Yes, the words do not sound correct at 4:30. The correct words of the prayer at that line are, "Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia." I am not certain what we hear at 4:30 of this video. The words are also the same at 6:50. What is the source of their text?
As a professional symphonic baritone, cathedral organist and conductor I think this commendable. The tempi were energized. As far as the comment about singing in incorrect Latin goes - Mozart was exposed to correct liturgical Latin in Rome. When "Heidleburg" is used (as when I sang under the baton of Robert Paige) the music has more "ping," but qVOh-qVeh sounds more Hebrew than Latin. I would never use it in a liturgical service - and that's is what is was composed for!
soloists are A MESS. Tempos directions with the orchestra wasn't well determined and applied. I sing tenor and I can hear the tenors being a mess. You guys sounded like you don't know the words at all! Joy to the god, not [dead being awaken at the night!] Generally I don't like the performance at all. I think my school does a better job with it even with just piano accompaniment (Look up [Unionville high school (ontario)] from wikipedia. Take it as a constructive comment. Sigh..
soloist are way too into themselves. They should sing and embrace their own voice, also blend with the choir, rather than just singing plain loud. Overall great potential in this choir, especially the guys :D
Not a bad performance, could do a little more with vowels, a taller space in the mouths would have helped, there could have been more volume from this size of group, the soloists could have done more with their parts.
The overall sound is very good, but awfully solo-like. The diction is completely wrong though. The song was written by Mozart, therefore it should be pronounced with German Latin, instead of Ecclesiastical Latin. reGIna (g as in geese) and TSoeli (coeli), Kvia (Quia) and Kvem (Quem).
We're singing this for the Dakota Valley Choral Festival, I sing soprano. I DIE.
We had a 5 hour rehearsal today and my voice is completely shot.
