa of fishing

  • first thing you gotta do...WACK!! kill the northern LMAO!!!

  • right on, kinda prefer the fillet knife over an electric, but keep making these vids great job

  • He is my twin brother!

  • Maybe you should make sure the fish is dead next time, before you start slicing it. Makes me feel kind a bad to watch wriggle, while you slice it in halfs... Hmmm, maybe that's just me... Nice trick though!

  • siggelsmun, i agree... well its better than him being alive

  • dude when he was cutin it it was twithing he didnt kill it he wanted it to suffar lol good job always make it suffar

  • much better than your walleye vid, except i don't agree with an electric knife ;) but the whack made up for it.

still, you should work on the walleye a bit more ;)

  • feckin eh done the canadian way....WHOMP...zing zing! slice slice....crackle crackle fer 1 - 1.5 minutes a side and wallah fresss served fisss!

  • i am his nefew

  • sweet!

  • Lol, im stil laughing at the "First thing you do *flop flop*....*sigh*...is kill the northern *Whack!"

  • @Derek42008 ya i know seriously i don't see anybody else do shit like that these days

  • @Derek42008 isnt it too funny

  • I have never been able to get those y-bones out. Thanks for the helpful vid.

  • Northern can be so big, and you catch so many of them, that's the reason for an electric knife on this species. Keep up the fishing videos!

  • A fork huh? Never thought of using a fork.

First thing we gotta do is kill the Northern... WHOP!!! LOL!

  • electric knife huh, you're either lazy or catch lots of fish lol i am guessing its the latter. good videos

  • very nice, i have seen many butchers destroy

pike in the fish shacks .best video on here.

  • will do err one more time. haha i love this guy.

  • nice vid man

  • I've avoided eating this fish for too long because of those bones. Thanks for that video!!

  • I love your accent

  • Thanks i have been pulling them out with pliers!

  • I fish for and filet Pike all the time in the Eau Claire WI area. Your video is great!

  • Good video, Do you ever clean trout? Id like to see that video.

  • Very well done! It's nice to see a video of someone cleaning a fish who actually knows what they are doing! Keep up the good work!

  • Hey I live in Biloxi,Mississippi and ive never caught a pike or Walleye or Muskie.I go salt water fishin down at the coast for big game fish not the pidley stuff witch i would like to try to fish for, but i heard those are cold water fish and everything down here is hot Christmas Day was 73 degrees crazy.

  • Great lakes fish are not pidley! ill put my walleye and perch up against fish you got, in a taste test.

  • hi jason, if you kill the pike (throat cut or whatever) just after catching it, you would do me a personal favour ;-) other than that, great vid.

  • God damn you sound like your from the northern states. Like how you "kill" the fish too.

  • seems hard. does this work with all fish or just with pike?

  • Yeah pickerel (NOT WALLEYE!!) pike and muskies are all similar.

  • Great How-To! Perfect for www.viewdo.com, check it out.

  • thanks for the post, great video

  • Great Video I catch Chain Picekerel and they are similar
