My class and like 3 other classes whatched 1-3 chapters, but I was smart and came home and looked up this movie on like 25 different web sites and just whatched the movie in chapters..... I <3 THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
This movie is one of my faves. I love watching movies like this because I love to watch about change and equality. I love to see how my people overcame such hatred. Sadly, racism has not gone anywhere. As long as there is hatred racism will always exist in this world. But, the most important thing we can do is to rise above all of the hatred and evil that exists in this world. As long as we put our best foot forward and ignore the ignorance of people than we can truly succeed.
One thing that really pisses me off is racism. I have number of friends that are colored ( pardon my language) and I treat them with the respect, care, and dignity they deserver. That mrs. woodmere has a lot of nerve to treat that sweet colored girl like crap, I think she deserves to be fired because she's one of those people that doesn't give a damn
this was a good movie that we all learned from..... seems to me the rubys strenth came from her mother constantly reminding her to believe in Jesus ....for if you believe you will over come.

disney has changed so much today...i remember when the color of friendship had just come out...they don't make them like this anymore...idk if they even show some of these movies anymore
@Josiahizhere Why? If you want everybody to be treated equally, we have to start by NOT hating eachother!!! I agree, my race (White) did some horrible things back then, but if we want that to change, we have to start liking eachother!!!
@Portal2Fan1337 I dont remember sayin i wanted everybody to b treated equally in my post. But I do understand what ur point however u can't fault me for feeling the way that I do when i see movies like this. It makes me dislike ur race for the things that they have done not only to my ancestors but to other races as well.. so since karma is a bitch u crackers sometimes have to deal with her rathe. *shrugs* lol...
@Josiahizhere Its just skin. and, you know this, our ancestors went through some terrible things so that we wouldn't have to in this day and age, And, remember its just skin
what an excellent film thank you so much for uploading this. I think Ruby is a very brave person to stand out above everyone else at such a young age when most adults would of shied away from a situation like this. Her story sure makes you think about how we treat others and, what we can do to make things better for other people.
wow, amazing story. loved it, and it made me cry. felt pretty much the same way when i, as an african little girl, first went to school in Belgium back in 1998.
I'm especially impressed by the way her parents tought her about Jesus Christ and the bible. Praise The Lord :-)

Hope this will reach each little piece of this world and make us all feel like we have something in commen: being a human with feelings like love, hope and just being!! Srry for all the mistakes.. Lady you cut the girl off from other students, she's all alone in a school that is surrounded by Klansmen and other bigots who are so blind they've reduce a human being to an it, you prevent her from making friends, with the exception of her teacher, she endured a school year that no one should have to endure, and put her heart and soul into passing those tests, and you have the audacity to lower her grades because you can't accept she was a great student. Ruby wasn't the problem you were
I would had slap the living shit out of that pricipal, for being racist and tried to lower her grade and tried to get her out of her school because shes black, and what a dirty bitch she is.Damn!
Loved the movie it really tought me something. That u should not judge someone by their color cause at the end of the day no matter wat were all alike. Thank u ruby bridges.
Black folk has come so far, makes me sad when I see black on black haterade and fighting, shootings the like, make me embarassed. I was angry after watching this movie but after I thought One thing I learned God is not partial, Its not ok that white folk did this but we can all learn from the past to build our future as a human race together. Ruby Bridges your a hero.
@MissBossLadyTy black people use to have nothing, well they did, but you knwo what i mean with the rights and all. Blacks today are treated equally because of the many great men and women, like Dr. M.Luther king, Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, I could go on forever, but you know what I mean, Without them, how would this world be? Can you and I and all of us agree with this, Sorry for wasting your time with this comment, but I just felt like writing what I felt inside :)
What many people don't ackowledge about racism (mainly because we as a society choose NOT to have open dialogue about the subject), is that Racism and Prejudice are NOT naturally apart of our genetic makeup. As children we are open to meeting and getting to know almost anyone. Racism and Prejudice are TAUGHT to us by the adults that are around us. Its their baggage that we carry with us, as we get older. Children's personalities are like sponges. They absorb EVERYTHING around them.
@Equasia1 if you're talking about Ruby she hasn't passed she doesn't even look that old I'd say shes in her late 50s she met with President Obama on July 15th of this year..or 2011 and they have a video of it on here and on the whitehouse.gov website. Just google july 15 President Obama and you'll see the link that states he met Civil Rights Icon Ruby Bridges. =)
This video is amazing!!!! I love how christian values played a key role throughout Ruby Bridges life. In real life Chaz Monets' (Ruby Bridges) grandmother goes to my church (The International Church Of Metro Detroit) and she lives with the same values Ruby has in this movie.
Great movie its so sad what hatred can do to a person but its wonderful how a childs innocence can show adults how to love and to forgive one another what a wonderful lesson.
I first watched this when I was in the 8th grade back in 2003. I wrote a reflection piece on it that was featured during Catholic Education Week. This movie inspired me back then and inspires me even now.
Wow. This was the first movie I ever saw at school. I remember seeing this in Kindergarten. Thank you so much for uploading this, and bringing me back to my childhood

ok, this movie is the best i have seen so fart, it make me cry, it make me think how black peopple sufer n i know 2 cause even that am "white" am mexican n every time some 1 from hispanic peopple do some thing wrong they say that f.. mexican even if he/she can be from el salvador, gutemala or other, peopple juge u 4 the color of ur skin when is the soul that matter, cause in side we r all the same n is true no 1 know if GOD is white, black or yellow, the thing is that hi love u no matter what.
@bubblinbrownsugar616 lol I know my english isnt thar god but like I said am from Mexico N I only went 2 skool 4 3years, but I try n thats what matters :O)
@bubblinbrownsugar616 lol I know my english isnt thar god but like I said am from Mexico N I only went 2 skool 4 3years, but I try n thats what matters :O)
@cybergirl10001 Yup! And they made "The color of friendship".. That movie is about a South African white girl living with a black senator's family as part of a student exchange program. While back then apartheid was still the norm in South Africa!! Disney used to make movies like these to make you think on the more important things in life. Sad to see that they lost that spark!!
Thank you. Everyone should watch this movie to see how bad things were and make sure nothing like that EVER happens again. She was only 6! What evil people would threaten to kill a 6 year old under any circumstances?! Thank you for this movie
It is so sad how people used to treat black people. :( I thought this movie was really sweet. Especaily how she prayed for the ones who were just plain mean to her. I think his movie is truley touching and sweet.
@solacethedreamer really so none of the students still never came back, thats insane. I'm black but even if i was a white parent back then, i would have had enough of standing outside the school protesting and get my child back into her class. Ruby is such a remarkable person with an even more remarkable story, taught me alot! btw how did you know about ruby's teacher staying with her til high school and everything please reply luv always madisynn
@Mad4MileyCyrus i read up on her life during that time, and about 5 (give or take) came back but they were in other classrooms. Ruby never saw them except when they were entering and leaving. The Principal never changed her way of thinking and unlike the movie, Ruby was NEVER allowed outside. It was too dangerous for her. There was a woman who constantly threatened her, saying she would poison or kill her. Ruby's grandfather also lost his job, he was a sharecropper & i think owned land too.
That mrs.woodmir needs to go suck a black cock...... This movie made me cry because my family is from the north so I don't know what goes on, I had no one to tell me about segregation. If I was there I would be angry. T.T
@1.50 I can't believe that after all the slander, death threats, hate, loneliness and fear Ruby has already been put through, this women still wants to take more away from her. Just can't believe it. Thank God Mrs Henry had her head on right.
This is such a brilliant movie. An amazing little girl with an awesome family. What a lesson to us all. This is what Jesus is all about: love and forgiveness no matter how hard it can be. Look at the rewards for all of them.
At 7:16, the teacher who is sitting next to Ruby's teacher, it's SOO NICE to see that she actually came to her senses and realized that just because you're black, white, blue, or red, it doesn't mean you're better than everybody else. I wonder how long it took for all the other ignorant white people to come to their senses. Btw, this is coming from a white guy.
i loved this movie i started cry how they treated ruby like the old lady with the coffin , the lad saying she was going to poison her , and hang her to death that is really not fair . now this is my fav movie because it helps u understand how the old times were ad it doesnt matter about ur race
at 2:46 when that lady who wanted to stand up for her friend was stopped by another lady i would have sucker puched her then went to talk about the test scores
I've always wanted to be someone like her teacher, doing what you think is right, no matter what other people say. Beautiful movie

@jyhammy wow wow WOOW disney made this?!
cybergirl10001 10 months ago

I think his movie is truley touching and sweet.

smh! thats just like disney to try & make
it conclude in such a neat & happy ending.
the truth was none of those children came back to school.
& ms. henry remained her teacher until she moved to high school.
Disney tried to do the same with Pocahontas.
solacethedreamer 11 months ago
@solacethedreamer really so none of the students still never came back, thats insane. I'm black but even if i was a white parent back then, i would have had enough of standing outside the school protesting and get my child back into her class. Ruby is such a remarkable person with an even more remarkable story, taught me alot! btw how did you know about ruby's teacher staying with her til high school and everything please reply luv always madisynn
Mad4MileyCyrus 11 months ago
@Mad4MileyCyrus i read up on her life during that time, and about 5 (give or take) came back but they were in other classrooms. Ruby never saw them except when they were entering and leaving. The Principal never changed her way of thinking and unlike the movie, Ruby was NEVER allowed outside. It was too dangerous for her. There was a woman who constantly threatened her, saying she would poison or kill her. Ruby's grandfather also lost his job, he was a sharecropper & i think owned land too.

I LOVE the end! It deserves an Awww.

Look at the rewards for all of them.
tn342 1 year ago
At 7:16, the teacher who is sitting next to Ruby's teacher, it's SOO NICE to see that she actually came to her senses and realized that just because you're black, white, blue, or red, it doesn't mean you're better than everybody else. I wonder how long it took for all the other ignorant white people to come to their senses. Btw, this is coming from a white guy.
