@mager258987 he did go earlier and it progressively got worse while at the hospital. The first pic was his first few days there. He still went way to late
I have a theory to stop gangreen from getting this far... its a little old fashon but still works. Leaches. Suck out the dead blood and other cells... still gives them a chance to keep that part of their body
@Azar783402ble Three of my granduncles were missing parts of their bodies (two in WW2 and the other one cuz of a car accident) and yet they still had happy lifes to the end.
How to deal with that is truly a matter of perspective - if I would lose my eyesight, I´d put a knife to my throat or take a fifth of weedkiller, too.
One arm or one leg gone? I got a replacement for each.
@1131982vincent EASY, sugar is very addictive. More addictive then most people realize and they just can't stop eating stuff with sugar in it or drinking stuff with sugar in it.
Start playing this right after a Pepsi commercial. How much sugar and being overweight does it take in order to develop Diabetes? When I was growing up, sugar and treats were in moderation because the industry didn't push like they do now. 16 straight hours of advertisement on 300 channels with 8 hours of actual programing.
MacDonalds was once a month if lucky and not a survival technique with a shitty American economy to survive on a 69 cent cheeseburger. Of course your going to be diabetic.
Well, this was more graphic then I was expecting tit to be. Won't be finishing this sandwhich any time soon. Im going to turn back now before I head any deeper into youtube. Damn... it was ham too...
Gangrene, if found quickly, can be treated and managed. It appears that this was not the case in this situation; the wound, expecially the necrotic toe, was not debrided as it should have been. With proper antibiotics with the correct debridement, that leg could have healed without problem. TAKE YOUR ANTIOBIOTICS PEOPLE! DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE COST BECAUSE THERE IS NO PRICE ON YOUR LEG.
@Soadbabe911 are you a doctor? or a nurse? or did you just google it in order to look smart? i'm not trying to be a dick or anything, its just too many people do tend to think they are qualified physicians on here
@draculasdeadbride To answer your question, I am a registered nurse. And for some reason, people seem to think that if you are diabetic and have and infection (or gangrene), that there is nothing you can do. If this was found quickly and treated correctly on the patient's part as well as on the part of physicians, this man's leg could be salvaged. I feel that people that do have accurate medical knowledge should share it, so I hope this helps. Thanks for the comment :-)
@Soadbabe911 To my understanding, this is a diabetic Gangrene where the patient's nerves and vessels are dying, and no antibiotic can really help. The only solution is to amputate that leg.
@bamboovn2 Yes, but in some cases the gangrene can be treated and the only part that needs to be removed is the infected area that has muscle tissue exposed.
This is a bad case, worse case Ive seen. Poor guy.
@agenthelios1 thanks for your reply! I guess you might be a "medical" person? but correct me if I'm wrong, I really thought that you should amputate not only the part that has the muscle tissue exposed, but also a little far up since you want to get rid of the infection?
Eating too much sugar is not a cause or sole contributing factor in the development of diabetes. It can help make you overweight, which can make it more likely to develop or exasperate the condition, but it doesn't create the disease. It's mostly genetics. Wilford Brimley would be disappointed in this myth.
sugar intake has nothing to do with diabetes. It's genetic. You can get it as a child, like i did, or you can get it when you are older, like my grandfather did. And once you have diabetes, it's a life long challenge. You can still eat sugar and candies, but you have to take it in differently. Usually in moderations, and substitutions. I substitute, and take insulin. Being over weight can also cause diabetes.
@xxalucard66xx Exactly that is the point! You have to give the doctor your permission to amputate and although diabetic gangrene is awful to watch, the chances of losing maybe a toe or two but keeping the rest of your leg and not needing a prothesis is the better choice.
For example my godfather insisted on NOT cutting off my legs and right arm after an accident and after a fortune spent and 2 years in hospital I am still walking.
@MelonheadTheMan I believe it can cause some serious blood circulation problems? not enough blood gets to where it needs to get to at the ends of the body farthest from the heart - and when that happens the parts that are starved, die.
@dean0waterz That´s exactly it! The veins clog up over time and the body´s tissue starts to die away.
I "inherited" diabetes from my dad and grandfather (it´s in the family) but undiagnosed and untreated diabetes, high consume of alcohol and unhealthy food are the best way to join the club.
@KrautGoesWild Hm. Listen man: you obviously know what you're talking about and doing, but I'll say it anyway - you take some good care of yourself, OK? Don't get careless.
@dean0waterz Rest assured: I do take care of myself ever since. Otherwise even one such as I would run out of his luck one day. Peace and have a nice day ;) !
Diabetes patients are often educated to watch the health of their feet daily for any sign of injuries. A patient who becomes negligent might face this serious consequence.
