I have seen Neon Genises Evangelion and Space Runaway Ideon, I thought they were cool in many ways, but the conclusions were apocalyptic tragidies, but this one is going to be different from that, when I watch the whole series. Still, giant robots are awsome in many way for my opinion.

manga version of this is psycho: the hayato dude is a communist revolutionary who has blockaded himself inside his school room with some students and is planning to asassinate politicians. When a couple of students don't want to go through with it, he rips the face off one and the ears off another.

Reading some of the comments that I have to clarify a couple of points; 1) The series was developed for television and the manga was created to support the original broadcast, not the other way around. 2) The Dinosaur Empire is interesting, because it gives us a parallel evolution from lower to sentient beings, and the concept of the cybernetic dinosaur monsters was excellent. I know that I was fired up when I was a kid by the designs and concepts for GETTER ROBO way back in 1974.

I wish they would release the original Getta Robo show over here in the U.S. because those of us who saw that Getta Robo G under the title Starvengers would love to see the show that is the true origin of those three jets that can form a robot three different ways. I wish they would bring it over to my country because i can not make heads or tales out of a single word of the japanese language.

As much as the plotline sucks (A Dinosaur Empire taking over the surface world?!), I really like the Getter Robo itself. I wonder if it inspired Power Rangers.

Getta Robo is generally considered to be the originator of pretty much every combiner mech since. Voltron, Power Rangers, even newer stuff like Gurenn Lagann draws on Getta Robo.

Couple other things too-the tradition of having a fat guy in the giant robot team (see Voltron) is also vintage Getta.

Power Rangers are to Giant Super robots what cockroaches are to human beings. I was nausatead back in the early 90's (when I was in highschool) by all the fuzz younger kids made on Power Rangers, also it was dissapointing to learn that Saban Entertainment had something to do with them. Praise the Lord Toei Ent. had nothing to do with them.
