  • It's the dreaded polefire.

  • thats hot, because stephen said so,

  • I have seen these explode and burn workers in the bucket. not cool

  • HIALEAH FREERUNNERS @ OUR CHANNEL

  • The oil is for cooling the transformer. It cools by convection.

  • yeah thats Hialeah

  • Hialeah got the worse transformer and electrical grid

  • i think there may be something wrong with that bank haha

  • damn thats intense!

  • where in hialeah was this?

  • Goood loord, you'd need two companies for THAT blaze, PLUS Hazmat.

  • Hehe have a go at putting that out with water. I'd love to meet the idiot who would try to do so.

  • those trans are filled with oil.

  • are they ? i knew the smoke was burning a little to rich there but with oil what the hell for

  • it keeps the coils inside from over heating but some times it gets so hot it boils and flows out which casuses the coils inside to catch fire which im guessing thats what happened here

  • It's actually a 3-phase step-DOWN transformer bank, to supply a business probably. Most likely it would only cause an outage to customers hooked up to the transformers. But it looks like the fuses are intact, so it may have tripped a reclosing relay or blown lines fuses somewhere up the line.

  • Or else it killed the generator at the power plant.

  • When did this happen?

  • Did this cause any power outages(blackouts)?

  • Power transfromers are oil filled. Oil, given a high enough temperature, can burn.

  • Oil can burn?

  • What do oil lamps run on?

  • I was beeing sarcastic.

  • @mysterymeatgrinder or when they are struck by lightning

  • @mysterymeatgrinder I got one thing to say "oil cooling wasn't enough".

  • That is not good at all. In fact: that is SUper bad!

  • that's not a electrical meter its a pole mounted substation/transformer.

How would someone read it if it was at the top of a pole?

  • You are right.

    Thanks

  • There are step up transfomers/voltagereuglaotrs that have an AMP meter on them!
