@shehabammar I don't rate hammet at all. I teach his stuff to beginers all the time. If it's that hard/good/complicated.soulfull etc beginers wouldn't be able to play it. THAT SAID I think it's good when guitar playing is accessible and makes others want to learn. That's why I think bands like metallica and Nirvana are good for the guitar. It makes people want to play, definately a good thing. But I think it has very limited technical merit.
But Steve is still hands down my favorite player but Ive got to call it like I see it and nobody has blown me away like Govan since Shawn Lane.Just my opinions again though.
guthrie doesnt have as complex backing to his songs... its his ability to play such complex scales and chromatics over power chords... some of his songs dont even really have a backing other than bass and drums...
vai also utilizes more outside sounds

I totally agree with everything you just said.But I get into listening to simply complex techniques with a guy that does everything the way Govan does.And Govan is very new so I hope to hear more ethnic flavored and complex arrangements like Vai's on the new C.D.,as Vai is one of Govans big influences.

lol,I hear ya and right back at ya.Vai will allways be my Favorite anyway,you can zone in on any piece drums,bassline,Sitar,piano,etc and the way Vai arranges every piece i find myself blown away most of the time by any piece in the band at almost any given time.His compozing skills are IMO Epic to put it in a word.Best example off the top of my head would be firegarden suite.That whole arrangemnt is genius and gets my heart pounding everytime.Hope Guth starts putting things like that together.
