Russian in 1971, the first launch to Mars, planetary probes. He sat down on the Martian surface and died within a few seconds. Anyway, he was the first on Mars. Russian as well, the first to launch an automatic station on the planet Venus.
First human in space-russian,furst human on orbit-russian,first rocket was made in russia, first creature in space-russian dog, first conquerors of Antarctica-russian Mariners, first Jet aircraft made in Russia, first TV made in Russia.first Radio made in Russia! What made you Yankees?
He is a true hero of the Russian space program. Actually all astronauts and cosmonauts are heros. But I especially admire the ones in the very earliest space flights. Nicely done Alexy!
IF Korolyev had not been killed by the incompetent, arrogant head of surgery, IF the N1 Moon Rocket program had succeeded, Alexey Leonov would have set foot on the Moon... perhaps before Armstrong. That's a lot of IFs, but the Soviet Space Program was glorious.
Leonov says: "At the launch...at the launch, that's what Sergey Pavlovich told me: "Don't rush, report everything" and wished me a nice solar wind.. Pascha went up after me. Sergey Pavlovich talked to him about something for quite a while. The rumors are, that he said something like: "If something's wrong, eject Leonov and return to Earth" It's all bullshit of some idiots! He just said: "Watch Alexey. After all, you've got the console with his breathing, pressure and all the parameters..."
Actually, General Leonov was the first human to have physical contact with space. During his first excursion from the spacecraft, he had to evacuate the air from his spacesuite in order to fit back through the capsule's airlock. To do this, he punctured a hole in his suite to let the air out. Thus, he was the first earth-human to make physical contact with space. This is a well-settled, undisputed fact.
He did not "puncture" his suit - he needed it for the rest of the flight, remember. Even he says he "lowered the pressure" through a valve designed for
