Now you know what "Factory Program" cars are and why they are discounted. Car Salesman: "Yea, this one here was on a "program" on YouTube called 50 Degrees."
But if this is a car carrier why the hell they go through that storm, those cars get free and the vessel will capsize? like the danny F 2 - animal carrier sank with loss of life and animals
@matamatamata Engine Room doesn't get it as bad as the guys on the bridge. They're down low, bridge is up high. Rock your arm back and forth on its elbow..... the top swings more near your hand than at the elbow.
50 at point will it flip ????? i think the driver wa slepping ??? see the capt fixed the rool he cut the waves its nise to know what to do good work'call from below taking water
the bridge was not secured for high seas... this saws poor seamanship and luck of knowledge.. even the rolling is high the second officer should have bare in mind to secure better bridge equipment.... no comformity with high seas check list!!!
I'll never complain about our oil tankers again. Been to 35 degrees while on the port side of the bridge so I simply couldn't have imagined anything worse than that. But you car guys are in a different league. Hats off.... By the way, love the quote. It really fits the feeling.
probably no movement if the crew used enough lashings on each car. In this case of this type of roll, I'm sure some lashing got loose and some damage just had to occur.
Normaly, vehicles are lashed so hard the would still sit tight if the boat roll over :D
@skullfuboots, while that perhaps applies to deck cargo, it's definitely not the case with car carriers or other ships with enclosed cargo space. Moving cargo is the last thing you want in heavy weather.
@Ratboy141, the cars are lashed to the deck. When the car carrier Cougar Ace developed a sixty-something degree list, the cars were still attached to the deck after one month or so. They were scrapped later, though...
Ide have some serious questions for the chief officer ! think he may need to recalculate the ballast plan and or cargo distribution, I was onbored the MV Alam pesona in worse weather than this and we only rolled roughly 30 degree
@Joewalton92 yes i agree, if you are a chief mate onboard the vessel.. always check and calculate the ballast plan and determine the ships stability to prevent accident and for safe and accurate navigation..
Wrong GM? Chief Officer doesn't know how to calculate stability? Slow down? Turn up against the wind? I was in hurricane Katarina outside Halifax in 2005 onboard Wallenius Wilhelmsens Madame Butterfly and we did not have that kind of roll. Zero cargo damage. /2nd Officer W&W

@sertox12345, not that ship. It's a car carrier with extremely high freeboard and it's probably in ballast.
