  • what snare do you use?

  • i might be getting this set:D i hope it sounds as good as yours(:

  • I'm so F***ing subscribed.. nice buddy.. really really nice (sound and technique! Just keep jamming and ROCK N' ROLL THE WORLD!) :D \m/

  • congratulations great technique

  • Me again. Just saw this video again. EPIC. What a set.

  • dude! great sound! :) what reso and batter are you usingfor the snare?

  • Whats heads are on the toms..?

  • this is the same set i have. how did you make it sound so good? and heads.what heads

  • @thenewbliss ive used many heads and achieved the sound that im going for. basic two ply clear or coated on top with one ply clears on bottoms. i dont really have any tuning secrets, but i do have a tuning video if youre interested in that. :)

  • @thenewbliss Heads?

  • @thenewbliss

    Few reasons:

    1). Talented Drummer

2). It's mic'd. Mic'ing your kit enables you to eliminate overtones and highs and it make it thump.

    3). Great tuning.

  • for me, its hard to hear how skilled you are. All i hear is some flashey fills. i wanna hear you groove. cuz, a drummer is good if he grooves good :)

  • @gregersmoellerjensen I'm definitely not the best, but I have other videos for you to watch! This is my oldest.

  • @Sc0ttPrian Scott, you're a great drummer. Don't doubt your talent because of youtube opinions.

  • These drums sound so freaking good. Thanks for the awesome video. I'm putting my faith in this drum set because I'm hoping I'll never have to buy another one after it!

  • @160ofthe90s Thats excellent! let them know I sent you ;)

  • 21 people have no taste in drumming ;D

  • Everything sounds great, but toms are waaaaay loud in the mix

  • @mobilemikev right.

  • nice drumming, great kit, and great quality recording sound. most drummers on youtube dont bother to individually mic their kit, and then it sounds awful. this sounds great.

  • i like your style kid

  • dude gretsch renown maples are the best drums I've heard in my life hands down... I kinda regret getting an SJC, the bearing edges on these kits make the toms sound amazing, should have gone 30 degree instead of 45 =(

  • Easily the best sounding set on YouTube. BY FAR. Well done.

  • hi u realy got perfect saund whats name of your mic and what s program u use for that saund

  • what drumheads are they????

  • Are you using a double bass pedal or single?

  • @sgtpepperoni ehh double.

  • What Tom Heads Are you using...I have the same exact drum kit

  • @0329ra i just stick with whatever i can get at the store of basic two plys. usually uncoated. i may try something different the next time i buy top heads, something not sold in stores, but i havent looked into it yet :)

  • very cool!

  • @JoeyGenz44 no, the tom MICS sucked.

  • are you using gate on the toms?

  • @akadylan not in this video. actually, i didnt use overheads in this video, so i used the signals in the tom mics for cymbals.

  • Well, Those are some fucking awesome sounding toms you have got there!

  • bravo, perfect, good sound! the best drum kit.

  • Hey dude that's a mean sounding kit.... probably best sounding Gretsch Catalina on youtube! What heads have you got on the kit?

  • your amazing.

  • o cara toca bem

  • your toms, are the most beatiful sound things.

    ever.

  • hey! love your snare! which one do U use?

  • hey man, what are the sizes of ur toms?

  • @LiGhTdAsPaRkS 8, 10, 12, 14

  • hey good drumming! I'd like to ask, what kick drum heads do you use and how do u tune/muffle your kick drum? I'm trying get that kind of boomy kick drum sound. thx!

  • @Groovemaster2k because of how old this video is, everything about my recording and drumming is different but the drums themselves. i dont muffle my kick TOO much, but i dont let it speak too much. however i have plugins in my computer that help me perfect this within a compressed mix.

im actually using a pinstripe head on my kick at the moment which sounds fine in recording, but i probably wont be using it again once i replace it.

  • los que calificaron negativo son envidiosos. tocas excelente loco! :)

  • Scott, you are great man! I just started a forum dedicated to gretsch drums, gretsch drum forum dot com. i was hoping you might join up and help me build up a sick community of gretsch drummers.

  • Your kit sounds so nice!!!! Screw you :(.... :P Lmao, you are a fantastic drummer as well.

  • @HockeyG33 hahaha :) thank you

  • Haha! It's cool, you're alright homie. Gretsch just kinda confused me cause I had my eye on their Catalina Maple after playing on it at Guitar Center. Then I saw online how they also have the Catalina Ash, Fusion Maple, Euro Maple. I was like WTH's all that?!

Typed in Catalina Maple on YouTube and found your videos.... Just added more confusion and questions. Heh.

I'm 19, workin at Walmart and goin to college. I NEED to get back on a set, I'm fiendin. So I started my semi-affordable set with th

  • Ahh guey my bad! Douche. I just didn't know what the hell 'Renown' was or that it was even a type of material.....douche.

Ive heard of maple, ash, birch, etc. But just never heard of Renown.

Maybe you could've elaborated a bit before answering me like a douche jerk ass. :( Meanie. Lol

  • @krookedsb23 Dear God!!!!!! haha im sorry, i wasnt quite sure how to answer that, i figured it would sound douchy either way.. sorry about that lol

  • @Sc0ttPrian Hi Scott. I wanted to inquire about the sizes of the drums and what mics you're using. They sound incredible, tuned perfect, and you're a fine player by the way.

  • @cweeks3665 Thank you so much. the toms are evens, 8 10 12 and 14. the kick is 22by22, the mics in this video are nothing special at all, i use sm57s now, and they sound much better. :)

  • how you tune your drums like that??? :D ou man.. :( i have Tama Tension Watch and i already cant!! :/ i have gretsch catalina drums and evans g1 heads .. is it all about heads?? .. beacause i have coated heads

  • @FialaErik your problem may possibly be the focus on the tension with your tension tunning device. i posted a video about how i tune my drums, not sure if its still up, but try tunning to a fourth interval between the top and bottom heads.

  • awesome

  • hey man, this has already probably been answered, but I got tired after the 15th page of comments.

What shell pack is this? Is this the Gretsch Catalina Maple?

    Thanks bud.

  • @krookedsb23 you should have checked the title first ;) its the renown pack. unless theres something im missing here..

  • you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anyone knows what is the size of the snare? I liked it a lot!

  • @mikesstudents 14 by 6.5 ;)

  • Thnx Scott. You are awesome dude. It is the renown maple snare right? Nice crack sound

  • @mikesstudents its actually the black panther snare :) thank you!

  • @Sc0ttPrian when you say a "birds eye" you mean the color? because i found the mapex black panther the traditional. check this out and tell me if this is it? thnx

  • @Sc0ttPrian Hey Scott, sorry for wasting your time. I want to buy this snare. I searched almost all stores in the internet but i did not found the "birdseye". What does this birdseye means? Is it the color? Could you please show me the link to see this snare? Thnx man.

  • Thnx for your reply. It is the renown maple snare right?

  • what batter and resonant heads are you using for the toms?

  • NIce Solo and very nice sound this set is awesome!!!!

  • are you in texas?

  • @turbodudeyeah Georgia actually.

  • Oh my. You're like a younger Mike Mangini!

  • that ride bell... i love it what ride is that?

  • @WillyBangsTheDrum sabian power bell 22 inches

  • how much did you get your set for???

  • your pretty good but what's your main genre????

  • @hewhodrums honestly i dont have a main genre anymore.. i started with metal, but now i dont know.

  • @dfurnaridrummer 14x6x5 inches deep

  • HEY ! CONGRATULATIONS ! GREAT SOUND , GREAT TECHNIC !

  • hey, cymbals?

  • @Esotheria012 currently, meinl, in this video sabian vault hihats, and hand hammered power bell ride. not sure which crash this is, possibly zildjian a custom, but hopefully its a sabian vault crash.

  • your kit is like the most kick ass sounding kit ive ever herd! lol.

  • hey scott what type of plugins did you used for recording this drums?

  • @krazyeknine57 in this video i used a digital multitrack board, no plugins or editing going on here.

  • Very good sound.

    how to record?

  • @Indyrockable korg d1600

  • been looking at these drums recently, and wow they sound great here, your tuning is awesome and you play really well too.

  • lol

  • @yoguy120 ohgod.

  • @Sc0ttPrian lol im sorry i just really like your drumming and i play the drums to i was wondering what editing program do you use because i would like to record things please reply thanx

  • @yoguy120 i actually didnt use any programs to edit the audio in this video, but currently i use samplitude.

  • i just lost ALOT of jiz

  • looks like someones rich

  • well done kid ;)... and the set sounds fffuckin great!!!

  • @GeorgePougasJR Thank you!!!

  • Weird, I own the same drum set, same snare, and my drumming style is freakishly similar to yours. May I ask who you're major drumming influences are?

  • @AgileCow Well this is an old video i have been playing much different stuff lately, for example i LOVE porcupine tree.

  • @Sc0ttPrian Dude me too. Them, along with dreamtheater and are my favorite bands. I"m actually going to see PT in 10 days

  • @AgileCow that is awesome, i just saw them a few months back. GREAT band

  • The KICK is KICKING :O

    The TOMS are SHOOTING

    The SNARE is AWESOME :O

  • those toms sound awesome! Did those heads come with the set? or did you buy a brand, if so tell me which one

  • @Chavacito32 for the most part i just stick to simple double ply clears and coated heads for tops and single ply clears for bottoms. i switch back and forth from evans to remos.

  • What model black panther snare is that?

  • @TONSQUAD Birds Eye Maple 6.5 inches deep

  • is that a 14x14 floor tom?

  • @WillyBangsTheDrum indeed it is.

  • this kid is a fuckin beast

  • how old are you in this?

  • @ratchetninja21 Im pretty sure i was 18

  • @Sc0ttPrian oh nice. okay. no offense, but you look younger and i was like. shit, i got work to do hahaha

  • @ratchetninja21 haha yeah i have heard that a few times in this video, its all good ;)

  • saved.....you play.....

  • dude... your shit is supreme. keep it up

  • what kind of heads r u using here?

  • @rockstarracing34 stock heads.

  • @rockstarracing34 there stocks, so evans g2 clear batter and g1 reso

  • how long have you been playing?

  • @broha717 around 9 years today, but this video is my oldest video so much has changed since i shot this.

  • Nice man u were rockin thoughts drums man

  • Those drums sound VERRRRY nice and you know how to make them talk back to ya'!!!!! Excellent.

  • could you explain me the difference between different brands of maple drums? if the the kind of wood is the same shouldn't they sound all the same?

what kind of snare, pedals and heads do you use?

you are very good on drums

    many thanks

  • could you explain me the difference between different brands of maple drums? if the the kind of wood is the same shouldn't they sound all the same?

    many thanks

  • how much for this drum kit?

  • @nazzare79 depends where you get it, i payed around 1,300

  • YOU SOUND SWEET BRO....Nice!!!!!! Keep rocking you should go in drum off....

  • dayum i need to quit playing

  • nice kick drum sound i have the same kit do you tention tight? or loose?

  • @sampaxify i have the tension on my pedals all the way tight. is that what youre asking?

  • @Sc0ttPrian sorry man, nah i was asking how tight your kick drum head is screwed down

  • @sampaxify the batter side head is almost as loose as it can go while the front head is on the tight side.

  • What heads do you use? I have the stock heads still on (Evans) and was wondering if there are heads you have tried that you prefer to stock.

  • @mccthug i use either remo or evans, i have switched to coated heads, but al the batter side heads i buy are two ply heads without any rings or extra material in the head.

right now i am using G2 coated, however i switch from Remo Emperors every now and then

Remo Emperors or Evans G2's for toms. for my snare batter side, i have been using Emperor X for years.

  • @Sc0ttPrian Scott, i promise you, if you try out Aquarian's super 2's you would stick to it for the rest of your life. Give it a try :D

  • Sounds goood!

  • what is that thing on top of your hihat? it looks like a clip

  • @enjoi4486 yes! it is a drop clutch that i havent used one single time. basically it has a switch that allows you to close your hihat without using the pedal, you close the pedal to allow for regular use again.

  • @Sc0ttPrian alright thanks, like i have seen quite a bit of people with those things on the top of those hi hats and i didn't know what it was. thanks.

  • @enjoi4486 no problem!

  • @Sc0ttPrian ,

Scott, can you please tell me wht snare model your using? Mapex/Black Panther/???

  • very nice sounding kit, I play a lot of metal gigs myself and I was wondering if these kits would be appropriate, but it definitely works ill have to look into one. Good stuff...

  • @dolguldur6 Thank you! do you have a minute? i have a few myspace pages with examples with this kit, from jazz to metal.

  • Sounds sick dude awesome!!!

  • @b33kmen Thank you so much! :)

  • good speed.... but u gotta be more creative ... non just toms pun pun pin pun pon pun pun thats borin`

  • @ElKiNf im Extremely sorry for wasting your time

  • Hey how is the renown different than the Catalina maple?

  • @deftdrummer renown is made of a higher quality maple. It also has better hardware

  • you are a horrible drummer, up to 2:00 , i mean i respect solo drummer and what not, but that's just unnecessary noise... and really boring to watch..

  • @jordanlol117 im sorry i wasted your time. i will remove all of my videos so you dont have to sit through my playing any more :)

  • @jordanlol117 And your an asshole. Actually he has some pretty good metal fill chops, something I haven't quite nailed down in 14 years of playing. Good acoustic recording too. Just go away jordan

  • @jordanlol117 HA. Your a laugh man. Accusing people of being horrible. No one to keep you accountable to your words. Tough guy. Why don't you go watch a teletubby video and comment on how much you hate that too.

  • @jordanlol117 WHAT? i think he is awesome

  • Nice tom sounds!

    What effects are you using?

  • @tropicaljosiah no effects other than eq!

  • Nice Drumming man

  • That is excellent tone, man!!! Excellent playing as well! I checked out your channel too and you've got some siick musical taste. Hats off to you, sir

  • kid kicks ass

  • @chrisGTO66 Thanks man!

  • were do i get a gretsch catalina that is not a SHELL PACK i dont see why they just sell it as a full kit [ps: your awsome]

  • adio tshirt..... do you skate?

  • I just accidently look this vid vid. and I have to comment. Respect man! Our hand styles are similiar, but I can't afford double bass, and you are using it properly :D! Can you tell me, are you using d. bass from the beggining or you start using it after..? :)

  • @thestoryteller612 Thank you! i started off with single bass, this way i could get into using my hihat with my foot instead of relying on two pedals for my kick. theres a reason we have a pedal for the hihat!

to answer your other questions, i dont ever wear eye shadow haha, and what was your other post about, why do i post videos? or was that to someone else?

  • Tell me about your kit!!! there may be hope!

  • Nice drumming ! :D

  • Liking the toms and kick actually.

  • i didnt use anything special in this video, i used a superlux drum mic kit. generic. lower end mics.

  • Hey, Scott, where did u record that, in Holland?

'cause i swas it at a site of Sticks&Strings in Venlo, Holland???

Nice drummin, what's ur age if i me be so impertinent to ask, i'm 53 and play bass/piano so no competition, lol!

  • Haha i know nothing about that site. im from the united states, nothing fancy going on here. im 20 my friend.

  • hey man, I'm really new to micing drums but I wanted to ask do you set the mic on any type of pad inside the bass drum? btw man your a sick drummer dude, Takes alot to impress me, esspecially on youtube, but wow, your poly rythems are steller. love the way the kit sounds to. also is that an audix kick mic? thanks for the help and keep the vids comming. I'm a fan.

  • @jcthedrummer Awesome, thank you! thats real good to hear. its a superlux mic (nothing special) it is set on the foam that i use to muffle the drum, but i use a stand now. it was broken while i recorded this so i had no choice.

  • hey im buying a gretsch set kinda lik this one. what are the tom sizes? thanks

  • @dudeguy465 mine came with 8 10 12 14

  • Ur sick... Can you give me any tips on tuning my set like yours

  • @Jcr661 Well, i JUST created and uploaded a video explaining how i tune my drums, i think that may be what youre looking for!

  • yor kit sounds AMAZING! but you play amazing, too ;D
