@rkfromchi for a proper performance comparison, tires must be similar or atleast comparable. thats why they have exactly similar tires racecars. the michelin pilot sport cup semi slicks make a huge difference in performance. they shave off alot of time compared to the normal sport tires like other cars. im not talking a side, im just telling the truth cus i found out about it too. i like all good cars with my fav being the murci 670 and aventador. so im not a ferrari fanboy either.

The problem with the American Top Gear is it's too edited. The Ferrari 458 is better statistically. More efficient engine, I mean its almost two liters less than the Corvette's. The Corvette is just all engine and no substance. Basically, jam as much power in as you can before the tread rips off and call it quits. No elegance or class.

It may have a cheap ass interior, and lack of quality overall butt it was build for a track, not a drag strip. It actually beats the ferrari on most tracks, even tho the ferrai wins in a 1/4 mile. The Challenger is just a redressed Chrysler C300 which again used to be a 17 years old lower end Mercedes. Except styling it to look like a musclecar, nothing has actually been done to improve its lack of capabilities. Except fit a big engine. No wonder these things dont sell outside america.

THIS challenger is a revived brand. Made to look like the old one. As traditional for "musclecars" its built on low budgets and is really just a normal car with a big engine. Trouble with selling them abroad is that Europeans tax cars for weight, emissions, enginesize, power, all environmental shit. So a Challenger ends up costing Porsche money. A Corvettes becomes Lambo price. These cars were never built to compete at that level and dont have the quality to match.
Funny how all of those manage to sell in EVERY country tho. Because they arent cheaply built on 17 years old Mercedeses and sold entirely on patriotism alone. You see... Its very difficult market american patriotism abroad.

@Silentdreamer5 The ZR1 is faster than the 458, its not believing it or not, everywhere except on the the UK top gear the ZR1 has faster track times, mainly because when tested in the UK they ran it on a rainy day for the track time which on a car with 638 HP kills the time. Anyway, it should be faster than the Ferrari, it has 76 more HP and only weighs 78 lbs (45 kg) more, so it should be faster. The 458 is great though, but you can stop hating because the American car is faster.

I think people pissing and moaning about the ZR1 being plastic. most the ZR1s body is carbon fiber, and the frame isn't plastic, the suspensions not plastic, the engines not plasic, the seats would be better if they were plastic, but the point is other then the rear panel the rest of the car is carbon fiber or metal.
I love the ZR-1, but god dammit, why are they so biased towards the ZR-1? A drag race, and the ZR-1 still got beaten, yes it may be faster, but the 458 is still the best vehicle there.

They view cars as more than just machines for transportation. For example the VW Golf is better than an Alfa Romeo 147(go watch the video). It's faster,more reliable,and more practical.However all three of them conclude that the Alfa is better just because it's an insane car that puts a smile on your face.As for the humor,US top gear fails there.

@streetpunk83 I'm a corvette fan so dont go all crazy on me, but the 458 is faster based on car magazine tests. Car and driver got a 458 to do 11.0 at 131. I have yet to see a ZR1 do either of those numbers, maybe a pro driver can do a better time in a ZR1, or somebody that owns a ZR1 and has a lot of practice launching it. Idk what tanner is talking about "squatting like a drag car" b/c of the suspension, 458 has magnetic ride too.
@streetpunk83 I have seen the 10.7, but I just find it interesting that car magazines can never get times close to owners you put videos of youtube at a strip. MT brings in Randy Pobst to do all those runs at laguna seca, I would like to see what 1/4mile time he could get with a stock ZR1. Some tests are just pathetic when they get high 3's to 60 and high 11's in the quarter, but weather and surface probably matters a lot for a ZR1 compared to a GTR. ZR1 needs better launch control
@Fijaskoo The corvette is meant to be more of a track car, and it is a better track car. They lead on that this was supposed to be the opposite of reality. American sports cars are typically meant to be track cars these days instead of drag cars because of what people threw a big fit about for the past forever. Now other companies are building their vehicles to get better spec numbers for motortrend and edmunds, and none of them test track times when they review a car.
@Fijaskoo I agree, this is no where near as good as the UK Top Gear, they are just a way better group of people, I mean I am sure it is all equally as scripted, but in the American version it is way too obvious, the UK hosts just have way better chemistry, and other than May, both Clarkson and Hammond can drive well, on the US version only Foust can drive. That said both versions kind of lean towards cars from their area being the best, but I will say the ZR1 is a beast, and love the 458 too

The problem with the American Top Gear is it's too edited. The Ferrari 458 is better statistically. More efficient engine, I mean its almost two liters less than the Corvette's. The Corvette is just all engine and no substance. Basically, jam as much power in as you can before the tread rips off and call it quits. No elegance or class.

It may have a cheap ass interior, and lack of quality overall butt it was build for a track, not a drag strip. It actually beats the ferrari on most tracks, even tho the ferrai wins in a 1/4 mile. But in a standing Mile it would win. Look at other youtube track vids it beats the 458 alot. I love ferrari and i want 1, but ZR1 is a beast for $130.000

THIS challenger is a revived brand. Made to look like the old one. As traditional for "musclecars" its built on low budgets and is really just a normal car with a big engine. Trouble with selling them abroad is that Europeans tax cars for weight, emissions, enginesize, power, all environmental shit. So a Challenger ends up costing Porsche money. A Corvettes becomes Lambo price. These cars were never built to compete at that level and dont have the quality to match.

@Silentdreamer5 The ZR1 is faster than the 458, its not believing it or not, everywhere except on the the UK top gear the ZR1 has faster track times, mainly because when tested in the UK they ran it on a rainy day for the track time which on a car with 638 HP kills the time. Anyway, it should be faster than the Ferrari, it has 76 more HP and only weighs 78 lbs (45 kg) more, so it should be faster. The 458 is great though, but you can stop hating because the American car is faster.

They view cars as more than just machines for transportation. For example the VW Golf is better than an Alfa Romeo 147(go watch the video). It's faster,more reliable,and more practical.However all three of them conclude that the Alfa is better just because it's an insane car that puts a smile on your face.As for the humor,US top gear fails there.

I have yet to see the 458 run under an 11 stock. I don't know about them making American cars seem better than they are however in a race environment the Zr1 beats the 458 thats for sure. @streetpunk83 I'm a corvette fan so dont go all crazy on me, but the 458 is faster based on car magazine tests. Car and driver got a 458 to do 11.0 at 131. I have yet to see a ZR1 do either of those numbers, maybe a pro driver can do a better time in a ZR1, or somebody that owns a ZR1 and has a lot of practice launching it. Idk what tanner is talking about "squatting like a drag car" b/c of the suspension, 458 has magnetic ride too.

MT brings in Randy Pobst to do all those runs at laguna seca, I would like to see what 1/4mile time he could get with a stock ZR1. Some tests are just pathetic when they get high 3's to 60 and high 11's in the quarter, but weather and surface probably matters a lot for a ZR1 compared to a GTR. ZR1 needs better launch control

@Fijaskoo The corvette is meant to be more of a track car, and it is a better track car. They lead on that this was supposed to be the opposite of reality. American sports cars are typically meant to be track cars these days instead of drag cars because of what people threw a big fit about for the past forever. Now other companies are building their vehicles to get better spec numbers for motortrend and edmunds, and none of them test track times when they review a car.

@Fijaskoo I agree, this is no where near as good as the UK Top Gear, they are just a way better group of people, I mean I am sure it is all equally as scripted, but in the American version it is way too obvious, the UK hosts just have way better chemistry, and other than May, both Clarkson and Hammond can drive well, on the US version only Foust can drive. That said both versions kind of lean towards cars from their area being the best, but I will say the ZR1 is a beast, and love the 458 too

Today you pretty much get what you pay for. Aslong as Im schooling you anyway. The magneride system is all clever and shit but why dont we all use it then? Because the viscosity of the iron particle loaded fluid means it corrodes through conventional dampeners so they need to be chromeplated which adds around 5 kilos of weight to each wheel on cars that spend alot of money being light weight. Oh and... Ferrari run their own system. Not Chinese GM tech.
