Felt so good to wipe their arrogant smiles off their faces on that wonderful night in Kansas City. 83-79, baby! Face it, Joke-lahoma; you'll never win a national title in basketball! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
This was the greatest team to never win the championship. We play Ku 9/out of 10 we beat you 9 times. You just happened to beat us the one time. I'll never forget it. 79-83. I was 16 lol
Ha...you may be right but my vote is actually for Memphis in '08. We beat that team and they had more talent than we did. I think in '88 we had the overall best talented player, and OU couldn't contain him.
I can't deny how good Manning was as a college player. It was Danny and the miracles. The miracles, they get no credit, but damn in that game. Newton did a wrap around, Normor a walk on, was hitting big shots. Everyone in that game stepped up. They ran with us in the 1st half 50-50. In the second half they controlled the clock, there were so many shots hit at the buzzer. They milked the clock. They out coached us.
@ed2kou1 You guys definitely had a better team... (you beat us twice in the regular season), KU was just on a roll that couldn't be stopped. OU was real good that year no doubt though.
@ed2kou1 You're right about the coaching though...no doubt Larry Brown was a better coach than Tubbs. You guys had the better overall talent though, KU had the best player and best coach.
Man did OK have some great basketball teams in the 80's and early 90's. Stacey King, Mookie Blaylock, Harvey Grant....can't believe that team didn't win it all. Tubbs just got out coached.
Big 8 basketball was incredible that year in '88...KSU made the Regional final...OU played their way to the National Final by beating Louisville, Villanova and Arizona but came up short to Danny and the Miracles!
i ve lived in lawrence for ten years and no one gives a damn about ku loser ass football. where did your "greatest football coach" come from OU! jayhawks are fair weather fans nothing more. BOOMER SOONER

Thanks for coming to Kansas City, Sooners. We appreciate y'all showing up so that we could beat you for the National Championship. It couldn't have happened to a better bunch of guys.
Yeah hows that football team doin? Yeah real powerhouse you got there. See you in Norman in a month, just a speed bump to Championship #8!!!!!! Boomer Sooner
OU played KU what, three times in 88, and beat them the first two times. Too bad you didn't manage to win the Big 8 that year, though, or even show up to play us in that tourney.
Such a bad ass team, they beat a extremely talented Arizona team, and then lost to Kansas in a great final. They were cocky bunch too, I loved when these Oklahoma teams played UNLV, what a great rivalry.

Oh yeah!!! Mookie Blaylock & Ricky Grace, the best defensive backcourt before UNLV's Greg Anthony & Anderson Hunt.

That is if you can beat Texas and TCU first...
You're not going to win the national championship tomorrow against TCU.
As for KU's football team, all I can say is we'll see. We still have Iowa State and Colorado before you and I'm concerned about ISU now.

come on you know if we would have played 10 games that year the sooners would have won 9 we had 4 nba players you had wounded knee danny manning.
