In CT, the State Police Truck Squad (Tractor trailer enforcement but they also do traffic enforcement) have the same model expedition (but silver). They're easy to spot if you know what they look like but to an out of state driver or just an ignorant driver, you're toast. They have about the same light setup in the front as shown in this video but triple the amount of lights in the rear.
@yohan01 You must be a lawyer you know the law but you don't look at the video .#1they have lights in every corner in front and in the rear #2 This is a UNDERCOVER vehicle I know people like you want to blame first responders for the collisions they get into but it's people like you that mike my job harder .You talk about us looking out for you but it's you how never move when we're responding code 3 you think we are not going anywhere important .But you call us then bitch we took to long
I like the setup! Clean and blends in well with the everyday drivers out there. You've got full 360 degree lighting and the front lights aren't "overpowered" by the headlights. "Too much", I don't agree with that. You can't put a price on safety! Two thumbs up!
Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me, but has anyone else noticed that red lights are somewhat easier to see during the daytime and blue lights are easier to spot at night? Green instantly make me think "Woah, what's that"
@yohan01 AS PER MOST POLICE DEPTS' POLICIES ANY POLICE OR EMERGENCY VEHICLE'S LIGHTS SHOULD HAVE A 360 DEGREE OF VISIBILITY WHEN "RUNNING CODE" ( CODE 3 ) I SAID "MOST". IT'S A LIABILITY FOR THESE DEPTS IN ANY GIVEN CASE THEY STRIKE AN INNOCENT PERSON. IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKS. GREAT QUESTIO THOUGH. TAKE CARE.
@yohan01 ANY POLICE OR EMERGENCY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE A 360 DEGREE OF VISIBILITY WHEN RESPONDING TO AN EMERGENCY AND RUNNING CODE ( CODE 3 ) THAT IS AS PER MOST DEPARTMENT'S POLICIES. IT IS MOSTLY LIABILITY I ANY GIVEN CASE THESE VEHICLES STRIKE AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER OR OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAY. ( HAPPENS MORE THAN YOU THINK )
could use some lights in the front window so people can see you from the side at an intersection. not too often people will look at the rear windows for lights. would look pretty fierce in my rearview tho.
Where was it? I couldnt see it past all of the lights. lol. Nice vid. If only they could actually but that many lights on all of the police cars around here, then maybe we could see them for once.
Awesome light package, Try wiring the Sync wires together. It makes the lights look more uniform and looks better while in use. Other than that awesome job!
i do not think this is a SWAT vehicle because. 1) every SWAT vehicle i have seen, and i have seen my share have been black. and 2) most SWAT SUV's have extended nerf bars for standing on and, grips on the roof.
Uffcourse its FORD expedition but not in swat i belong to swat & i know all places of swat street by street .i am 100% sure its not in swat ZEROOOOO FAKE VIDEO
if you drive on the street i can tell you if it an unmarked police car ?
How can u tell
if you look close in the revers light also back up light sometimes u can see the black rubber from the strobelight or if you look close in the grill in front of the car you can see the clear requtengular white led in the grill
Judging by the rest of this guy's channel it looks as though he does emergency equipment installs on municipal and emergency vehicles. So, I wouldn't personally doubt the fact that it's a SWAT vehicle. Maybe you should think before you post negative comments. Have a good one!
Ive been in law enforcement for 14 years in NYC, and theres a saying here for all cops who are in a unit involving high speed driving to jobs. Youre lighting package is only good if youve got no "blind spots"....This Expedition from side view is "T-Bone" prone because the front 8-10 feet has no light coverage if driver was to try to clear intersection day or night. Needs clearing strobes side mounted as well as side view mirror light "caps" if for undercover you'd light the step-rails
***Here's something you can try to see exactly what I mean*** When youre watching this try to pause the video when the camera view is looking @ the grill. Okay Now many lights can you count? Now press play again & pause it when the cameras lookin @ the side of truck, How many did ya count then? Now imagine the 1pm sun's high in the sky & youre responding to a gun-run & you gotta get thru an intersection) I'm predicting injured P.O. involved in a T/A. cuz somebody was too involved on their cell.
The point of my comment was that while the lights are pretty and the truck is sick overall...this truck will most likely be sitting in a JUNK YARD for parts..because you cannot tell its an EMERGENCY VEHICLE quickly enough from the side if the driver should have to eat a light or a stop sign on the way to a priority call. We're TALKIN ABOUT A 22 FOOT S.U.V. ENTERING A DARK INTERSECTION & ITS ONLY WARNING LIGHT IS IN THE REAR QUARTER PANEL WINDOW??? Just seems like poor placement to me.
They are sometimes called panda cars (at least in the UK anyway) because they were originally black and white and looked kinda like pandas (vagually).
I completely agree... they should have put something on the mirrors.. or like you said fenders. Shit, even up towards the front on the running boards... Fuck all the people who said there's no point to your comment. They prolly have nothing to do with the emergency services anyway. Stay safe!
@STREETLIFE167 If this SUV was entering a dark intersection at night, I guarantee anyone around would know it. LED lights put out a huge amount of light. My department doesn't use LED (we use strobes) and even those are incredibly bright at night, even in fully unmarked cars with very few actual lights in them. Trust me, it doesn't need more side lights.
yeah i agree I'm in EMS and a firefighter and we have 2 Ford expeditons and both have b post lights and a lightbar and small LEDs in the back side window just cause intersections are the most dangerous part of a response and your side and back warning power needs to be the most powerful
I never thought about that, intersections being most dangerous, but that seems so true. I'm going to school in May for EMT-B in hopes of becoming a firefighter (got some iron-pumping to do) but if that doesn't work out then I'm going EMT-I. But that's a good thing to keep in mind.
You may think so.... until you are the one standing on the side of the road next to an unmarked with minimal lights and cars whipping by you because they don't see the "minimal" lighting until they are 20 feet away. I know because my dept has an expedition with one deck LED and 2 rear flashers (through tinted windows). People even comment that they didn't see the lights.
Is the minimum amount of lights somehow regulated by law in the U.S.?
Because every US police car I see has many many lights.
Over here in the Netherlands unmarked police cars are equiped with Whelen Flashers in the grill, Whelen Strobe/flashers behind windshield, Strobes/flashers behind the rear window and a removable light on the roof.
my towns unmarked police cars have 2 sets of red + blue flashers in the grill and 2 sets of red + blue flashers in the top of the windshield (and the typical flashing headlights and taillights) so what im getting at is i guess u cant have too many lights lol

There is actually no law against how many warning lights there is on one police or EMS vehicle. just as annoying as the person wants to be I guess.

Just a question. Basically is the side lights important?

@yohan01 Yes, it's when police cars are going in an intersection so drivers on the side see that it's an emergency vehicle. Good question.

Funny, Magnetic. (Why -3?)
Lights CAN trigger seizures.
Our tax dollar$ $quandered.
These dinky lights are an expensive waste.
They should be COORDINATED to flash together. Create a greater visual impact. to attract the unexpecting eye in bright daylight.
Side-facing lights in the back window are ridiculous. Place in front wheel wells.
Rear lights are a total waste. Existing four-way flashers are far better.
