The difference between this and now is that, regardless if the Wrestling is scripted, they took huge amounts of pride in their work and were genuinely talented in what they did Hence the huge Movie roles Rock and Stone Cold now have

BEST promo for a championship match ever. The Rock stunnering Austin is classic stuff. You'll are right today's generation doesn't match the attitude era. Except for the promo between Orton and The Game at WMXXV. Their intensity is a solid throwback to The Rock and Stone Cold. Attitude Era 4LIFE!
The best part of this promo is how strong they both looked. Going into Wrestlemania 17 it was 55/45 for Stone Cold, but still anything could have happened. Not like thse days where 90% of the time you know Cena is going to win.
For my money, its either this, the HHH/HBK promo from Summerslam 02, or the Undertaker/HBK promo from Raw this past year (the Running Up That Hill one)

This was wrestling...I was a teenager at the attitude era and literally couldnt wait for it to come on friday nights, its got no passion anymore...austin, rock, foley noone today can compete. Orton is the only reason to watch atm and hes just a PG carbon copy of Austin....take away the PG rating and maybe we can get back to something worth watching....plus JR on commentary makes most of the best moments more significant,

The thing I liked about this match was the fact the 2 years prior when Austin and Rock met for the 1st time, Austin was the bigger star and Rock was just getting there and was a level below him, now 2 years after at WM17, both wrestlers were at the same level of stardom and the match needed to happen again!!!!
These two man were the pillars of the company plain and simple, no rivalry has such chemistry anymore, at least we can always go back and remember the good stuff, too bad It wasn't used as a foundation to make something much better.

HHH is limited to being a comedian most of the time (which doesn't suit him anymore), Undertaker needs a heel turn, Kane needs his mask back, Sheamus is fine imo, Orton can't be totally ruthless like Austin and HHH used to be cos of PG, Miz should not be in title picture, Swagger, Barrett, Punk and Kaval should get major pushes.

This is my favorite promo from my 11 years of watching wrestling. This match had one of if not the best build ups in history and had one of the craziest heel turns ever. Wrestlemania 17 was the first pay per view I had ever gotten and its one of my favorites. I still watch every week hoping and praying that maybe just maybe it will get better and reach the level it did back then but sadly i dont think that day will ever come. Great video! In my opinion, the blueprint to all the short-coming current WWF hype music videos. Led to a great match with a not-so-great finish that led to an even worse time in World Wrestling Federation history. Nobody booed Austin live at the show and nobody wanted to boo him afterwards. Austin should've stunned McMahon after the match and leave the hero like most everybody wanted.
The ending to the match was good but it could've been so much better. Rock had been garnering boos for months by then. Had McMahon come down and helped The Rock it would've been a massive Heel turn (he wasnt heel yet he still was a fan favourite but was getting some boos) And could've set up a huge story line.
well it set up an even better one didnt it, with austin as the heel! people booed him all year long till november, he hadnt bin a heel since 96, it was brilliant man brilliant!!!!!

The thing I liked about this match was the fact the 2 years prior when Austin and Rock met for the 1st time, Austin was the bigger star and Rock was just getting there and was a level below him, now 2 years after at WM17, both wrestlers were at the same level of stardom and the match needed to happen again!!!!

These two man were the pillars of the company plain and simple, no rivalry has such chemistry anymore, at least we can always go back and remember the good stuff, too bad It wasn't used as a foundation to make something much better.

@ALEJOV18 - the creative team is the problem, not the wrestlers. John Cena is a good entertainer, his face turn was to make money off teens though. HHH is limited to being a comedian most of the time (which doesn't suit him anymore), Undertaker needs a heel turn, Kane needs his mask back, Sheamus is fine imo, Orton can't be totally ruthless like Austin and HHH used to be cos of PG, Miz should not be in title picture, Swagger, Barrett, Punk and Kaval should get major pushes.

Cena vs Orton is actually a pathetic rivalry compared to great feuds like Stone Cold vs The Rock, HBK vs HHH etc.,Cena is the worst fuckin' wrestler ever: he's overrated,he sucks in the ring,and his mic skills are horrible. The Rock on the other hand is god on the mic because he always cuts the greatest promos ever and he kicks ass when he wrestles in the ring.

This is my favorite promo from my 11 years of watching wrestling. This match had one of if not the best build ups in history and had one of the craziest heel turns ever. Wrestlemania 17 was the first pay per view I had ever gotten and its one of my favorites. I still watch every week hoping and praying that maybe just maybe it will get better and reach the level it did back then but sadly i dont think that day will ever come. Thank god for youtube so i can at least see some of the great moments

Morrison will never be a true superstar for many reasons, but one in particular is that he is womanish, and no mic skills. The guy goes in slow mo for an entrance with the most feminine mannerisms i've ever seen from a potential "superstar."

Great video! In my opinion, the blueprint to all the short-coming current WWF hype music videos. Led to a great match with a not-so-great finish that led to an even worse time in World Wrestling Federation history. Nobody booed Austin live at the show and nobody wanted to boo him afterwards. Austin should've stunned McMahon after the match and leave the hero like most everybody wanted.

The ending to the match was good but it could've been so much better. Rock had been garnering boos for months by then. Had McMahon come down and helped The Rock it would've been a massive Heel turn (he wasnt heel yet he still was a fan favourite but was getting some boos) And could've set up a huge story line.

In this particular situation he was being booed because the match took place in Texas...and SCSA clearly was the fan favorite being that he is from Texas. The storyline was great!! All those chair shots and they still couldn't get the Rock down. Best Wrestlemania ever!!!

Paul Heyman was so good as a comentator, he was awesome!
The intensity that he added to storylines "you never ever ever put your hands on another man's wife, Austin warned him, Austin warned the Rock that if anything happened to Debra then it would be The Rock's ass!"
Heyman made it personal, without Heyman no way would that angle have made the same impact.
Also, Heyman brought the best out of JR.
Heyman is a legend. It be great to see Heyman on TNA with his ex employees.

We have a little brother who was never been a big wrestling fan but he has always loved Kane so i put on Wrestlemania 17 and wow he got so into it that he has watched all my wrestling PPV's... Jeez when he starts liking it his fav wrestler becomes champion
