  • @bobeileen1 : better check out Google translations. The post isn't a compliment.

  • Whats candle cove? Is it a song for a Calliope?

  • @KimmyRose12 I know this as Sidewalks of New York. Not familiur with candle cove.

  • @KimmyRose12 Candle Cove is a children's puppet show famous for the constant presence of calliope music and also for being notoriously creepy. :)

  • I am a big Fan of Jesus

  • I'm very glad to hear you are a big fan of Jesus! The Bible says He is coming back (we don't know when) to fix all problems in this world. This could be in our life time. I received Jesus as my Savior in 1958. bobh

  • @bobeileen1

    He's not.

  • It sounds so lovely :) I wish we could here more music like this these days, it's so spirit lifting~!

  • Sure glad you enjoyed this. Yes, it was a simpler time back then. We need Jesus to come and make all things right! Take care. bobh

  • I WANT ONE SOOOO BAD!!! but i can't build worth crap LOL

  • You have many years in front of you. This may become possible down the road. But the only really important thing down here is to know Jesus as our savior! I received Jesus as my savior in 1958 when I was 18. You probably know this Scripture: John 3:16. TAKE CARE!! I look forward to meeting you one day! bobh

  • i love that music! :9

  • @pikimikiisliketobi I'm happy that you enjoyed this! bobh

  • @bobeileen1 yaaaaaaay! I LOVE It ...It makes my heart happy :D

  • Reminds me of a turn-of-the 20th century circus : )

  • @velvetsnape Yes, when the circus came to town they had a parade with a steam calliope to advertise the event. The calliope could be heard two miles away!

  • never used this anything I ever composed, though it's listed in one of my soundbanks, but will have to incorporate this instrument in a future song

  • so this is the instrument they use to make carousel music. they should nickname this the "carousel instrument" cause that's what's it's most known for. And for being used in children's shows like Sesame Street.

  • @OscarEES there's only one

  • For the benefit of mr kite.......

  • @dancerox994 yeah, yeah, yeah!!

  • I LOVE this video!

  • @zubrycky I truly appreciate your thoughts! Thank you. bobh

  • Reminds me a bit of the introductory theme from Candle Cove...

  • @orwellianson Several folks have told me the same thing.

  • @bobeileen1 Aye.... Marvelous playing btw. Truly mesmerizing bit of sound.

  • Needs more calliope

  • @McRabbid9 exactly

  • CANDLE COVE?

  • @valzilla2000 I know this as "Sidewalks Of NewYork"

  • Comment removed

  • @bobeileen1 Its a kinda urban legean

  • That reminds me of the airship theme in FF 9

  • Is there any way you could make samples? Like, audio record yourself holding down each note? It's really hard to find Calliope samples for some reason.

  • @DevineInnovations That may be slightly above my pay grade! I don't think samples work for me. Thanks for asking.

  • candlecove man...

  • Candle Cove.

  • @c1ameron Perhaps that is another name for the song. Here we call it Sidewalks Of New York.

  • @bobeileen1 Candle Cove is a story from the internet about an old creepy kids tv show. According to the descriptions, the soundtrack was done on a Calliope

  • @c1ameron Too much Creepy Pasta, Eh?

  • Thanks for listening.

  • cool!

  • this is great! how did you make this?

  • @avivaben Hello! Glad you like calliope. It is made from plans found in Popular Mechanics Magazine dated December 1982. It is a fine project. John 3:16. bobh

  • That would make awesome game music.

  • *.* quiero uno

  • Cool!!! John 3:16

  • It's sad that there are some raggedy, drug ridden projects in New Orleans that's named after this beautiful music.

  • We wait for Jesus to return and make all things right. We must be patient a while longer and pray (John 3:16). bobh

  • Yaaaaaaaaaay! Merry-go-round music! :3

  • That is really awesome.

  • @OverlordJake Really glad you enjoyed it!

  • You made this calliope? Are calliopes difficult to make?

  • They are not hard to make but do require a good deal of patience. I spent two years building mine! Thanks for writing. Jesus is coming.

  • @bobeileen1 Do you know where I can buy one like yours?

  • This calliope is not manufactured. It has to be made with Popular Mechanics instructions found in December 1982 edition. Maybe you could take this on as a project sometime! (John3:16). bobh

  • @bobeileen1 As soon as I find some time, I may build one :) It is a fascinating instrument, I must say!

  • Thank you ngutngut40

  • @Ukrazianation You are welcome

  • That was delightful! An adorable little calliope and a great old song. Thank you!

  • @LuckyMojoCurioCo REALLY HAPPY YOU ENJOYED THIS!!! Jesus is coming soon! John 3:16 bobh

  • amazing, just stumbled on this . . . love it!

  • @surrealistorg Thanks!!! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • @bobeileen1

It takes a special kind of crazy to love calliopes, so I commend you.

  • @surrealistorg Now you know who I am. I fly R/C airplanes too!

  • My mind is blown.

  • @JalapenoJr MINE TOO! After hearing your version of Greensleeves.

  • @bobeileen1 Haha thanks! But it isn't my arrangement, the arrangement was actually done by someone else... I'm just playing it :P. Thanks anyway, I'm glad when people look at my channel and stuff.

  • That is awesome! So small, but so neat.

  • Oh my god...It's so CUTE!!!! It gave me chills and it plays so well! Neat as hell <3<3<3

  • @VKatze Really really glad you like this VK! My mental abberation is OCD. I guess we all have stuff to deal with. bobh

  • Thanks for posting that. I'm George Campbell, and I designed that project and wrote the article in Popular Mechanics. You did a great job of building it.

  • Thanks so much for posting that. I'm George Campbell, and I designed that project and wrote the article in Popular Mechanics. You did a great job with it. I'm so excited. I haven't heard one play for years.

  • Too Cool! I'm George Campbell, and I designed that project and wrote that article in Popular Mechanics. Thanks so much for posting this video. I haven't heard that project played in many years. Bravo! It's an excellent one you've turned out.

  • @GARCKY Thanks George, Great hearing from you again after 25 years. I'm 70 years old now! I began working on project at age 42. Took two years to make. Sure glad you found my page on YouTube. This computer stuff is amazing. George, you are a genius!! Don't know how you ever came up with this invention. BobH

  • i keep thinking that your playing that one song that goes

"Daisy daisy give me your answer do."

  • like the stationary engine to the right

  • @CGiordano464 Thanks! That was a fun project. Double ocillating, double acting engine. BobH

  • I want one of those

  • YOU HAVE. TO GO. INSIDE.

  • @dark7element TO GRIND YOUR SKIN

  • This is cool... How many keys?

  • @LNERMallard Not nearly enough!! 15 white and 10 black keys. Two octave range. I'm constantly runing out of notes but still it is fun.

  • @bobeileen1 Only 25 keys? O.O They usually have 32 or 44! Well I suppose since its homemade, you might not have as many whistles. Still, nice calliope!

  • @LNERMallard Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Oh lord this is scary if you've read the story about Candle Cove

  • @DumbKunt1 I just looked at a few Youtube videos about Candle Cove. I heard the carnival organ. This program appears to be Satanic. Another good reason Jesus came to Earth to save us all from our sinful natures. John3:16. bobh

  • @bobeileen1 Yeah, the candle cove thing. It's just a story, its doesn't actually exist.

But it is a pretty scary story. And the videos on youtube about candle cove, are just fake. They're using youtube to scare people.

  • @DumbKunt1 Thanks for the info! Didn't know anything about it.

  • BUT YOU HAVE. TO GO. INSIDE!!

  • @BunnaySango Excuse me?

  • Terrific! And a very nice shot - loved the toy in the foreground.

  • @thewomandirector Really glad you enjoyed this---and the little toy too!

I sure enjoyed hearing you play "Daisy Daisy Give Me Your Answer Do". So cool-so Awesome !!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :D :D

  • calliope musicians get all the chicks

  • DAMN SKIPPY THEY DO!

  • HOW CUTE ¡¡¡

  • Wonderful! It sounds beautifully!

  • For plans: Google. Click on Books. Search: "Popular Mechanics December 1982". Page 102.

  • Thanks, Bob, for playing it for us. To everyone else... The Popular Mechanics Mag where Bob got his plans from is now online.

  • thats the coolest thing ever ! Ima find that magazine and make one too

  • This is too cool! Would love to have one!

  • You are welcome. The one thing in life I know best is the Gospel of John 3:16.

  • it's alright

  • It must be OK then. (^^)

  • Great stuff!

  • This was a most enjoyable project--1982 to 1984. bobH

  • bellissimo.....ciao da Genova Italia

  • Makes me feel very good. Thank you.

  • EPIC!

  • Now that makes me feel really good! Thanks.

  • how hard was tis to make, because to but one is about 9 grand, and our church organ broke...I need something to use, and this sounded amazing

  • It took me about 2 years to build. Lots of small parts to make. Maybe a Yamaha keyboard would be the answer. Glad you enjoyed the song.

  • wow i would love to make one of these!

  • The plans for building this colliope are in the December 1982 edition of Popular Mechanics Magazine. BobH

  • can you give me the link for the article?

  • There is no link for the article itself. Go to Popular Mechanics Website and search for Dec. 1982 edition. I believe they can sell you a copy. BobH

  • the calliope is so cool... it reminds me of something long gone yet still familliare...

  • I've heard storys about the circus coming to town many years ago with a parade to announce its arrival. A steam calliope was often used. It could be heard a mile away! BobH

  • I know by the way you play the paino you are very intelligent. Keep on playing!!! Jesus Savior Pilot Me. Glad you like calliope. BobH

  • MERAVIGLIOSO !

  • That must be like MARVELOUS! Thank you very much. I listened to your profound music and viewed your pipe organ shop. I have never seen a shop this grand! You must have been taught by organ builders of old. BobH

  • this is my favorite instrument. It's so unique.

  • Thanks. Yes, the calliope has it's own voice. There is no mistaking it.

  • This is so lovely. <3 Having grown up in a town on the Mississippi, the calliope is basically one of the sounds of my childhood. Steamboats ROCK, and this is such a cool project! Mega props. I might have to build one myself. ;p

  • I would love to take a steam boat ride some day and play steam colliape on top deck. Glad you like my project. Took about two years to make. BobH

  • You crafted that??? AMAZING! That was quite a project! It turned out great.

  • Sure glad you like the calliope! Took about 2 years to build from article in Dec. 1982 Popular Mechanics. Bob

  • wow then you must have had very little time to build it then. because it says it takes 40hours.

  • I'm not sure where 40 hours came from. It actually took me about two years of spare time to build calliope. The hymn on your home page is beautiful!

  • I collect Band Organ music, and I swear I have this song in my collection.

Since I don't really want to look through 200+ songs, do you have the name?

    It's damned familiar.

  • I believe the correct name for this song is SIDEWALKS OF NEW YORK. Hope this helps! It's a good ol' song. Bob
