im actually asking is

my map has word LAUNCH on top boxes stream and resivor can u sail boat here where does it go if u go north i see twisting passage and cave if u launch W from stream view LAND is by stream box meaning you sailed boat north? can this be done to cross instead opening the sluice gate and why there LAUNCH on N going tward caveand one west can u sail boat here anyone try or can be done

2 i know there is a stream by the resavior and water cant be crossed unless u open the sluice gate

this is the N,S line of the lake connecting res S and resivor , the lake is square shaped, went side is a line its to small running N,S between stream and stream view w of stream view u cant go can you cross here in boat between stream, stream view it says launch here and land

If you want to see the full ending: all you have to do is edit the BAT file that use to start the game.

Just delete the last two lines. That should make the game ending stay on the screen without disappearing. For best results - use DosBox (core=normal, cycles=800).

I don't know anything about baseball, so I'll have to use a walkthrough for the "oddly-angled room."

@Evilmonkey66699 - Have you played Spellbreaker? There is a puzzle there, that is probably the hardest ever seen in an Infocom game :)

There are 12 identical magic cubes in a room, one of them is the one you need and the rest are fake. You have only 3 attempts to find the right one, using only a simple magic detection spell. It's ultra-nasty.

@AlexeiVoronin Yes, I loved the enchanter series and I did play Spellbreaker(I believe that was the final one, which also explained the end of Magic in the Zork series) but never finished it because of that damn cube room.May have to reinstall my copy of the lost treasures of infocom Cd's and give it another go

@Evilmonkey66699 - One thing I know about this puzzle is that there are two ways for it to develop.

An easier one (which is okay) and a harder one (impossible without a complete walkthrough).

The easier one is when both piles glow equally after taking x1, x2, x7, and x8 (and casting Jindak). In this case, one of these four cubes will be the correct one. You can try your luck blindly, or continue solving it.

But if one pile is brighter... just restore a saved game to reset the puzzle.

This game is SO FUN. But I could never finish it.

It must have sucked to be that guy. He went to grandma's house and what did he get to do? Kill a troll, a thief, and a cyclops, go down a river in a random boat, use Ramses II scepter to summon a solid rainbow, literally go to hell, find a bunch of random treasure to get a map to a randomly appearing stone barrow near the house.

I wanna go to grandma's house.

@SamasakiXBL I can't believe they haven't adapted this into a Hollywood movie yet. Now that Harry Potter's done Zork could be the next fantasy franchise. I think the part where he solidifies the rainbow and walks across could definitely look pretty cool on the big screen.

@mrvlhs I actually had three pages of notes... and, ignoring my practice runs, this was the ninth attempt at the speedrun I made. The first 8 had horrible deaths occur at very poor times.

@ironman617 The game quickly ends and then drops to a DOS prompt, clearing the page. I do play to replay this and try getting a game/interpreter setup that allows the final page of text to be viewable.

I recently wrote an irc frontend for a z-machine emulator (runs Zork or any other infocom game). It's played in channel through a bot so that more than 1 person can get in on the action. I would be glad to host a 24/7 channel on any server, assuming that there is enough interest.

You should give the orginal MIT version of Zork "Dungeon" a shot then it was loooong esspecially since when they re did the game and released it as Zork they broke it down to three games so the orginal "Dungeon" is the size of Zork 1 and half of Zork 2 and 3 combinde

I think I could get it faster with some practice. I just tried a cold run, the first time in years, and got it 11:02. I didn't optimize my movements, and I forgot where the coal was.

And at the end I sat there trying to think for a while minute what treasure I had missed, when I remembered finally I was carrying the darn torch.
